Dora (Parr) Crozier, long time resident of Moose Jaw and area, passed away in Regina on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the age of 91 years. Dora is predeceased by her husband, Howard in 1953; her son, Hugh in 2003; four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Joyce and Bill Koroluk – Melfort, Dorothy and Con (Marlyn) Thordarson – Regina; daughter-in-law, Irene – Calgary; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, two sisters, three sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Dora’s life will be held at Zion United Church, 423 Main Street North, Moose Jaw on Friday, June 6, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Linda Owens will officiate. Memorialization has taken place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, S6H 4P2, Zion United Church Memorial Fund, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. LILIAN WILKINSON
ELIZABETH LILIAN EMILY “LIL” WILKINSON passed away peacefully on March 20, 2005 at Pioneers Lodge at the age of 91. Lil was born in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan on June 11, 1913 and grew up in Southern Saskatchewan. Her family settled in Tuxford in 1932. Lil attended Teacher’s College in Regina and started her teaching career at Petain (south of Piapot) in 1933. Lil met Lorne Wilkinson in 1935 and they were married in 1944. They farmed at Tuxford until 1978 when they moved to Moose Jaw. Lil was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was active throughout her adult life and enjoyed bowling, curling and traveling. Lil also enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, a great game of cards, and volunteering in the community. She loved spending summers at the lake with her family. While at Pioneers Lodge Lil enjoyed many visits with friends and family including furry friends, Zoe and Laika. Lil was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Frances Bourne and husband, Lorne. Lil will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lynne (Gerald) Bayne; grandsons: Erin (Heather) and great-granddaughter, Hannah; Ryan (Robin) and sister-in-law, Ruth Akins. Following interment at Rosedale Cemetery, A Celebration of Lil’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to Pioneers Lodge, 1000 Albert Street, Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2. MRS. ROSE SPICER of Moose Jaw died Sunday, April 26, 2009 after a short illness at the age 93 years. Predeceased by her first husband John Stamina, second husband Albert Spicer, son Garry and daughter-in-law Evelyn Stamina, brothers Ace and Danny, sisters Annie, Grace, Margaret and Eileen, Rose is survived by her son Danny Stamina of Moose Jaw, daughters Helen (Jack) Hurrell of Calgary, Leona (Wayne) Taylor of Kelowna and Marie (Merv) Knelsen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, brother Connie Popescul (Lena) of Edmonton, sisters Marie Medwid of Regina, Eleanor (Reno) Roy of Weyburn, Valerie Shymko of Calgary, Doris (Peter) Yakimshyn of Calgary, sister-in-law Marjorie Popescul of Regina; step-daughter Doreen (Walter) Avery of Estevan, step-son Morris (Sandi) Spicer of Portland, Oregon, step-son Roy Spicer of Vancouver; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Andrew’s United Church Chapel, 60 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Earla McKinnell will officiate. BOB BELISLE
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Belisle on January 7, 2004. Bob leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend of 22 years, Beth, sons Eric and Paul, mother and father, Ray and Kay Belisle of Moose Jaw; sisters Sharon (Greg) Montgomery, Clarice (Jeff) Montgomery, Doreen (Greg) Dessert, all of Moose Jaw, Lorie (Tony) Obuck of Regina; brothers, Dennis (Marion) of Saskatoon, Rod of Moose Jaw, and Terry (Kim) of Lacombe, AB. An extended family of many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many special friends who were all a very important part of his life. Bob was born in Moose Jaw on June 14, 1957 and lived here his whole life. He attended Peacock Collegiate, and his passions in high school were playing football, the Friday Afternoon Club, track and keeping physically fit. Bob worked in the construction industry as a Journeyman Carpenter for over 20 years and in 1995 he returned to school and became a 3rd Class Power Engineer, and was continuing his studies to obtain his 2nd Class. He was employed with Cogema Resources until his passing. Bob had a very strong commitment to his community and demonstrated this by his active participation in the development of Elgin Park. Bob was a very loving, devoted husband, father and son. He had many hobbies and interests that included year round fishing, boating, skidoos, carpentry, gardening, and cooking. Bob will be sadly missed by all who loved him. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Alliance Church, (Corner of 9th and Thatcher Drive), on Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. FRED COURTNAGE
On October 4, 2003 at the age of 87, Fred Courtnage passed away peacefully at Providence Place with his family at his side. He is predeceased by his sister, Constance Brown in 1998. Fred leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 63 years, Jessie; his sons, Ralph and his wife, Juanita of Moose Jaw; Donald and his wife, Pat of Winnipeg; granddaughter, Alesya and her husband Anthony of Toronto; grandsons, Todd of Moose Jaw; Ryan and Darren of Calgary; and Andrew of Winnipeg; and his sister, Dorothy Mair and her husband, Alex of Moose Jaw. Fred managed the family business, Moose Jaw Distributing Company (International Harvester dealership) for 33 years, until his retirement in 1974 at the age of 58. The family would like to thank the staff of Providence Place for the special care they gave Dad over the past three years. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Linda Owens will officiate. Memorialization will take place privately at Prairie Memorial Columbarium. Mrs. Laura Helen “Peggy” Edmands of Moose Jaw passed away July 8, 2006. Born in Moose Jaw May 24, 1920, Peggy loved sports and avidly participated in softball, swimming, bowling and golf; sharing her skills and enthusiasm with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Paul, daughter, Robbie (Jim) Little; sons: Bob (Brenda) Edmands and Rod ( Lynn ) Edmands; brothers: Joe (Louisa) Gould and Norman (Phyllis) Gould. Respecting Peggy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, instead, share a favorite story or memory with your family and friends. MRS. MARY “MOLLY” HASKINS, of Moose Jaw, passed away Monday, May 12, 2003, at the age of 100 years. Born in Bancroft, Ontario July 22, 1902, Molly was predeceased by her parents, John and Jessie Bremner; husbands: Stanley Smith, Jerry Schaefer and Bert Haskins; brothers and sisters: Laura Hall, Clifford Bremner, Edith Kaderle, Bert Bremner and Frank Bremner; and two infant daughters: Patsy and Phyllis Smith. Molly leaves to cherish her memory, son, Reverend Father Ramon Smith of Roswell, New Mexico; sisters: Edna Roberts of Moose Jaw, Winnie Carson of Tuscan, Arizona and Dorothy Wang of Scottsdale, Arizona, sister-in-law, Myrtle Bremner of Prince George, B.C., as well as numerous nieces and nephews in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Manitoba, U.S.A. and Bermuda including Molly’s special care giver, Dorothy Boszak.
