BRYAN (DANNY) FISHER formerly of Admiral, Saskatchewan died peacefully in Moose Jaw Union Hospital on July 14, 2005 at the age of 75 years, after a long battle with emphysema and diabetes. He was predeceased by his parents Madeline and Richard, one sister Rosemarie, one brother Wilfred; two brothers-in-law Dale and Sully, one sister-in-law Armande, and one son Glenn. Danny is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Joan; three sisters Ruby, Jeannette and Shirley (Dave); two brothers Dennis and Gerald (Connie), sister-in-law Kay, brother-in-law Steve (Anita), children: Pam (Willard) Larson of Regina, Chris (Carol) Fisher of Lumsden, Rhonda (Mike) Tremblay of Moose Jaw, Mark (Marlis) Fisher of Lumsden and their families including eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Danny was born in Creelman, Saskatchewan on March 24, 1930. He worked for the CP Railway for eighteen years and was a grain buyer for Federal Grain and Pioneer Grain for thirty years. Danny lived for sports. Many will remember him as an avid coach, referee and umpire across Southern Saskatchewan. Thank you to Dr. Rininsland for his care over the last five years as well as sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff of home care. Following cremation and a family memorialization in Prairie Memorial Columbarium, A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Linda Owens will officiate. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, contributions to Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231 – 8th St. E., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7H 0S5 may be made as a token of remembrance. GAY WILLIAMS
Gladys (Gay) Nora Williams, nee Mills, age 91, passed away peacefully at Pioneer Lodge, Moose Jaw on Saturday, July 28, 2007, with her daughter Sandra and son-in-law Lloyd by her side. Gay was predeceased by her husband Frank Williams in 1977 and grandson Craig Wheeler in 1999, as well as nine brothers and sisters. Gay will be missed and is fondly and lovingly remembered by, her daughter Sandra and son-in-law, Lloyd Luhning of Moose Jaw and daughter Ellyse Barlow (Nigel Bowman) of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren Dawn Luhning (David Danchilla) of Moose Jaw and Ryan (Carolyn) Luhning and great-grand-daughter and “sweetheart" Grace of Calgary, AB; and Chris Wheeler; sister-in-law Marian McCullough of Allen, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gay worked for the Bank of Montreal in Regina until her retirement in 1981. Her monthly luncheons with her fellow Bank of Montreal retirees were one of the highlights of her life. Her greatest enjoyment was her family, her grandchildren and the arrival of her great grand-daughter. She especially loved watching sports including baseball, football, curling and golf, her favourite teams being the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jays. Gay’s family graciously thanks the staff at Pioneer Lodge and Chateau St. Michael’s for their care and compassion in making her last weeks so comfortable. A celebration of Gay’s life will take place at W. J. Jones and Son Chapel on Thursday August 2, 2007 at 1:30 pm. A private family memorialization will take place in the morning of August 2 at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Regina where Gay will re-join her beloved husband Frank in the Veterans Section. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2360 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6, the CNIB 2550 Broad St., Regina, S4P 9Z9, or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. She was the sparkle in our family’s lives and we will miss her spirited sense of humour, her honesty and perspective on all the wonders of life and her infectious laugh and smile. PATRICIA KAY SMITH
Patricia Kay Smith passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the age of 76. Kay was born in Central Butte, SK. Kay was raised and cared for by her parents until 1964 at which time Kay moved to Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw, where she was lovingly known as PK. Kay had a love of reading, took a keen interest in what was going on around her, and participated in activities at Valley View. Kay is predeceased by her parents Donald and Violet Smith. Kay will be sadly missed by her sister Joan Nicoll, brother Bob Smith and his wife Chris, sister-in-law Elaine Smith, as well as Teresa Andries, Sharlene Smith, Shelley DuChene, Debbie-Ann Froud, Robert Smith, and Cody Morash, four great-nieces and three great-nephews, one great-great niece, and one great-great-nephew. The Funeral Service will be held at Valley View Centre, Moose Jaw, on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at 1:30 pm, with Reverend Earla McKinnell officiating. Kay will be laid to rest alongside her mother and father in the Central Butte Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Valley View Centre, Grants and Donations Fund. KEN GIBBS
Kenneth Albert Gibbs of Moose Jaw, passed away in Regina General Hospital on January 12, 2005 with his family at his side. Ken was born on May 5, 1933 in Moose Jaw. He worked for the CPR for 35 years. Ken spent most of his life in the southeast part of Moose Jaw. He was a member of the Eagles Club, also serving on their executive. Ken loved to garden, and enjoyed having coffee with friends. Predeceased by his father, mother, brother, sister, and his wife Rose in 2003. He is survived by his children: Carol (Brian) Miller of Moose Jaw, Dale Gibbs of Moose Jaw, Pat (Dan) Dubé of Calgary, and their mother, Millie; and one grandson, William Mitchell. He is also survived by brothers and sisters: Don of Courtenay, BC, Dick of Prince Albert, SK, Allan of Surrey, BC, Norah Ivers of Kindersley, SK, and Doris (Ken) Wright of Moose Jaw. At Ken’s request, there will be no funeral service. Friends are invited to share in Ken’s memory at the Eagle’s Club, 561 Home St. W., on Saturday January 15, 2005 from 2 – 4 pm. MURIEL PETCOFF
MURIEL ELAINE PETCOFF (nee Cameron), age 77 years, passed away in Central Butte on Monday, April 5, 2004 . Born in Moose Jaw October 30, 1926, and raised in Briercrest. Muriel was a longtime resident of Lawson until her retirement to Riverhurst in 1988. In 2002 she moved to Central Butte Regency Manor where she resided until her passing. Predeceased by her parents, James and Agnes Cameron, brother, Ross Cameron; brothers-in-law: Howard Duncan and Harry Cook, a niece, Grace Duncan, as well as one nephew Harvey Cook. Muriel is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ivan (Bud); her children: Joyce Langer (Harold) of Riverhurst and Keith Petcoff (Debbie) of Saskatoon; grandchildren: Quinn, Nolan and Kayla Langer; brothers: Gordon Cameron (Jean) and Alan Cameron, sister, Heather Duncan; sisters-in-law: Joyce Cameron, Irene Cook and Velma Jewsbury (Ken), uncle, Jim Smith, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Service to Celebrate Muriel’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverhurst Community Hall. Reverend Helen Reid will officiate. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date. Memorials to the Arthritis Society, 110-2550-12th Ave., Regina, Sask., S4P 3X1 would be appreciated by the family. THEODORE MARVIN SPATE of Morse, Saskatchewan passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the age of 72. Ted was born on the Spate family farm on September 22, 1936. He was schooled at the Wildflower Country School. He married Myrna Joan Glydon in 1963 and farmed together until Myrna’s passing in 1976. They had three children: Brenda (Michael Charabin) and their family: Gregory, and Scott of North Battleford; Colleen (Wes Healey) and their family: Ashley, and Tyson of Eston; and Jason (Kris Horvath) and their family: Dawson, and Topanga of Morse. Ted will be sadly missed by his children and grandchildren. He will also be lovingly remembered by sister, Irene Binner of Moose Jaw and brother-in-law, Kelvin (Orla Mae) Glydon of Morse; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Christian and Marie, sister, Margaret and brothers-in-law, Frank and Wilfred. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the Morse Community Hall. Larry Redekopp will officiate. Interment will follow at the Morse Cemetery. HENRY LAWRENCE
HENRY LAWRENCE of Moose Jaw passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008 in the Moose Jaw Union Hospital at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by his wife, Joyce in December 2006, Henry is survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
