George Kitchener Wild, born August 19, 1914 in Middlesbrough, England passed away February 7, 2007 in Moose Jaw. Predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 2002 and a brother, Alan in 2006 in England. He will be greatly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Pari Razvi, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jean Wild; grandchildren, Hassan and Marilena Razvi, Sheena and Barry Nabholz, Shameem and Duane Arndt, David and Tenille Wild. His much loved great-grandchildren, Scott, Erica and Gillian Johnston, Kyle and Olivia Arndt, Matthew and Claire Razvi and nieces in England. As requested there will be a private family graveside service. George was a WWII Veteran and served with the Duke of Wellington’s Light Infantry in India. In lieu of flowers donations to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3, or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated. JOHN WENARCHUK
JOHN WENARCHUK peacefully passed away at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw on May 29, 2008. He was born in Canora, Saskatchewan September 21, 1935. He traveled across Canada as a musician with many bands, later settling in Moose Jaw where he married Isabel Windsor in 1957. John worked for ten years at Palm Dairies while he continued playing music in local bands. John’s passion was playing music, leading him to open John’s Music Ltd. which is being carried on by his family. Predeceased by his parents and sister, Elsie Boreski, John is survived by his devoted wife of fifty years, Isabel; three sons: Jerry (Karen) and their sons: Jesse and Mitchell; Darren (Diane) and their sons: Zane and Tyson; Ryan (Rhonda) and their daughters: Raquel and Jasmin; sister, Mary McGregor as well as many nieces and nephews in the Winnipeg area. He is also survived by sisters-in-law: Dorothy May, Edith (Doug) Crosby, Muriel (Laurence) Drysdale, Norma (Ernie) Folk and Iris (Don) Craig, and many nephews, nieces, along with so many good friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Nobuko Iwai will officiate, with Cec Glover providing the tribute. Memorialization will take place privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3. ALLAN BALFOUR
Allan Balfour of Moose Jaw, passed away Thursday September 28, 2006 at the age of 99 years. He was born in Kincardeneshire, Scotland on July 17, 1907. He came to Canada with his family in 1914, settling in the Willows district near Assiniboia, where he farmed for many years. Allan married Ida Puddell in October 1938. They retired to James Street in Moose Jaw in the early 1970’s, then later moved to Langdon Towers. Allan and Ida enjoyed many trips during the winters to Florida and Texas, and visiting relatives in BC. Allan also enjoyed playing cards and board games, and loved to watch curling. Due to ill health, Allan was admitted to Providence Place, where he resided for the past 3 years. Allan is predeceased by two sisters, Doreen and Elizabeth, and a brother James. He is survived by his wife, Ida; and many other relatives. A Celebration of Allan’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday October 2, 2006 at 1:30 pm . Reverend Frank Mitchell will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to a charity of choice, would be appreciated. HAROLD SEABROOK
Harold Andrew Francis Seabrook, of Moose Jaw, passed away January 20, 2004. Harold was born July 3, 1919 at Aiktow, Sask., eldest son of Herman and Elizabeth Seabrook. He received his education in Moose Jaw at King Edward School. Harold married Lena Langman on July 3, 1942 and together they raised six children, Gerald, Ronald, Wayne, Richard, Sharon, and Dale. Harold served on the Prince David as a cook during WWII. He went through many experiences during the War and returned home to raise his family. He was a family man, loved and respected by all who knew him. He was the best father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Harold is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, one sister, son Ronald, and wife Lena. He leaves to mourn his sons, Jerry (Norma) – Carrot River; Wayne (Ila) – Sherwood Park; Rick (Karen) – Moose Jaw; Dale (Anita) and her children – Saskatoon; daughter, Sharon (Glenn) Hall – Moose Jaw; seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; special friend, Goldie Seabrook of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. DORIS SITTER
Doris Victoria Sitter passed away suddenly in the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, on Monday, March 23, 2009 at the age of 89, with her family at her side. She is predeceased by her three brothers Stewart (Helen), Bernard (Gladys), Gerald (Harriet), three sisters Louise (Sam), Alice (Wes), Grace Eloise, Uncle Lloyd Myers, and grandchild Kent Nielsen. Doris will be greatly missed but always treasured by her five children John, Gary (partner Deborah), Sharyn, Anna Marie (Gordon), and Eloise (Jim); grandchildren: Susan (Heinz), Scott (Brenda), John Barry, Kimberley (Darcy), Karen (partner John), Kristofor (Jamie), Mark (Tanya), Betina (Michael), Jeffrey (Jette), Tammy (Scott), Todd (Jennifer), Ted (Sarah), Kevin (Leslie), Glenn (Colleen), and thirty-two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Doris was born on January 7, 1920. She was the first baby girl born in the new Victoria Hospital in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. Following the death of her mother, Doris, at the age of two, lived with her grandmother in Zanesville, Ohio. In 1934, she returned to Vanguard, continuing her education and starting her dance career, teaching 35 students in the town theatre. Doris was one of the pioneers of dance in Saskatchewan. In 1948, she established the Moose Jaw School of Dancing and in 1966 officially registered the school now known as the Doris Sitter School of Dance. Over the years, she has willingly and with great determination shared her quality of teaching with thousands of students in a kind and caring way and inspired the best in every student – ‘Every Child a Star’. She retired in 2008 after 60 years as Director of the Doris Sitter School of Dance. Aside from her dancing, she owned and operated a clothing store ‘Carousel Costumes and Dance Supplies Limited’. Fashion was also one of her passions and her high heeled shoes were almost her trademark – even at 89 years of age. Doris developed a genuine love for painting in oils and water colors. Her paintings were displayed at the Moose Jaw Cultural Center in May 2008. She enjoyed travelling for pleasure and study and did so extensively throughout North America and Europe. In 2006, she was invited to attend the Inaugural World Forum at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford England as Ambassador for Canada. Doris was the recipient of many awards and tributes throughout the years. Her most recent include: The Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world; the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award 2007, and the American Biographical Institutes Hall of Fame honour 2008. It was once said of Doris, by a friend and admirer, “I can only say her beauty inside and outside makes me quote Winston Churchill, “We make a Living by what we Get, but we make a Life by what we Give.” Given all her accomplishments and success Doris ’s greatest success was her roll as an amazing mother and matriarch to her family. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1034 Third Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, on Saturday March 28, 2009 at 10:00 am. Reverend Father Job Adai will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Evening Prayer Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday evening at 7:00 pm, with visitation to follow. Memorials to the CNIB, 2550 Broad St., Regina, S4P 9Z9, or to the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre, 217 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, S6H 0W1, would be appreciated. DON WRIGHT
Donald William Wright, aged 66 years of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly on Friday June 13, 2003 in the Regina General Hospital. Don was born on April 26, 1937 to Edmond and Dorothy Wright. Up until recent health problems, Don worked as a truck driver, enabling him to make some lasting friendships throughout various parts of Saskatchewan. Don was an avid hunter and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Don is predeceased by his parents and brother Edmond (Ted). He is survived by his children: Damond (Sharon) - Fort McMurray, AB; Debbie (Pete Bourassa) - Calgary, AB; Kevin (Roberta) - Moose Jaw and Crystal (Brad Peterson) - Saskatoon; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; special friend Wendy, as well as numerous friends and acquaintances. Following Cremation, a Celebration of Don's Life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Pastor John Doerksen will officiate. Memorialization will take place privately at a later date. Memorials to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104 - 2301 Avenue C. North, Saskatoon, S7L 5Z5, would be appreciated. BILL SHEPHERD
WILLIAM (BILL) MITCHELL SHEPHERD JR. of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully August 22, 2009, at the age of 69 years. Bill was born October 15, 1939 in Kelvington, Saskatchewan and later moved to Moose Jaw with the family. He worked with Prairie South School Division until his retirement in 1998. Bill was a long time member of the Anavets, enjoyed playing darts, golf, and watching the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He was predeceased by parents Bill Sr. and Blanche; three brothers: Marshall, Don and Jim. Bill will be lovingly remembered by wife Carol, brother Colin; children: Terry (Fran) and Karen (Jerry); special grandchildren: Kasi and Jesse, along with Catlin, Savannah and Allan. He will also be missed by special friends Wayne and Bettye Day, Alex and Jenny Patterson and by his cats Socks and Shadow, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill will be missed dearly by his entire family. Following a family graveside service at Sunset Cemetery, they invite you to join them for a memorial tea in memory of Bill on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the W. J.
