Chuck Johnson long time resident of the Parkbeg District passed away June 25, 2011 at the age of 74. He is predeceased by his parents Edwin and Mary Johnson; sister Agnes; brother Edwin; brother-in-law Andy and sister-in-law Beryl. Chuck is survived by his sister Barbara (Ernie) Cossette; eight nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 1:30pm at W. J. Jones and Son Chapel. Della Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. LEONA KING
Leona passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2009 at Extendicare in Moose Jaw. She was born February 6, 1944 in Swift Current. Having Down syndrome did not stop Leona from having a very active life. She lived in Weyburn Special Needs Hospital before moving into Valley View Care Centre in Moose Jaw. She then moved into private care homes in the city. She enjoyed all the activities that came her way. Leona worked at Diversified for many years and had lots of friends to socialize with. Leona’s mother Marg had a big influence on her and taught her many social skills when she had her home on weekends at least once a month. Leona was known for her “HUGS” - you might not have wanted one, but you got one anyway! She always knew the holidays in the year and wanted to be home with family. Colouring Easter eggs at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas were all special for her. Leona spent many summer holidays at Candle Lake. She enjoyed swimming in her early years - it was a fun time for her. She also liked to go boating and fish with her dad and Eva and especially enjoyed the ice cream treat after. She was predeceased by her parents, Marjorie King (2001) and Leo King (2007). She is lovingly survived by her sisters: Alvera Marsh (Ray) and Anita Folgizan, brother, Terry Jordan, step-mother, Eva King; step-sisters: Lee Ann King and Eva Maude King, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Della Ferguson will officiate. Private family memorialization will take place in Prairie Memorial Columbarium at a later date. Penelope (Nellie) Edna Thompson
April 28, 1919 – November 3, 2010
Nellie passed away peacefully in Regina General Hospital after a brief illness, with her beloved niece Dawn by her side. She was born in Morse, SK and came to Moose Jaw with her parents James and Sarah Williams as an infant and has resided here her entire life. She married Jack Thompson in August of 1938 and they owned and operated Grant Hall Taxi in the early years of their marriage, and later Jack’s Jiffy Delivery as well as a grain farm in the Stony Beach area. They took great pride and joy in entertaining family and friends at their lake cottage. Nellie loved playing baseball and was shortstop for the Moose Jaw Royals in the 1930’s. She was a proud member of the Royal Purple, the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. Nellie will be lovingly remembered and missed by her nieces and nephews and their families: Wendy (Doyle) Grover; Jim Williams, his children Tammy and Rayden; Dawn (Al) Usher, their children Christie (Andrew) and Robert; as well as great-great-nieces and nephew: Tianna, Mykayla and Caydan; as well as nieces and nephews: Marilyn Kaupke; Bill and Ev Gilmore and family; many other nieces and nephews; and cherished companion Dr. Hugh McIntyre and friend Aileen McGhie. She is predeceased by her loving husband Jack of 59 years, brothers Ray and Harry, sister Evelyn, and great-nephew Doyle Jr. A Celebration of Nellie’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday November 9, 2010 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Allen Doerksen will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. ANN WOLSKE
ANN WOLSKE passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the age of 92 years. Ann was born October 22, 1916 in the Galilee, Saskatchewan district. She moved to Toronto in 1943 where she lived and worked for Ontario Hydro for twenty-six years. Ann enjoyed dancing, shopping for her vibrant wardrobe, watching her beloved Toronto Blue Jays and travelling, including her summer visits back to the Prairies. Ann returned to Moose Jaw in 1992 and resided there until her passing. Ann had a zest for life. Always a social butterfly, she will be missed by all who knew her. Left to mourn are her siblings Alfred (June) Wolske – Moose Jaw, Freda Wells – Medicine Hat, Erna Chase - Edmonton, Martha Feschuk - Edmonton, Char (Marv) Chase - Saskatoon, Lena “Babs” (Don) Summers – Regina and twenty-one nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her father Adolf Wolske, mother Rosa Schumacher, step-father Herman Schumacher, sister Alma Schick and brothers-in-law Charlie Schick and John Wells. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Delma Trudel
Delma Elizabeth Trudel of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Delma will be lovingly remembered by her father John, husband George, and daughters, Jamie and Carrie, and grandchildren Steven and Abby-Rae. A Celebration of Delma’s life will be held at W. J. Mrs. Olive Schenk, age 96, of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on September 2, 2010. Born on the family farm in the Blue Hill district, she received her education at Ridley School. Olive married Emil in 1936 and they farmed in the Blue Hill district until retiring to Moose Jaw in 1959. Olive was a member of Grandview United Church. Predeceased by her parents Hannah and Jack Glover; her husband Emil; sister Jane Tait; and brother Cecil “Jake” Glover, Olive is survived by her children: son Merv (Ruth); daughters, Fay (Bill) Murphy, Carol Martynook, and Bev (Dave) Crifero – Pembroke, ON; son-in-law Roger Martynook; grandchildren: Ron, David (Christine), and Curtis (Marci) Schenk; Roz (Marty) Rodgers, John Murphy; Trevor (Lynn Chaisson), Steve, Paul Martynook; Corey (Lisa) Easton and Tasha (Brian) Todd; seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday September 8, 2010 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Lynne Clarke will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. ROSALIE BOSSENCE
Rosalie Barbara Bossence (Jones) of Moose Jaw, formerly of Mortlach, passed away January 28, 2011 at the age of 92. Rosalie was born September 26, 1918 at home on the family horse ranch southwest of Mortlach with Mrs. Brown as the midwife, to George and Emma Jones. Rosalie began her education at Edgehill School later attending Kalamazoo School. She loved playing ball and remained friends with her teammates throughout the years. She and her husband Bill Sr. enjoyed travelling with the Rowe and Kerr families. She spent many, many hours helping with the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren and she loved them all. She was a hairdresser by trade and had a shop in her basement where she was kept busy with the ladies in the community. She loved being at the lake, and fishing was a favorite pastime. She was involved with the church all her life and it was a part of her heritage as she attended church with her family, and as she wrote in the Mortlach history book “that at the Jones family home Sunday was the Lord’s day and a day of rest.” She attended Zion Church four miles south of Mortlach. She will be sadly missed and as one of our nieces so wonderfully put it “Mom is now hanging out with the love of her life – our dad”. Rosalie is predeceased by her parents; her husband, William Henry Bossence; five sisters; one brother and two sisters-in-law. She will be sadly missed by her sons, George (Gail), and Bill (Brenda); grandchildren Dean (Donna), Michelle (Pat) Bouchard, Jody (Kallie), Jennifer McImoyle, Cheri Kujat, Trent (Pam), Jack, Andy; many great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and special friends, the Searle family. A Celebration of Rosalie’s Life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday February 3, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate.
