HARRY ROBB
It is with great sadness that the family of Harry Alexander Robb announce his passing on January 25, 2003 at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw. Harry was born on a farm near Boharm February 12, 1911. He attended Westview School and worked hard on the family farm at Archydal. Harry married Edythe Barrett in 1934 and they farmed in the Marquis district until 1945 when they bought land at Stony Beach. They continued farming until they retired to Moose Jaw in 1975. Harry served as a municipal councilor for many years in the Pense municipality and was proud to serve his community. Harry and Edythe traveled extensively with their many friends and relatives. Dad enjoyed curling, visiting and playing cards. He was a loyal friend. Harry had a keen mind and would willingly recite Robert Service and Robbie Burns poetry, with little prompting, all his life. During his lifetime, he observed many changes ranging from farming with an eight-horse hitch to watching men land on the moon. Dad was an excellent horseman and took great pride in his skills. He had an abiding faith in God and raised his children to know the Lord. On cold, wintry Sunday evenings, it was common for the family to gather around the piano as Mom played and the rest us the family made “a joyful noise unto the Lord”. After he lost his life companion, he continued to live on his own until failing health caused him to move into Pioneer Lodge in 1998. The staff were so special at the Lodge, and the family will never forget the loving home they created for Harry. Harry will be remembered as a sensitive, loving and generous man who was always willing to help and loved to be needed. He is predeceased in 1988 by his beloved wife of 54 years, Edythe; his parents, Alexander and Helena; and four sisters. Harry leaves to mourn his son, Barrett (Helene); daughters, Patricia (Henry) and Yvonne; brother, Russell (Agnes); eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at 11:00 am. Henry Murray will officiate. Harry will be buried next to his beloved wife, Edythe, at the Caron Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday evening 7 – 9 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pioneer Lodge, 1000 Albert Street, Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2, would be appreciated by the family. In living memory of Harry, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
