NORMA BABA

NORMA BABA (nee Bateman), loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the age of 68 years. Norma was born December 31, 1934 in Bateman, Saskatchewan. At age 17, she left Bateman for Swift Current where she began her career at Safeway. She married Farris in 1955, moving to Moose Jaw in 1961 and continued to work at Safeway until her retirement in 1994. Some of her greatest joys in life were watching her children play sports, her grandchildren, crossword puzzles, reading and playing cards. Norma leaves to mourn, her loving husband of 47 years, Farris, her children: Jim (Penny), Tim (Susan), Kathy (Marcel) Bolen, and Gary (Nicole); nine grandchildren: Jamie, Mitch, Melani, Travis, Robyn, Stephanie, Brooklyn, Kaitlin and Zachary; two sisters: Colleen Frank and Treva Swallow and one brother, Cliff Bateman. She also leaves to mourn her many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 17, 2003 at 4:00 pm in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma’s memory may be made to Timothy Eaton Centre, 510 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 3K3. In living memory of Norma, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

SHAUN ROBERTS

Shaun Roberts of Airdrie passed away suddenly on Friday, July 10, 2009 at the age of 31 years. Shaun will be lovingly remembered by his family; wife Karen and children McKenzie, Trinity and Hayden; parents Molly (George) Farrow and Randy (Emily); a very special mother-in-law Marilyn Turner; sisters Candace (Stephen) and Carmen (Aaron); brother Joshua, brother-in-law Steven, grandmother Reva Roberts, 3 nieces and a host of family and friends. A Funeral Service was held at Airdrie Alliance Church, Airdrie Alberta on Thursday, July 16, 2009. A Memorial Tea will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., on Friday July 24, 2009 from 2 - 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shaun Roberts Trust Fund for Shaun’s children.

MONA LOWE

MONA ANNETTE LOWE, (nee Woodley) of Moose Jaw, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2003 surrounded by her family at Moose Jaw Union Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moose Jaw October 19, 1933, she resided at Drinkwater on her family’s farm. Mona attended school in Drinkwater, later moving to Moose Jaw where she graduated grade 12 at Moose Jaw Technical School. Mona graduated from Moose Jaw Normal School in 1953 and taught at Stony Beach prior to marrying Dave Lowe in 1954. She continued her career at various schools in Moose Jaw including Victoria School and was a well-known substitute teacher for many years. Predeceased by her parents Evelyn and Russell Woodley, she is survived by her three children: Wanda (Rich) Lowe-Wickens, Ron (Shona) Lowe, Brian (Laura) Lowe; six grandchildren: Brett-Anne and Mattlan Wickens, Scott and Mitchell Lowe, Brayden and Callum Lowe – all of Calgary, AB., one sister, Joy (Steve) Kutcher of Kelowna, BC., as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Mona was an active member of Diversified Services, serving on the board for ten years - four years as Vice President and was recently honoured by Diversified when they unveiled a plaque, naming the Mona Lowe Conference Room. She also volunteered on the ABC Daycare board as Chairperson for eight years. She canvassed and helped with fund-raising for many non-profit organizations, one of which was the Saskatchewan Special Olympics. Mona was a member of Drinkwater and later St. Andrew’s United Church. She served as Secretary of the SAMR. Throughout her life, she enjoyed all facets of sports and was instrumental in her children’s involvement to this day through her encouragement at all their events. She was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders and Moose Jaw Warriors fan. Mona also enjoyed all curling events, attending a World Curling Championship in recent years. Mona was an active sport participant, particularly enjoying golf in her retirement years with her good friends. As a loving mother, grandmother and sister, Mona will live on in her family’s hearts and through their attitude toward life. Mona was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always looked at the positive side of life and rarely could be seen without a smile on her face. The family wishes to thank the caring health professionals at Pioneer Lodge, Providence Place, the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic and the Moose JawUnion Hospital as well as Dr. Chan, Dr. Miller and Dr. Saleem. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pansegrouw for her genuine concern and compassionate care during our mother’s illness. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw on Monday, July 7, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Peter J. Calhoun will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery following the service. Visitation Sunday evening 7 - 9 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Moose Jaw Diversified Services, 11 Woodlily Dr., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6J 1H1 would be greatly appreciated. In living memory of Mona, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ANDY VADASZ

ANDY VADASZ passed away suddenly on April 23, 2005 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He will be remembered by his mother, Elizabeth Michalski; two sons: Jesse Vadasz and Justin Vadasz and their mother, Sonja Harder, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Andy will be remembered for his incredible sense of humour and the joy that he brought to everyone he met. Andy was a very intelligent man who would help anyone who was in need. He was also a sensational drummer with hands so fast it looked like they were still. Jesse and Justin’s fondest memories of their father are his loud laughter and bright smile, his drumming, huge heart, and his pet monkey, Napoleon. A private ceremony for Andy was held on April 27, 2005 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. There will be no interment as Andy’s body will be cremated. Thank you to everyone for your support and condolences through this time of need.
In living memory of Andy, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

TIM RENNER

TIMOTHY “TIM” C. RENNER of Moose Jaw passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the age of 52 years. Born February 17, 1955 in Moose Jaw, Tim was employed for 25 years with the Canadian Forces. After his retirement from the Canadian Forces, he was employed at Walmart as support Manager then as Sports and Facilities Coordinator for Personnel Support Programs. Predeceased by his father, Allie Wynandts; step-father, Ozzie Renner; father-in-law, Frank Evans; Tim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary “Mare” of Moose Jaw; daughter, Kelly Renner of Moose Jaw and son, Michael (Tammy) of Moose Jaw; grandchildren Alyssa and Steven, mother, Vicki Renner of Regina; brothers Mark (Lavaughn) and family of Corpus Christi, Texas and Darryl (Shelley) and family of Regina; mother-in-law, Ada Evans of Moose Jaw and brother-in-law, Frank (Vicky) Evans and family of Edmonton, as well as many other extended family and close friends. A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery. A memorial gathering to celebrate Tim’s life will be held Friday, August 17, from 2-4 p.m. at the Officers Mess, 15 Wing Moose Jaw. Memorials in Tim’s memory may be made to Relay for Life c/o Canadian Cancer Society, 61 Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. In living memory of Tim, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

NIKKI HAMMER

NIKKI LEE HAMMER, born in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 10, 1986, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 28, 2004 . Nikki was seventeen years of age. She grew up in Moose Jaw and attended St. Michael’s School. She was also a member of the Moose Jaw Families for Change. Nikki loved life and lived each day to the fullest. She thought nothing of pulling a prank on anyone. Nikki embraced everyone as they were and did not judge anyone. Nikki brought joy and happiness wherever she went. She enjoyed music and Walt Disney Tapes. Predeceased by her brother, Warren in 1983, her father, Francis in 1989, grandfather, Oswald Hammer in 2001 and her grandmother, Hattie Hammer in 2004, Nikki leaves behind to mourn, her mother Gwendolyn, her sister Connie, grandparents Tom and Moyra Bennett as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins. Nikki will live on in the hearts of all that knew her. A service to celebrate the life of Nikki will be held on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Aidan Anglican Church (downtown), 124-1st Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw . Reverend Derek Nicholls will officiate. Interment will take place at Chaplin Cemetery at a later time. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening 7-9 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who so wish, memorial donations in Nikki’s memory may be made to the St. Michael’s School Development Centre, Moose Jaw Union Hospital (Children’s Ward) or to Moose Jaw Families for Change. In living memory of Nikki, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin.

ANTHONY L'OSTE-BROWN

It is with great sadness that the family of Tony L’Oste-Brown announce his peaceful passing on the morning of December 19, 2003 with his family by his side. He farmed in the Hazenmore district for forty years. Tony and Florence retired to Moose Jaw in 1980 and the couple became avid members of the Anavets and Legion. Tony was a member of the RCAF in WWII. Predeceased by his wife, Florence in 1994, infant son, Barry in 1956; two sisters: Essie Hunt and Dolly Thompson, and a brother, Dennis L’Oste-Brown. Tony leaves to mourn, his son, Elwyn (Pat) of Lipton, Sask., daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Schroeder of Moose Jaw, one sister, Gwen Rishel (Chuck) of Watrous, Sask., six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, close companion, Phyllis Brown of Moose Jaw and dear friend, Phyllis Robertson of Kincaid. A Celebration of Tony’s Life will be held on Monday, December 22, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorials for the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231 – 8th St. E., Saskatoon, Sask., S7H 0S5 would be appreciated. In living memory of Tony, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
