It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden death of Howard William Doyle of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Howard passed away quietly on Monday June 14, 2010 at the age of 95. Howard was born on his father's homestead in Ernfold, Saskatchewan in 1915. Howard attended the Moose Jaw Normal School (Teacher's College) in 1935-36 and earned his degree in Education from the University of Saskatchewan in 1963. His teaching career of 42 years included elementary, high school and instructing at the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw. During his long career Howard taught in Vicars, Trewdale, Lacadena, Success, Parkbeg, Mawer, Brownlee, Davidson and Moose Jaw. In 1937 he married the love of his life Emma (nee Heiydt) and together they raised 5 sons. Howard also bought a small farm in Ernfold and built a cabin with his son Glen at Palliser Park. Howard enjoyed reading, gardening, baseball, curling and golf. With his family he saw the majority of Canada and the United States. Howard also travelled to Europe and Hawaii. Howard was predeceased by his wife Emma (2002), his son Allan (1973), daughter-in-law, Patricia (Dwight) in 2009, sister, Alice Moser, and two brothers: Joe Doyle and Harold Doyle. Howard is survived his sons: Paul (Doreen) - Regina, Glen (Loretta) - Calgary, Dwight - Saskatoon and Bernie (Lynn Allardyce) - Saskatoon; grandchildren: Darcy, Delaine, Carole, Dean, Brent, Gwen, Denise, Sarah, Scott, Kevin, and Kara; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw on Friday June 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Father Louis Kim Nguyen will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. A Prayer Service will be held Thursday evening at 7p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 – 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8 or to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, 204 – 3775 Pasqua St., Regina, S4S 9Z9. BERTHA DOMBOWSKY
On Sunday, October 26, in her 87th year, HELEN (BERTHA) DOMBOWSKY (nee Englot) passed away at Extendicare with family at her side. She was born on August 7th, 1916 at Lemberg, Saskatchewan. Bertha was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Joseph Dombowsky in 1985, an infant granddaughter Leanne, daughter-in-law Christa, three brothers and five sisters. She will be greatly missed by her sons: Sydney (Dolores) of Regina and John of Trenton, Ontario; daughters: Diane (Donald) Beingessner of Regina and Madeline (Arthur) Landry of Moose Jaw; former daughter-in-law Carmen Stevens; twelve grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Caroline De Kelver of Mississauga, Stefania Mounsey of Kamloops, Kathleen Vignal and Joyce (Steve) Ursulan – both of Kelowna; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Bertha’s Life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St., Moose Jaw. The Mass Celebrants will be Father Gerry Bauche assisted by Parish Minister, Stephanie Molloy. A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the W. J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to commemorate Bertha’s life in a special way may make a contribution to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231–8th St. E. Saskatoon, Sask., S7H 0S5 in her name. Lillian Margaret Yake (Cedergren)
November 23, 1915 – June 25, 2011
It is with heavy hearts that the children of Lillian Yake announce her passing at the age of 95 years on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at St. Paul 's Hospital in Saskatoon with her loving family at her side. Lillian was born November 23, 1915 at Keeler, Sask. She was the oldest child of Frank and Linnea Cedergren. After completing her schooling, she moved to Moose Jaw to work. On August 9, 1941 she married John (Jack) Yake and they made their home in Moose Jaw only leaving for a few years when Jack worked in Estevan. Mom worked for a number of years at the Central Supply at the Union Hospital. Mom was a long time member of Sunningdale Community Church and was an active member of the ladies groups. Four years ago she moved to Saskatoon and resided at the Palisades Intermediate Care Home until her passing. She settled in very quickly and really enjoyed her time there and her "special girls". Lillian's love and care of her family will be a lasting legacy for all of us. Mom was quiet but had a great strength and deep faith and accepted with grace whatever life sent her way. She was loving Mother to Lynne (Albert) Georget of Saskatoon; Brian (Tracy) Yake of Enderby, BC; and Mary (Bill) Pronyk of Garland, MB. She was proud Grandma and Great-Grandma to: Wendy (Casey) Fleming and Kelsey, Kevin (Krista) Georget, Samuel and Benjamin; Adam (Beth) Yake and Daylen; Raegan Yake; Carl Pronyk; and Russell (Jessica) Pronyk, Henry, Gordon, Holly and Violet. She was dear sister to Arthur (Alice) Cedergren and Mildred Neiser (Guillaume). She is also survived by twenty-two nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) in 1992; her parents, Frank and Linnea Cedergren and by her sisters Alice Crerar and Ivy Closs (Neff). In celebration of Lillian's life, a Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Pastor Ashley Taylor will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. MARGARET DRYSDALE
Margaret Drysdale passed away peacefully at Pioneers Lodge, Moose Jaw on July 7, 2010 at the age of 90 years. Margaret was born in the Mortlach district in 1920. She attended Remount School until grade eight, when she stayed home to help out on the family farm. She married Floyd Drysdale in 1977 and they resided in Regina. They loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Scotland and the United States. Margaret moved to Moose Jaw after Floyd’s passing in 1998. She is also predeceased by her parents, and by her brother David Duncan. Margaret is survived by her brothers, Gordon (Geri) Duncan and Bruce (Leona) Duncan; sister Helen (Emil) Glass; sisters-in-law Mary Duncan, and Connie (John) Silzer; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday July 10, 2010 at 1:30 pm. Pastors Larry and Donna Gerow will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Conrad Albert Gottselig
April 26, 1920 - April 20, 2010
It is with great sorrow that the family of Conrad Gottselig announce his passing. Conrad led a very full productive life. After serving in the army in World War II he settled with his wife, Gladys, to farm in the Chamberlain area. They moved into the town of Chamberlain in 1952. Conrad contributed in many ways to this growing community: he was the mayor of the village, chairman of the local Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, member/chairman on the board of directors of the Credit Union, member/president of St. Anne's Parish Council. He was instrumental in the building of the Chamberlain skating rink. He loved to play baseball and was an umpire at the Chamberlain Sports Days. He was also an avid curler. During the winters he opened the pool room for those who wanted to shoot a game, talk or get a hair cut. Conrad is predeceased by his wife Gladys. He will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his children: Cheryl (Yves) of Calgary; Brian (Rita) of Chamberlain, grandson Russell (Tammy), great-granddaughters Jessica and Alexis: Gerard (Linda) of Calgary, granddaughter Kristina (Jim), great-grandsons Wyatt and Ty, grandson Craig, great-granddaughter Lyla; Colin (Lori) of Pense, granddaughter Ashly (David) and grandson Derek (Tamara); Colleen (Kevin) of Maple Bay, BC. Conrad is also survived by a number of brothers, sisters, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Holdfast, Sask. Jean Mable Ewart
October 22, 1911 - April 1, 2010
Jean passed away in New Hope Nursing home in Stoughton, Sask. April 1, 2010 at the age of 98. She was born in Lumsden, Sask, and lived in the Kelstern area most of her life, where they raised their family, retired and moved to Saskatoon, then Moose Jaw, finally Estevan after Dad passed away. She had a good long, memorable life, always had a smile on her face. Jean loved to play cards, at which she was pretty sharp. She'll be lovingly remembered by her children, Darwin (Marcia) Toronto, ON; Dorothy Fuchs, North Portal, SK; Thelma (Nels) Jensen, Hinton, AB; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan in 1992, son-in-law, George Fuchs in 2002, daughter, Elaine McNaughton in 2004, and all of her siblings. All of the family would like to thank the staff at New Hope, for taking such good care of our Mother. A Graveside Committal Service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11a.m. at Sunset Cemetery. A Memorial Tea will follow at the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E. If friends so wish, they can make a donation to their favorite charity, in Jean’s name.
