WALTER BROADIS

Walter Thomas Broadis, passed away June 17, 2003 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Walter was born June 27, 1920 in Woodrow, Sask. He served in the Armed Forces during the Second World War from 1942 until 1945. Upon his return he farmed until moving to Moose Jaw in 1947, working for Robin Hood Mills before commencing employment with CP Rail where he worked until his retirement in 1981. Walter loved gardening and going for coffee and suppers. Predeceased by his father, William in 1972; mother, Bertha in 1967; and brother, Alvin in 1979. Walter is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine; and their children: Kenneth (Mildred); Richard (Brenda); Sharon (Alan) Zimmerman – all of Regina; Keith of Moose Jaw; sister, Margaret Cassidy of Marysville, Washington; brother, Howard (Dorothy) of Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Andrea Broadis, Dionne Broadis, Justin and Chelsea Zimmerman; and two great-grandchildren all of Regina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday, June 23, 2003 at 10:00 am . Jim Atcheson and Lloyd Kneesch will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Roscoe Steele. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery . Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford Street East, Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1, would be appreciated. In living memory of Walter, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

LAWRENCE STEWART

Lawrence Byran Stewart, passed away at Extendicare on September 23, 2007. Lawrence was born at Chamberlain on October 21, 1925 and moved with his parents to the Findlater district in 1931. He farmed for 30 years in the Sunset district, then moved into Findlater before later moving to Moose Jaw. Lawrence was a 62 year member of the Legion, and a 32 year member of the Elks Lodge #7. He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Eva, brother Jack, and sisters Mary Gladys and Isabelle Ackerman. He is survived by his brother Norm (Gladys), sister Jessie (Ivan) Hove, brother-in-law Ralph Ackerman; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday September 27, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will take place at the Findlater Cemetery. Memorials to the Findlater Cemetery Fund, c/o Box 20, Findlater, S0G 1P0, or to Extendicare Family Support Group, 1151 Coteau St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 5G5, would be appreciated. In living memory of Lawrence, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JIM POOLE

JAMES ALFRED POOLE passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2005. Born June 22, 1923, Jim was predeceased by his parents and two sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna; sons: Aaron (Janay), John (Armella) and Jim (Lynne); stepsons: Darryl (Lori) Beaton and Mark (Delee) Beaton; nine grandchildren, sister-in-law, Wendy (Dee) McLaren and a brother-in-law, Ron (Liz) Thompson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Jim served as a pilot in World War II, later serving two years on the Winnipeg Police Force, then with Imperial Oil in Edmonton until retiring after 25 years. After retirement, Jim enjoyed camping, gardening, and woodworking. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Memorialization will follow in the Rosedale Cemetery Outdoor Columbarium. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory by made to the Canadian Lung Association, 1231 8th St. E., Saskatoon, Sask., S7H 0S5. In living memory of Jim, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JACOLINE DYCK

It is with great sadness that the family of Jacoline Dyck announce her peaceful passing on Monday July 19, 2004. Jacoline was born March 12, 1941 in Moose Jaw and grew up in the Blue Hill District. She met Roy in 1969 and they were married in 1972. Jacoline is predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Mary Leugner. She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her husband of 32 years, Roy; daughters: Tanja (Lonnie) – Vancouver, Adrienne (Mark) – Calgary; son, Lamont (Katherine) – Kindersley; daughters, Toby and Sandra - both of Moose Jaw; grandsons, Chandler and Sam; special granddaughter, Enya; and nine sisters. Evening Prayers Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw on Friday July 23, 2004 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at the Church on Saturday July 24 at 10:00 am with Rosary at 9:30 am. Father Gerry Bauche will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61 B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Jacoline, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

JAMES HAMILL

Mr. James (Jim) Nicholas Hamill passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2003. Jim was born in the Moose Jaw district on July 29, 1914. He farmed in the Mayberry district all his life. Jim is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Irene and son, Jamie. He is survived by daughters: Carol (Grant) Kaiser – Vernon, B.C.; Penny Wallace – Moose Jaw; Jill (Andrew) Smith – Lethbridge, AB; and son, Tim (Bernadette) Hamill – Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Melissa Wallace, Tamara Wallace (John Taylor), Rhonda (Paul) Vike, Drew Kaiser, Dan Kaiser, Christine (Fabian) Smith, Jeremy Smith, Desirae Smith-Hamill, Derek (Alissa) Schroeder, Angela Schroeder, Joel Ward, and Jason Ward; great-grandchildren: Kylan Vike, Elijah Vike, Dayn Taylor, Aiden Taylor, Kaytlin Schroeder, and Dylan Schroeder; sisters: Anna Smith, and Evelyn Barber; sisters-in-law, Wilda Dart and Elaine Kieper; brother-in-law, Don Walz; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 1:00 pm. Pastors Paul and Rhonda Vike will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army, 175 First Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0Y9, would be appreciated. In living memory of Jim, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

GORD KRAMSKI

Gordon George Kramski – On Wednesday December 1, 2004 our beloved husband, dad, and grandan peacefully passed away after a short illness, with his family by his side at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Gord was born in Chaplin, SK September 12, 1926. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Julia Kramski, brother Wilmer and sister Edith Urton. Gord is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beryl; daughters, Diane – Moose Jaw, and Brenda Sue (Rickey) Lloyd – Selkirk, MB, and his beloved grandsons, Conor and Ian; sister-in-law, Evelyn Heal; special niece Nola (Don) Engle and their family Kathy and Karen; also the late Fred Heal family: Christie, Patrick, Sherry, and their mother, Anne and families; brother-in-law, John Urton and two nephews, David and Tom Urton and their families. Dad served his country in 1943 when he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy, following his discharge Dad returned to the CPR where he worked for 43 years, retiring in 1985 as an engineer. He was a competitive curler in his younger years, and an avid golfer who enjoyed many happy hours with his golfing buddies at the Hillcrest Golf Course, and in Weslaco, Texas where he and Beryl wintered for 16 years. Dad had a quick wit, always ready with a pun.
At Gord’s request there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. The family requests no flowers or donations, but would like you to give anyone you know a hug. In living memory of Gord, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

MIKE PALUCK

MICHAEL PALUCK of Moose Jaw, born in Pelly, Saskatchewan October 1922, passed away February 15, 2005 with family by his side. While serving with the R.C.A.F. he met Anne in 1944 and the couple were married the next year. He farmed a few years in the Pelly area before taking employment with the CN Railway. This brought on many moves with his family until settling in Moose Jaw in 1961 where he had since resided. Mike was an avid gardener, bird watcher and fisherman. He lived for hockey, becoming an active proud member of the Warrior Booster Club. Predeceased by his daughter, Connie (1945–1955), his parents, John and Polly Paluck, step-father, Dmytro Soltys, sister, Elsie Lasko and brothers-in-law: Harry Lasko and Norman Schow. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Anne of 60 years; his children: Donna (Herb) Harrison of Regina, Pat (Bruce) McCulloch of Moose Jaw, Brenda (Kirb) Pickford of Chilliwack, B.C., Randy (Patty) Paluck of Saskatoon, Marilyn Paterson (Steven Chan) of Moose Jaw; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also leaves to celebrated his life, sister, Jennie Schow; brothers: Tony (Jean), and John (Vi) and step-brother, Walter (Pat) Soltys as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. Linda Owens will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted at the Chapel by members of the Moose Jaw Branch #59. Interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In living memory of Michael, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Donations in memory of Mike may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
