Donna Lorraine Cave of Moose Jaw passed away on July 2, 2011 at the age of 56. She was born in Central Butte to Thomas and Hazel Craig, and grew up in the Brownlee district. She married Clayton Cave and they had three children: Jodey, Clint, and Gwen. Donna loved reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren, Tyanna and Oren, and her dog Suzie Q. She will be sadly missed by her children: Jodey, Clint (Tara), and Gwen (Les); grandchildren Tyanna and Oren; her father Thomas, and many other family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held at the Brownlee Cemetery on Saturday July 9, 2011 at 3:30p.m. Reverend Dave Moore will officiate. In living memory of Donna, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
MARY KEFFORD
It is with sadness we announce that Mary Kefford passed away peacefully on Saturday August 8, 2009 at the age of 87. Mary was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1978, grandson Andy in 2001, her father and mother Alfred and Mabel Dann, brothers Vernon, Frank, Ern, Fred and Harry Dann, and sisters Margaret Bell and Lil Rattee. Mary is survived by two sons George (Shanon) of Tuxford, and Brian Kefford of Regina; grandson Mark (Janine) Kefford and great-grandson Andy Kefford all of Calgary; and Pat Kefford of Regina; sisters Hazel Horn of Kirkfield, ON, and Betty Oglow of Castlegar, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was born in Moose Jaw in 1921 where she resided her entire life. She attended King George School, Central Collegiate and obtained a Business Course which she put to good use. After her marriage to Henry in 1945 she worked for the Moose Jaw Police Department as a court reporter. After spending valued time as a homemaker and raising her two sons, she returned to work for the Moose Jaw School Board as a secretary at Riverview Collegiate until her retirement in 1986. Mom and Dad enjoyed the simple things in life and Mom remained active and physically fit in her retirement years. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, bowling, and aquafit classes well into her eighties. A private family service will be held with Reverend Allen Doerksen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary’s name may be made to support the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7. In living memory of Mary, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
BILL MAGEE
Beloved and cherished Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother and Uncle, WILLIAM (BILL) MAGEE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at Extendicare Nursing Home. Bill worked at Graham Construction and Mossauer’s Upholstery until Epilepsy prevented him from doing the beautiful work that he so loved. He loved to visit with family and friends and enjoyed watching hockey, wrestling and baseball. Bill’s love for animals was evident, especially dogs and his beloved Michelle. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph (1939) and Mae (1987); brothers: Archie, Gordon, and Cecil, sister, Myrtle; two infant children: Beverly and William (Bill). Bill leaves to mourn his passing his former wife and friend Iris Magee; daughter Cheryl Wingenbach (Ron) of Moose Jaw, son Wayne Magee of Moose Jaw, daughter Barb Hewitt (John) of Red Deer, AB, daughter Brenda Bolianatz (Chris) of Moose Jaw, daughter Linda Magee-Nelson (Laverne) of Moose Jaw, daughter Christine Giofu (Calvin) of Medicina Hat, AB, Vince Magee (Caron) of Moose Jaw and Brian Magee (Dyan) of Moose Jaw. Bill also leaves to mourn seventeen grandchildren, one great-grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. In keeping with Bill’s request, a private celebration of his life will be held. Cremation will take place with memorialization in Masefield, Saskatchewan at a later date. We would like to thank all the family (Shirley Chan) and numerous friends that prayed for our dad that God would help him in his time of need. A special thank you to Dr.A.J.Van Heerden, Dr.G.B.Van Heerden and Dr. Sanderson and all the doctor’s and nurses in Emergency and Medical Ward at the Union Hospital. A special thank you to all the nurses and caregivers at Pioneer Lodge and Extendicare who helped dad in his time of need. A special note to his friends at Providence Place and Heritage Place for being so kind during his illness. MABEL MINA McRORIE
Mabel M. McRorie passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on March 2, 2011 at the age of 91. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her devoted husband Eric; children Guy (Karen), Terry (Jean), John, Elizabeth (Dave), Kate (Brian); 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mabel was born in Melfort, SK. She and Eric met in England while they were both serving in WWII. In 1946 they returned to Avonlea to run McRorie Bros. Red and White Store. Mabel loved her family and community and was involved in many activities. We would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at Coteau Range Manor. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Avonlea United Church on March 12, 2011 at 1:30pm. Rev. Marilyn Keerak will officiate. BARBARA GIENI
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Barbara Gieni on April 30, 2011. Mom was born on May 2, 1925 at Bayard, SK. She was predeceased by our Dad, Vasile Gieni; brothers: Sigman, Anton, Bernard, Victor, Frank, Johnny and Fred; sisters: Josephine and Emma. She leaves to mourn her children Gerry (Mary Lou), Lonnie (Gwen), Neal (Muriel), Keith (June), Lynn (Randy), Mark (Brenda), Les (Deneen); daughters-in-law Norma and Carol; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Hedy Guraluick and Annie Ludwar; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Mom was a loving, caring and giving person who lived her life with great spiritual faith. The love for her family was utmost in her life. As a result, our family bond shares a special closeness, which is unique and a testament to her love. She had a wonderful sense of humour that was most definitely passed down through the generations. She was passionate about cooking for her family. Hours of gardening, playing cards, bingo and scrabble also brought her happiness. She treasured her friendship with the Eastend walking group, who helped her through our Dad's passing. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. NW, Moose Jaw on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:30 am. Father Louis Kim will be the Mass Celebrant, An Evening Prayer Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations to Providence Place would be appreciated by the family. JOE SQUIRE
ERNEST JOHN (JOE) SQUIRE passed away of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s) on Monday, May 26, 2003. Joe was born December 1934 in Montreal, P.Q. He joined the Military in 1953 and after numerous postings and 38 years of Service, retired in Moose Jaw in 1991. Joe was very active with the Senior Men’s Golf at Hillcrest for many years. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed his cottage and family. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Shirley; children: Joanne (Gary), Nancy, James (Louise) and Tracy. Joe enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren: Amber, Philip, Trevor, Jonathon, Ryan and Riley. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy of Massachusetts and Frances of Quebec. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the Protestant Chapel at 15 Wing. Pastor Roger Foust and Padre Richard Larson will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held (this evening) Wednesday, May 28, 7-9 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Moose Jaw. Donations to the ALS Society of Saskatchewan, Box 31028, Normanview Mall, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4R 8R6 or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. IMELDA "SONNY" CANDLER
Mrs. Imelda “Sonny"Candler, age 81 of Chaplin passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday December 19, 2010. She is predeceased by her parents and fourteen brothers and sisters. Sonny is survived by her husband Marvin; her children Terry (Leo), Carmela (Bob), David (Carla) and Alison (Tim); her grandchildren Phaedra and Leo (Cathy), Mitchell, Michael and Matthew, Devin and Danae; one great-grandchild Kylan; one sister Clementine (Bob); one brother Bernie (Lorraine) as well as many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Tea will be held at the Chaplin Community Hall on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. In keeping with Sonny’s wishes a private Graveside Service will be held at the Chaplin Cemetery at a later date.
