It is with sadness that the family of Loretta Lydia Wells (Antonuk) announces her passing on January 22, 2011. Loretta was born, raised and lived her entire 72 years in Moose Jaw. In that time she made many friends and touched many lives. Loretta worked at Woolworths, Ricki’s, and Army & Navy. She had been an active member of the Y for many years. Loretta loved life. She had a sense of adventure and was eager to try and learn new things. She learned to ride and operate SeaDoos with her grandsons. Loretta was quick to laugh and always had kind words and deeds for everyone. She loved fashion and was an accomplished seamstress. She could whip up anything from winter coats to window draperies. She was an amazing cook, gardener, and could knit anything. She spent many hours doing the most incredible stitching and needlepoint pieces. Loretta belonged to the Moose Jaw Stitchers and was a member of Haven’s Quilting Angels. She enjoyed weekly lunches with her friends. Loretta was proud of her accomplishments but she was especially proud of her family. She was predeceased by her parents Nickolas and Emily, and husband Jack. She is survived by her son Dwain (Joan)Wells and grandsons Nicholas (Hilary Brown) and Scott (Janelle Untereiner). A Celebration of Loretta’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday January 28, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, for those so wishing, memorials to the Arthritis Society, #110 - 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, would be appreciated. ALBERTA (BERTIE) BRENTNELL
Alberta (Bertie) Brentnell (nee Allcock) passed away peacefully May 3, 2011 at the age of 91. She is predeceased by her husband Jim, parents Clifton and Nora, son Robert, brothers Norman and Arthur and sister Viola King. Bertie will be lovingly remembered by son Dennis (Anne), daughter-in-law Linda, sister Leah Harlton, seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, nieces, nephews and friends. Bertie was born in 1920 in Belle Plaine. She married Jim Brentnell in 1939 and they celebrated their 71st Wedding Anniversary in 2010. They raised their sons Dennis and Bob in Belle Plaine and farmed in the area for many years. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1977. Bertie was an accomplished pianist/organist and shared her gift with many including the Belle Plaine United Church and Saint Andrews United Church. Bertie created works of art with her beautiful petit point pictures. Family was very important to Bertie; she enjoyed watching everyone grow and delighted in their accomplishments. Thank you to the Extendicare staff for the wonderful care provided to Bertie. The Celebration of Bertie’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday May 9, 2011 at 1:30 pm. PETER ALLEN
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Peter Gent Allen announces his sudden passing on January 19, 2011. Peter was born and raised in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. He was well known in his home province as a good athlete during High School, while also excelling in music. He had his own radio show and orchestra which were enjoyed by a wide cross section of followers throughout the Annapolis-Cornwallis Valley. His love of music and desire to play the piano eventually brought him to The Pas, Manitoba where he met and married his loving wife, Anne, in 1968. After moving to Moose Jaw in 1976 Peter continued his love of music by enchanting the community with his one-of-akind talent, winning the hearts of all who met and knew him. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather and will be missed greatly. Peter will be remembered by his wife, Anne, of 42 years, his sons Shaun (Penny), and Parres; his daughters Amy, Lana (Preston); and his many grandchildren Grayson, Conor, Megan, Mitchell, Brayden, Taylor, and Liam; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is survived by his brothers Edwin (Edna), Bob (Muriel); sisters Thelma, Josephine (Bruce), Lila (Sandy), Patricia (Peter), and predeceased by his parents Elmer and Leah, sister Mary, and brother William. The Celebration of Peter’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 1010 Main St. N., on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 1:30 pm. Pastor Barry Gammie will officiate. Gerald James (Jerry) Johnson
With a peaceful dignity, surrounded by love Gerald James Johnson passed away on March 11, 2011. Gerald was born on a farm near Redwood Falls, Minnesota on March 14, 1913. At the age of 3 he and his parents moved to Canada and became homesteaders on a 1/4 section of land near Chamberlain. He married Martha Steinhauer on November 29, 1939. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1943. Dad worked at Prairie Airways during the war, after which he began a long career at Central Motors eventually becoming the Used Car Dept. Foreman. He also taught Motor Mechanics for a short time at SIAST. In semiretirement he drove a school bus for the Thunder Creek School Division. Dad's greatest joys were his family and friends. He loved fishing, camping, the cabin at the lake, travel, dancing, history and cars. He was thankful for retirement years filled with these things. Predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha: his parents Jim and Margaret Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Peter, Edgar and his wife Florence, Arnold, Wilfred and Roy Delbeck. He is survived by daughters: Peggy Johnson, Maureen (Gord) Paice and Susan (Doug) Gillies; ten grandchildren and sixteen greatgrandchildren; sisters-in-law Edna Delbeck, Dorothy (Wilf) Longmore, Evie (Joe) Lang, Irene Steinhauer. Joan Steinhauer; brother-in-law Randy (Mona) Steinhauer and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., on Friday April 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. JOSEPH WILLIAM "BILL" GALLIPEAU
May 2, 1938 – April 11, 2011
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph William “Bill” Gallipeau, son of Joseph and Isobel Gallipeau. He is predeceased by his dad Joe, brother Neville, sister Shirley, nephews Johnny and Douglas, and great-niece Stacey. Left to celebrate his life are his wife of 52 years Erma, his mother Isobel, sons Wayne (Holly), Darcy (Kathy), Tim (Marliss), daughter Desiree (John); fifteen grandchildren; brothers and sisters Rosalie, Ronald, Tom, Diane, and Kenny; as well as sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Dad was a Fighter Control Operator when he met Erma, they were married, eventually settling in Regina where they raised their four children, while working for Sask. Power as a Research Engineer. He loved cats, dogs, and birds, and loved to build anything from gazebos to rockets. Dad loved singing and was a member of the Regina Philharmonic Choir. He also enjoyed travelling, camping and fishing. Dad was also involved with Boy Scouts of Canada, and was a lifetime member of the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, on Saturday April 16, 2011 at 10:30 am. Father Rick Krofchek will be the Celebrant. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E, Moose Jaw on Friday at 7:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau St. Michael and the Moose Jaw Union Hospital for their care. Memorials donations to a Charity of Choice would be appreciated. DOROTHY KORBO
DOROTHY ELIZABETH KORBO (nee MacNevin), of Moose Jaw, passed away September 30, 2003. Born May 2, 1941, Dorothy was predeceased by her father, Harvey, mother, Catherine MacNevin, an infant daughter, Shelley Korbo and husband, Victor Lacerte. She is survived by her six children: Ryan (Kelly), Peter ( Shannon ), Quenton (Ernie), Shannon, Tania (Ed) and Myles; eleven grandchildren, ten step-children; brothers: Wayne (Mary), Malcolm and Bruce (Ann-Marie), her sister, Cathy (Clinton) and their families as well as many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Reverend Dave Moore will officiate. Cremation will follow and memorialization will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Unit 3B (cancer ward) of Pasqua Hospital, Regina would be appreciated by her family.
