MARGARET LEIPERT

Mrs. Margaret E. Leipert (nee Taylor) of Regina, formerly of Moose Jaw and Melfort, died Saturday February 17, 2007 at the age of 88 years. Born in Guernsey, SK, she was raised and married in Melfort, SK, Margaret was predeceased by her loving partner of sixty-seven years, Les by just seventeen days. Margaret was always very active in the family endeavors and community events. She was very industrious in her crafts. She worked at Canaday’s Apparel Ltd. for fifteen years and perhaps her most favourite work was running the store at Kenosee Gardens. Margaret will be very much missed by her family and many friends and remembered for her quick wit and endearing smile. Predeceased by her husband Les Leipert (January 31, 2007), her parents, Percy and Anna (Keating) Taylor, sister, Eldeen Tieken; brothers: Creighton (JC) and Lyle; brothers-in-law: Richard Buxton and Lee Tieken, daughter-in-law, Jeanne Leipert, and two nephews: Darryl Tieken and Reggie Taylor. She is survived by sons: Brian (Pauline) – Regina; Bevin (Vi) – Moose Jaw; seven grandchildren: Erik (Beryl), Tim (Jit), Tammy (Julio), Amy (Ken), Trent, Erin and Shaun Hanley; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Hunter, and Anthony, sister, Orion Buxton; sisters-in-law: Eunice Taylor and Dee Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at Zion United Church, 423 Main St. N., Moose Jaw on Saturday February 24, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Cosmopolitan Foundation of Canada Inc., Attn: George Wilson, Treasurer, 1084 East Centre St., Saskatoon, SK, S7J 3A3 or to the Shriners’ Patient Transportation Fund, 2065 Hamilton St., Regina, S4P 2E1, would be appreciated. The family of Les and Marg would like to thank all who assisted in their care, particularly Dr. J.S. McMillan, Regina Pasqua Hospital ICU, Palliative Care, Emergency, the Paramedics, William Albert House Staff and Dr. Fred Wigmore, Moose Jaw. EDWIN LINDELL

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our dear Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather on October 17, 2003. Ed was born and raised in the Brownlee district where he also farmed and raised his family. Community and church were always very important to dad. He enjoyed visiting family and friends, playing cards, bingo and sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pets were also an important part of Ed’s life. Predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Karin, brother, Helmer, sister-in-law, Dorothy, daughter-in-law, Bonnie and grandson, Jay, he is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Lyla. Dad is lovingly remembered by his children: Don and Jean Lindell; Karen and Del Paton; Sherry and Randy Belay; grandchildren: Jodi (Jazdon) Lindell, Justin (Cheryl) Lindell, Darin (Denise) Paton, Jason Paton, Chris, Dana and Teala Belay; great-grandchildren: Parsa, Kaihan, Kayla, Taylor and Kelsey. Step-grandson, Don (Elizabeth) Marisi and great-granddaughter, Shaye. Dad is also survived by his special cousin, Ruth (Ercell) Lindquist. A Celebration of Ed’s life will take place at W. J. Jones and Son Funeral Chapel on Tuesday October 21, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Peter J. Calhoun will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Providence Place or to the Alzheimer Association. In living memory of Edwin a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ALBERT "LEFTY" ERFLE

Albert (Lefty) Erfle, born on March 16, 1922 at Fox Valley, passed away peacefully after a short illness on December 28, 2003 in the Regina General Hospital, with his family at his side. Albert (Lefty) farmed most of his life in the Woodrow area. He was well known for his baseball accomplishments as a pitcher and player throughout the province. He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame in August 1989. Albert was also an avid curling enthusiast in his younger days. He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Garry (Dianne) and daughter, Rhonda (Michael) Scheelar; grandchildren: Janell, Joanne (John), Realean (Clint), Darren, and Brad; great-granddaughter, Alex; several step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters. Albert is predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Lena Erfle, three brothers and one sister. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday, January 2, 2003 at 10:30 am. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6, or the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1, would be appreciated. In living memory of Albert, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JUNE MITCHELL
June 25, 1913 – September 30, 2004

The funeral service for June Mitchell of Moose Jaw will be held at 2pm, on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on 9th Ave. NW, Moose Jaw. Lunch to follow. Private burial has taken place. Family, friends, and neighbors are invited to attend this service. June Caroline Mitchell of Providence Place passed away on Sept. 30, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Mitchell of Mitchellton district in 1982, June is survived by two sons; Glen (Beth) of Mossbank and grandchild, Kent (Leanne), great grandchildren Tess and Adam; grandchild Marnie (Darren), great grandson Reid; son, Garner (Shiela) of Regina and grandchildren Kyle (Crystal), Jesse, Tami and Jayne. June was born in Moose Jaw to Irvine and Ida Garner, newly arrived immigrants from the USA. She started life in a homestead sod shack in the Galilee district. She married Bill Mitchell in 1939 and they farmed and ranched in the Mitchellton district until they retired to Moose Jaw in 1971. June had a life long love of learning and was highly self educated in many fields; gardening, vegetables and flowers, animals, geography, history, politics, and mathematics, and more. She developed into a talented writer and storyteller. June was dedicated to her church and her belief in God. She was family, people and community orientated. She became a world traveler; Africa, Asia, Europe, China, India, the South Pacific, Americas and many more exotic locations were visited. She developed a wide circle of friends and contacts. June was active in community organizations and served in judging speech competitions. June was predeceased by her brother Bud, sisters; Matti Swanson-McColl and Phyllis Ingleby and is lovingly remembered by sister-in-law, Alvina Meyers of Montpelier, ND, and by numerous nieces and nephews. June was a woman who lived life fully she will be remembered and cherished. The family gives special thanks to Providence Place staff for their kindness to mom over the last year. Memorial donations to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Box 1376, Moose Jaw, S6H 4R3 or to Providence Place, 100 Second Ave. NE, Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8, would be appreciated. BOB PATTERSON

BOB PATTERSON passed away peacefully on April 28, 2007. Born January 4, 1947 in Moose Jaw, he leaves to mourn: Darlene, his wife of 39 years, daughter Mona, son Cisco (Lisa) of Swift Current; four grandchildren: Victoria, Kenny, Bauer and Cooper, his mother-in-law Hilda Weinbender; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harold & Shirley, Gord & Pat, Ralph & Star, as well as nine nieces and nephews and a long list of friends. Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The Service of Remembrance was held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 2p.m. in the Morse Community Hall. Those wishing to make a donation, please do so to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Bob, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin, Saskatchewan .

CALVIN ELDSTROM

CALVIN ELDSTROM passed away after a brief illness on August 21, 2006 at the Surrey Memorial Hospital. Cal was born on February 8, 1940. He obtained his schooling through grade twelve and engineering classes at SIAST in Moose Jaw. He then furthered his Engineering education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbour. Returning to Moose Jaw, he worked briefly for Redi-Mix Limited, Inland Construction, and the City of Moose Jaw. Cal moved to Alberta where he worked for the City of Edmonton for a short while before residing in British Columbia. Settling in Surrey, he began his career with the Township of Langley, retiring in 2005. Cal was an avid runner and played many sports. He was an active member of the Plamors hockey club as well as the Moose Jaw Mallards baseball organization. He loved bowling, golf and jogging. Cal was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Ella. He is survived by his brothers, Byron (Gina), Arnold (Lynda), and Donald (Joanne). He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to meet with Cal’s family for a time of remembrance held in Moose Jaw on Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Moose Jaw Y.M.C.A. Endowment Fund, 220 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 6H2 would be appreciated. In living memory of Calvin, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JERRY BRUCE

Jerry Bruce, of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 16, 2007, at the age of 61. Jerry is survived by a son, Jeff (Alison), grandchildren Ceanna and Cassidy; his mother, Lil Gallagher; and aunt Louise Bruse and her families. A Memorial Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday April 20, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Private family inurnment will follow. In living memory of Jerry, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

VERN CALDWELL

EDGAR VERNON “VERN" CALDWELL of Moose Jaw, formerly of Holdfast, passed away peacefully April 29, 2007, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born July 10, 1922 in Moose Jaw. Vern loved the land and all aspects of farming. His love of farming came from an early age growing up on the farm, as his grandparents had come to Saskatchewan in 1903 and began the legacy of the Caldwell farming operations. As a testament to the pioneers a road has been named after the family, Caldwell Road. Keeping with tradition, Vern’s son Morley continues to carry on the family farm. Vern helped with the farm, for it was his passion until 2005. He was a World War II Veteran working as a Dispatch Rider and overseas he fought with the 83rd Company. He was a member of the Holdfast United Church, an avid member of the sports in Holdfast, a member of the Cosmo Club, and a season ticket holder of the Moose Jaw Warriors until 2006. Vern enjoyed his friends, joining them for coffee, playing cards, and being social. He was very well known and loved by all those that met him. Predeceased by his parents, Allen and Floss Caldwell, an aunt, Beverly Caldwell and husband (Paul Searcy), and uncle, Rex Caldwell. Vern will be very sadly missed by his wife of fifty-four years, Isobel; sons: Tom (Vicky) and Morley; grandsons: Ryan and Allen, sister, Elaine (Caldwell) Myrah and her husband Wes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held. For those so wishing, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Moose Jaw Multiplex Fund. In living memory of Vernon, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
