ELIZABETH BAGNALL

Elizabeth Bagnall, age 93, passed away May 9, 2004 in Calgary, Alberta. She was born in Grainland, Sask. on December 9, 1910. For many years after her marriage to Bert Bagnall, she lived in the Moose Jaw area. One son, Leslie (Delores) Bagnall of Vernon, BC, one daughter, Lillian (Eldon) Neufeldt of Calgary; two sisters: Rose Ford and Mary Harris, one sister-in-law, Laura Bishop, one brother-in-law, Ernest Bagnall, eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews mourn her passing. Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband Bert, daughter Adeline, one sister and four brothers. Evening Prayer Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Our Lady, Moose Jaw, on Friday May 14, 2004 at 11:00 am. Father Alex Osei will preside assisted by Stephanie Molloy. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In living memory of Elizabeth, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

CYRIL HICKS

MR. CYRIL HICKS passed away June 29, 2004 on his beloved farm at Marquis, Saskatchewan. Born October 6, 1918 at Bremner County, Plainfield, Iowa, Cyril farmed his whole life in the Marquis district except for his service time during World War II when he was a pilot with the RCAF. He was a member of the Marquis Public School Board and was a Councilor for the R.M. of Marquis. He was also a board member for the Marquis United Church. Predeceased by his wife, Mildred; sons: Alan and Ross, parents, George and Clara Hicks, and sister, Ruth Molitoni, Cyril is survived by his son, David (Dorothy), daughter, Lynne (Art) Dunbar; grandchildren: Greg (Denean), Derek (Tanis), Jason (Christy), Blair, Tara (Greg) and Jeff (Lynn); great-grandchildren, Liam, Avery and Rachael; two brothers: Wesley (Vi) and Bob (Maxine); and two sisters: Margaret and Vivian (Charlie) as well as nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 5, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Gary Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360, 2nd Ave., Regina, Sask., S4R 1A6 or to the Salvation Army, 175 1st Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 0Y9. In living memory of Cyril, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

ALEXANDER MERTICK

Alexander J. Mertick passed away on Thursday January 17, 2008 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Alex was born in Montreal, Que., on March 28, 1916 to a Romanian couple, Mike and Ravecca Mertick. Such began Alex’s life highlighted by his marriage to Helen (Petrescue) and four children: Diane (Alby) Williams, Gerald (Elva), Clifford (Brigitte), and George (deceased in childhood). Alex’s joy was extended to grandchildren: Jayda (Justin) Mercier, Diedre (Dom) Rubino, Jon, Thad, Jeff (Elsia), Kelly (Graham) Sluth, Alexis, and four great-grandchildren: Skye, Summer, Valencia, and Abbey. He was predeceased by Lily Iliana Colcerin, George, Grace (Petrisor), Annie (Petrisor), and John; he is survived by a sister Lorraine (Crane) and sister-in-law Hattie Mertick. Recently, Alex reflected on his “very good retirement” from the farm, Lake Diefenbaker saw many a fish taken, but what brought Dad more satisfaction than word puzzles and knitted coat hangers and even more love for the violin, was conversing about Jehovah and Paradise Earth. Though educated little, he was a most intelligent and common sense person. He taught his children to respect life including animal life. He was humble hearted and would never turn away a neighbour or stranger in need. He will be “missed”. Special thanks to Dr. Brian Sanderson for his compassionate care over the years. The Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday January 21, 2008 at 2:00 pm. James Sikorski, minister of Jehovah Witnesses will officiate. Memorials to the Sask.Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6, or the Sask. Lung Association, 1231 8th St. E., Saskatoon, S7H 0S5, would be appreciated. In living memory of Alex, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

NELLIE KNAPPER

NELLIE KNAPPER passed away peacefully on August 7, 2007. Nellie was the beloved wife of Tom for over 65 wonderful years. She was born in Redcar, Yorkshire, England and immigrated to Canada in her teens. She met and married Tom in 1942 and returned to England then returned to settle in Moose Jaw and raised their family. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Tom; children: Joyce St. Germain – Campbell River, BC, Brenda (Wayne) Zaharia – Surrey, BC, Linda Brentnell and Tom Knapper – Moose Jaw. Family was very important to Nellie and was well loved by her ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the health care providers at Regina General Hospital, Moose Jaw Union Hospital, and the staff at Chateau St. Michael for their care and attention. A Celebration of Nellie’s Life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 11a.m. followed by the committal service at Rosedale Cemetery. Dave Moore will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the Alzheimer Association, #301– 2550 –12th Ave., Regina, SK., S4P 3X1 would be appreciated. In living memory of Nellie, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

EILEEN WEBB

Mrs. Eileen Webb of Eyebrow passed away in her home, Friday May 11th, 2007 at the age of 81. Eileen was born in Mawer, Sask., the youngest of 8 children. After high school Eileen worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Moose Jaw. She married Ray Webb in 1945 and her life was complete on May 17th, 1950 with the arrival of their son Dwight. Eileen was a devoted mother and will be forever missed. She will be remembered for her long-time service to the Eyebrow Post Office. Eileen loved to sing, dance and act. She spent her days in her garden and riding her bike. She was an enthusiastic sports fan. Always dressed to the nines, Eileen loved to make an impression. Her hero was Terry Fox and she looked forward to Eyebrow's yearly Cancer fundraiser. Eileen's passion was community service. She spent countless hours volunteering for the Wellness clinic and the Central Butte Hospital Association and many more. Predeceased by husband Ray, parents Anne and Al Quigley, sisters Grace, Nina, Elsie and brothers Don and Jim. Eileen is survived by son Dwight (Ruby), sister Ruth and brother Frank; granddaughters Chelsa (Scott) and Julie (Ryan); great-grandsons Lynden, Preston and Parker; sister-in-law Myrtle; and brother-in-law Russ. A Celebration of Eileen’s life will be held at the Eyebrow Community Hall on Friday May 18, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Dr. Donald Laing will officiate. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing memorials to the Terry Fox Foundation, #210 - 1102 8th Ave., Regina, S4R 1C9, would be appreciated. In living memory of Eileen, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JAMES ANDREWS
1933 - 2004

DOUGLAS JAMES NORRIS “JIMMY” ANDREWS passed away suddenly at home in Calgary Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the age of 71 years. He is survived by his children: Danny (Michele), Michele (Paul) Vianello, Tim, Jodi (Richard) Wong, and David (Karla); grandchildren: Jack Wong and Jill Andrews. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Carol Andrews, sister, Jeannette Sitter and brother, Dennis (Annabelle). Jimmy was born in Ettington, SK and grew up in Moose Jaw, SK. He moved to Calgary, then Chilliwack, BC and recently back to Calgary. A Graveside Service will be held at the Rosedale Cemetery on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to assemble at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. to join the procession to the cemetery. In living memory of Jimmy, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

EILEEN M. CARRICK

EILEEN MAY CARRICK passed away peacefully on June 19, 2006. She was born December 1, 1917 at Goodwater, Saskatchewan, south of Weyburn. Following teachers training, Eileen taught at several locations in Southern Saskatchewan. She married Hector Carrick July 2, 1948 and the couple lived on the farm until moving to Eyebrow in 1977. She spent her time enjoying the company of her family and friends, and was especially delighted with her grandchildren. She always looked forward to their visits “to grandma’s home”. Predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Dalgleish, her husband, Hector Carrick in 1987, son, Delbert Hector; her two brothers: Laurie and Lloyd and three sisters: Elva, Mary and Myra, Eileen is survived by her sons: Raymond (Janice) – Eyebrow and their children: Matthew and Jennifer – Regina, son, Terry and his children: Sheena, Chelsea and Sean of Liberty; two sisters-in-law: Dora Walker - Surrey, B.C., and Vera (Earl) Smith – Eyebrow, and one brother-in-law, George Robertson - Goodwater, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at the Eyebrow Community Hall on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Dwayne Tanner will officiate. Interment will follow in the Family Plot, Eyebrow Cemetery. Memorials for the Alzheimer Association, #301–2550 – 12th Ave, Regina, S4P 3X1 would be appreciated. In living memory of Eileen, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
