DAVID LISTER

David Earl Lister (named for his grandfather, Earl Williams), passed away suddenly on Sunday August 29, 2010. David was born in 1955 in Moose Jaw. He was a gentle soul to all who met him and knew him. David taught himself to play guitar and was very good at it. He also enjoyed fishing and collecting model trains. He has had many good and faithful friends. His dear friend, Linda was always there for him. He was soft-spoken, had a kind sense of humour, and was a great listener. His teenage years were spent growing up on a farm south of Bengough, with his mother Florence, and his step-father, John Fearnside. David lived with his wife, Sylvia and children, Andrew and Taryn in Moose Jaw, and then in Winnipeg. Most of David’s adult life was spent in Moose Jaw where he enjoyed many loyal friendships. Predeceased by his parents, Florence and Joseph, and step-father John Fearnside, he will be dearly missed by his children Taryn and Andrew and their mother Sylvia; brothers and sisters: Garry (Cathy) Lister – Regina; Bob (Shirley) Lister – Lloydminster, Arlene (Gary) Walker – Swift Current, and Jo-Anne (Wade) Holmes – Whitehorse, Yukon; and several nieces and nephews. After a brief illness David was carried home, in the arms of an angel. We know he is at peace and we are thankful for all those who cared for him during his illness and for every kindness shown to him by family and friends. A family graveside service in David’s memory will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated. In living memory of David, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ELFREIDA PAULINE MEGINBIR

Elfreida Pauline Meginbir (nee Geissler) left this earth on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. She is fondly remembered and sadly missed by her children, Jerry, Hedy Smith, Paul, Phyllis Young, and Lorne; her grandchildren Laura, Layton, Marla, Colin, Nicole, Chris, Alynn, and Kara; her great-grandchildren, Zach, Jeremy, Danielle, and Aidan; and her many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband Arnold, her granddaughter Angela, her parents, and her brothers and sisters. Freida was born on April 2, 1917. Hers was a life built upon the prairie farm experience. Her growing years were spent with her parents and brothers and sisters on the family homestead in the Mazenod area. On June 10, 1937 she married Arnold D. Meginbir. They farmed together, raised their family, and participated in community and church activities in Mazenod and Vantage for many years. Freida was dedicated to her family; hers was a quiet strength that was always present and could always be counted on. In addition to her devotion to her family, Freida possessed an ability to make things grow. This included her vegetable and flower gardens, and her devotion to and success in nurturing any animals in her care. She created things of beauty including her many needle work projects and her never-ending stream of delicious meals. All of these were seasoned with a quick wit and a mischievous sparkle in the eye. Retirement years included a move to Moose Jaw where – while Freida continued with her existing family interests – she met new friends and developed new areas of interest. The last few years of Freida’s life were spent at Providence Place in Moose Jaw. Thanks to the staff there as they helped her to create a true sense of home within the facility. A special thanks as well to Dr. H. Rininsland who has provided medical care and moral support over many years. The Funeral Service will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St. W., on Tuesday February 15, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Bob Langdon will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorials to the Sask. Heath & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Freida, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
