ALECIA BUCHANAN

Alecia Matilda Buchanan (Burns) born on January 13, 1917 and passed peacefully away on February 14, 2004. Formerly of the Tuxford district where she was a full partner in the family farm working in the fields, the barn and machine shop as well as keeping a spotless house and huge garden. Alecia was an excellent cook and will be remembered for making her wonderful meals. Anyone who was there at meal time was treated to her hospitality whether it was unexpected company or a repairman who was there to fix a piece of machinery. Alecia and Glen did not have children of their own, but were like a second set of parents to their nieces and nephews. They also touched the lives of many of the Tuxford district children. Alecia taught Sunday school for many years at St. Paul’s United Church in Tuxford where she and Glen were also “Hi C” councilors. Alecia moved to Moose Jaw after Glen’s death in 1987. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was always ready for an outing or a drive in the country. She is predeceased by her husband Russell “Glenn”, her parents, Matilda and Francis “Paddy” Burns and her brother Earl Burns. She is survived by her nieces, Sandra (Stew) Godfrey, Sheila (Al) Miller, Nancy Burns and nephew Rob (Shelly) Burns. Eight grandnieces and nephews and four great -grand nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Edna Burns. The Funeral service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday February 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. John Carley will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale cemetery. Alecia’s family would like to thank the staff of Chez Nous for the care and home they provided Alecia for the last two and a half years. To Dr. Sanderson and the staff of the Union Hospital and Providence Place for their caring compassion during her final illness. In living memory of Alecia Buchanan, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Isabelle Jeanine Bouvier
May 21, 1955 – July 1, 2008

Isabelle passed away at 53 years of age in her Moose Jaw home after an extensive battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Don McKenzie; her oldest son Jason Kwan and his spouse Melissa and his daughter Jayna; son Justin Kwan and his spouse Rhonda and their daughter Kayla; and daughter Brandy Kwan and her spouse Peter and their children Jayde, Brandon, and Gauge. Isabelle leaves behind many friends and cherished memories. A Memorial will be held privately at a later date. In living memory of Isabelle, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ANNE KELLOUGH

Mrs. Anne Kellough (Straub) age 88, of Moose Jaw, formerly of the Tuxford/Marquis area, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 3, 2010, with her family by her side. Anne is predeceased by her parents Jacob and Katherine Heinrichs, two husbands, Carl “Charlie” Straub, and Clarence Kellough; sisters Katherine Wall, Helen Wall and Evelyn Hesjedal; brothers Peter Heinrichs, Bill Heinrichs and Jake Heinrichs; sister-in-law Margaret Heinrichs; and brothers-in-law John Wall, Isaac Wall and Norman Allan. She is lovingly remembered by her long time companion of 23 years Chuck Reader; her children, sons Wayne (Roberta) Straub and their children Cory Kluthe (Shannon) and Jordan Kluthe (Nicole); Gary (Lorrie) and their children Jackie Straub (Darren), Kristy Straub (Greg); great-grandchildren Destanee, Hailee, Madison, Saige and Noah; five sisters, Agnes (Austen) Robson, Hilda (Bill) Robson, Mary Allan, Margaret (Jake) Dyck, and Betty (Don) Loeppky; sisters-in-law Elenor Heinrichs and Dorothy Heinrichs; and brother-in-law Howard Hesjedal. She will also be remembered by Clarence’s family, Kerry, Kathy and their families; and by Chuck’s family, Doug (Rhonda), Jim (Eunice), and Tom and their families. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 1:30pm. Reverend Doug Hallman will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Timothy Eaton Gardens 101 – 510 Main Street North, S6H 3K3. In living memory of Anne, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

SHARON ALBRECHT

Sharon Gayle Albrecht (nee Bender) of Moose Jaw, passed away on January 1, 2007 at the age of 62 years. Sharon was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on November 23, 1944. She married Mervin Albrecht 1963 shortly after which they moved to Calgary to start a family. Sharon spent most of her early family life as a devoted housewife and mother raising her son Bradley and daughter Tiffany. In 1974, Mervin and Sharon purchased a paint store and the family moved to Nelson, BC where she then spent the next 12 years. After her divorce from Mervin, Sharon returned to Moose Jaw. In 1997, Sharon became a proud grandmother of Kyle Albrecht and then in 2000, Curtis Albrecht was born. She had a special love of her grandchildren and will be remembered as a wonderful grandmother. Sharon is predeceased by her father Albert, her maternal mother Agnes, sister Joyce and brother Ronnie. She is survived by her son, Brad (Kathie) and their children, Curtis and Kyle – Cranbrook, BC; daughter, Tiffany (Blair) Simister – Saskatoon; her mother, Jordis Bender – Moose Jaw; brothers: Bob (Karen) Bender and Blaine Bender; sisters, Natalie (Tom) Keeler and Paulette (Nick) Wakeford – all of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W.J. Jones and Son Chapel on Saturday January 6, 2007 at 2:30 pm. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. A Graveside Service will follow at Sunset Cemetery where Sharon's ashes will be placed in her father's grave. Memorials to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 261 High St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 1S7, or to the Children's Health & Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, 850 - 410 22nd St. E., Saskatoon, SK S7K 5T6. In living memory of Sharon, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GLADYS STEWART

Gladys Stewart of Moose Jaw, passed away September 23, 2010 at the age of 98. Gladys was born in Regina on April 10, 1912. She received her education at Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw. Gladys was employed at the City Hall Licensing Dept. until her marriage to Robert James Stewart on December 6, 1941. She was later employed at W.E. Smith Electric for 27 years, retiring at age 71. Predeceased by her husband Robert, mother Alice Firth, brother Roy and sister Nancy, she is survived by three children: Sandra (Bill) Shiers, Jacqueline Stewart, and Roger (Marianne) Stewart; eleven grandchildren: Mark (Cheryl) Shiers, Brett Shiers, Crystal (Kirby) Froese, Christine (Todd) Marasse, Bill Shiers, LoAnne (Sandy) Smith, Michael (Pauline) Bayne, Jodi-Leigh Stewart, Robert (Ros) Stewart, Amy (Curtis) Novak, and Ashley (Brad) Stewart; and ten great-grandchildren. A Private Family Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel. Reverend Allen Doerksen will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In living memory of Gladys, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JOHN TANTON

Robert “John” Tanton passed away Tuesday October 13, 2009. John was born to Robert and Eileen Tanton August 6, 1944 in Leysdown, England, Isle of Sheppey. They moved to Canada when he was 2 years old. John spent his childhood years in Penticton and Edmonton. He studied Instrumentation at Nait and went on to enjoy a successful career. For several years he was an instructor at Siast in Moose Jaw. Later he was employed by Consumers Co-operative Refineries in Regina. He retired in 2004 and continued to lead an active life. John loved to travel, whether it was a trip to Europe, a road trip, or simply a trip to the slurpee store. He had a soft spot for all animals, especially his horse Arthur in earlier years, and more recently his most cherished cat LuLu. John had always been up for a round of golf, a hand of bridge, or a game of poker. He leaves to mourn his wife Norma; two daughters and three grandsons: Lesley (Jeff) Borrowman and son Adam of Calgary, Michelle (Keith) Randall and their two sons Donovan and Justin of Ponoka, AB; one sister Barbara (Bob) Gilbert and their two daughters Jessica and Krista of Fort McMurray, AB; and one brother Stephen (Elaine) Tanton of Calgary, AB. There will be a private family celebration of John’s life. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917 Albert St., Regina, SK, S4P 9Z9. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

NORA BERGER (neé Smale)
February 22, 1926 – February 2, 2009

In her 82nd year, Nora Berger passed peacefully in the loving embrace of her children February 2, 2009 at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years John Berger, her parents Henry and Eva Smale, brothers: Karl, Lloyd, Elmer, Elwyn; and sisters Faye and Thelma. She is survived by sisters Valerie and Betty, and sisters-in-law Margaret and Lois Smale. To celebrate her life, Nora leaves her five children, Charles (Monique) Berger, Brenda (Gordon) Gannon, Shelley (Bill) Rowein, Kim (Loretta) Berger, and Monty (Sandra) Berger. Also celebrating her life are nine grandchildren: Connie, Scarlet, Shane, Billy, Charlie, Becky, Jody, Bobby, and Alissa; two step-grandchildren: Ashley and Sara, and eight great-grandchildren: Brandon, Montana, Mathew, Morgan, Hunter, Lucas, Rhett, and Evaya. Nora was born and raised in McCord, SK. Following employment in Assiniboia and Moose Jaw, she met and married the love of her life John Berger. Nora was a loving wife, dedicated mother and a very great cook, as can be attested by all who enjoyed her hospitality. In addition, Nora will be well remembered for her creative talents and abilities – especially regarding gardening, poetic prose, oil painting, and crocheting. She was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed her reputation as a particularly successful bingo player and very able card player. Nora will be sorrowfully missed by all. Family and friends take comfort in the fond memories and the way she so positively impacted their lives. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the Redeemer Church in Swift Current on Friday February 6, 2009 at 10:00 am An Evening Prayer Service will be held at the Church on Thursday at 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at the Central Butte Memorial Cemetery. A special “thank you” is extended to the dedicated and adept physicians, nurses, and staff at both the Cypress Regional Hospital and Home Care Services. Memorials in Nora’s memory may be made to the Cypress Regional Hospital, 2004 Saskatchewan Drive, Swift Current, S9H 5M8, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1220A, 1150 Central Ave. N., Swift Current, S9H 4C8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Nora, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home.
