The family of John Richard Docherty announces his passing on November 10, 2007. John was born in Moose Jaw but spent most of his working life as an electronics engineer in various locations in Canada, the United States and Asia . Early in his career he was employed by the CBC Toronto as supervisor for the installation and operation of television studio and mobile equipment. He was also responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment for a satellite tracking station in Newfoundland, and for a major Royal Canadian Navy installation. John also spent several years in the Philippines as chief installation engineer with ITT in a communication and navigational aid project at the Manila International Airport. In his retirement years he continued his education at the University of Regina and proctored University extension classes. John is survived by a son and daughter and their families in Winnipeg, a sister Leith Knight of Moose Jaw, and numerous cousins in Canada and the United States. A graveside service will be conducted by the Reverend John Carley of Minto United Church at a later date when the cremated remains will be interred in the family plot at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorial donations in John's name may be made to Wakamow Valley Authority, Box 1266, Moose Jaw S6H 4P9. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
TAMMY AMELL (nee Thelma Bendle)
On November 16, 2006, TAMMY passed away peacefully at the age of 61 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of forty years, Bob; their grandson, Cole – whom they were raising after their daughter Amber passed away in April of this year; son, Douglas (Heidi); granddaughters: Sage and Devon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Tammy was also predeceased by her brother, Jim Bendle, sister, Marlene Dodson, and her parents, Lester and Eva Bendle from the Prince Albert area. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A special thank you to the group of Homecare caregivers for all their work and talks with Tammy. In lieu of flowers, Tammy would greatly appreciate donations to your local Humane Society. BERTHA THIELE
BERTHA KATHARINE THIELE (nee Machmer), passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, at the age of 82 years. Born December 1, 1920 in the Spring Valley district, Bertha was a dedicated wife, mother, doting grandmother, sister and friend who had a very strong faith. Bertha took great pride in her flower garden and will be remembered for her fabulous meals. Predeceased by her parents, Peter and Katherina, her brothers, Adam, Rudolph, and Anton, and her sister, Annie. Bertha is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John, son, Peter (Kathy) and their child, Madison of Regina, sister, Elizabeth Filazek, and her brother, George Machmer. The Worship Service to celebrate God’s gift of Bertha’s life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church (9th Ave. N.W., ˝ km south of Trans Canada Hwy., Moose Jaw). Reverend John Kreutzwieser will officiate. Interment will take place at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley, Saskatchewan. LAWRENCE PEDERSON
Lawrence Pederson, aged 93 years of Tugaske, passed away peacefully at the Central Butte Regency Manor on January 29, 2009. Lawrence was predeceased by his wife Alberta, his parents Peder and Alice, and brothers Arnold and Sverre. He is survived by his brother Norman, sister Madeleine Gunningham, sister in-law Marjorie as well as several nieces, nephews, their families, and many friends. The Funeral Service will be held at the Tugaske Community Hall on Tuesday February 3, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Rick McCorrister will officiate. Interment will follow at the Tugaske Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorials to the Central Butte & District Health Foundation, Box 582, Central Butte, S0H 0T0, or to Tugaske United Church, would be appreciated. IVAN "BUD" PETCOFF
Ivan “Bud” Petcoff of Riverhurst, formerly of Lawson, passed away on Saturday February 14, 2009 in Central Butte, Saskatchewan at the age of 83 years. As a young man Bud was in the Navy. After leaving the Navy Bud farmed for 45 years at Lawson, SK. In 1952 Bud married Muriel Cameron. Bud loved sports especially baseball not only playing as a pitcher but also rooting on his favorite team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Bud also enjoyed curling, card playing, fishing up North was his favorite destination, attending Navy Reunions, as well as being a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Bud loved his family and he traveled many a time to watch his children and grandchildren compete in their activities. In 1988 Bud and Muriel retired to Riverhurst. Bud is predeceased by his parents Marin and Jane; his wife Muriel; his sister Irene; brother in laws Harry and Ken. Bud will be sadly missed by his daughter Joyce (Harold); son Keith (Debbie); grandchildren Quinn, Nolan (Ashley) and Kayla; sister Velma as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy donations can be made to the Central Butte and District Health Foundation or Iver Main Place, Central Butte. A service of Remembrance will be held Wednesday February 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverhurst Community Hall with Reverend Rick McCorrister officiating. STEWART ALEXANDER MUNROE
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Stewart Munroe on Sunday, October 11, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Stewart was born May 3, 1940, on the family farm in Chamberlain. He started his working career in construction with Barber Construction and later with W.F. Botkin Construction. In 1962, he married his sweetheart Patricia Cantelon; and in 1968, with four children in tow, Pat and Stewart took over the family farm. Their fifth child joined the bunch in 1973. Stewart was well known throughout the Chamberlain district serving as a councilor with the R.M. of Craik for over 25 years, as well his Custom Loader and Custom Hay Grinding businesses. Stewart could often be found in his shop where he excelled at fabricating equipment; it was amazing what he could build with a piece of metal and his welder. Stewart and his wife Patricia stayed on the family farm until 2001 at which time they sold the farm and moved in to Moose Jaw. Stewart enjoyed fishing and hunting; he loved to tell stories and became a regular on ‘coffee row’ at the mall. He enjoyed the opportunity to attend any one of his grandchildren’s sporting events and kept in close contact to get the latest update on what each of the grandchildren were doing. Stewart is survived by his loving wife Patricia, four sons Larry (Val) of Moose Jaw; Richard of Wetaskawin, AB; Robert (Theresa) and Jason (Colette) of Mossbank, SK and one daughter Richel (Glen) Gnazdowsky of Rothesay, NB; two sisters Thelma Botkin of Regina, SK and Doris (Cleve) Bennett of Chamberlain, SK; two brothers-in-law Doug (Janet) Cantelon of Pilot Butte, SK and Fred (Darlene) Johnson of Craik, SK; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Stewart was predeceased by his parents, John Henry Munroe and Vera Pearl Howell and step-father Samuel Howell. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday October 16, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at the Chamberlain Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, 7 – 9 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. In living memory of Stewart, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. BEATRICE KABANUK
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Beatrice Kabanuk. Beatrice passed away peacefully April 8, 2010 at 94 years old. Our world was blessed March 2, 1916, when Beatrice Grange entered it. She spent her early years on the family farm in Viceroy, Sk with her parents, auntie and three brothers. She married Joe Kabanuk in 1942, they farmed near Viceroy and also lived in Moose Jaw. Beatrice mothered 6 healthy children, who were her pride and joy. Her family always came first and there was nothing more important to her than them. When Beatrice wasn’t busy caring for her family, she would busy herself with her passions in life; her gardens, flowers, baking the most delicious bread and enjoying the simple things in life. She had the kindest heart for all animals, wildlife and was always mesmerized by the beauty of our earth. She would give you the world and would ask for nothing in return. She will be greeted in heaven by her parents, two brothers and her beloved auntie. Beatrice will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Joe Kabanuk; and their children Lloyd, Joyce, Robert (Loreen), Donald (Diane), Glen (Shirley) Joan (Dwain), her brother Norman (Lena), sister-in-law, Tillie and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In keeping with Beatrice’s request, a private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. In living memory of Beatrice, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
