THELMA MURIEL BOOK of Elbow passed away Sunday, October 24, 2004 . Born March 30, 1916 at Elbow, Saskatchewan, Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Anna Ganes, her husband, Lawrence Book, son, Jerry Book, sister, Nikki (Art) Book; two brothers: Orville (Gert) and Curly (Eileen) Ganes; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty & Fred Fiske, brother-in-law, Norm Book, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George & Margaret Book. Thelma is survived by her son, Larry Book of Saskatoon, her daughter, Cheryl Book of Elbow, brother, Walter (Joyce) Ganes, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don & Lorraine Book, sister-in-law, Mable Book as well as nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Elbow United Church on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Gregory Grace will officiate. Memorials for the Central Butte Regency Hospital, Box 40, Central Butte, S0H 0T0 or to the Alzheimer Association, #301-2550-12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1 would be appreciated. MURRAY YOUNGMAN
Murray Youngman, passed away in the Regina Pasqua Hospital, on January 18, 2004 at the age of 77 years. Murray is survived by four brothers, three sisters, one uncle and numerous nieces and nephews. Murray was born and raised in Saskatchewan and after completing high school in Moose Jaw, received electronics training in Toronto. Murray worked at geophysical surveying in northern Canada and the southern United States. He also worked in Turkey and North Africa for five years. After returning to Canada, Murray worked and lived in Ottawa and Calgary for three years before joining his brother at farming in the Secretan area for the past 20 years. Murray was a quiet, reserved person who enjoyed the outdoors and peacefulness of country living. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 10:30 am. Father Alex Osei will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E2, would be appreciated. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to all the doctors and nursing staff for the compassionate care provided to Murray while at the Pasqua Hospital. ELSIE CAVAN
ELSIE MAUD CAVAN, late of Moose Jaw passed away December 20, 2006 at the age of 82 years young. She was predeceased by her parents, Maud and David Cavan; and two brothers: Jim and Thomas Orval. Elsie is survived by her brother, Selby (Eileen) and sister-in-law, Bernice, her best friend, Phyllis Clemens, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 1:30 in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. Visitation for family and friends Thursday evening 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. EMMA OLSON
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emma on Thursday, October 4th, 2007 at the age of 88 years. Emma was born on January 11th, 1919, at Central Butte, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, her parents, Frank and Paulina Wilm, sisters Ella and Tina Wilm, Marie Fleming and brother Fred Wilm. She is survived by her brother Walter (Joan), her sister Martha Wood, her daughter Carol Dennison (Robert), son Blaine (Joyce), daughter Marily Snell (John), daughter Faye Olson (Clarissa Wallace), grandsons Graham Snell (Jodi), Jason Snell, granddaughters Kristy Snell (Etienne), Jennifer Snell and Lauren and Kirsten Olson; great-grandchildren, Blake, Jaden, Eva, Morgan, Joshua and Adele; and numerous nieces and nephews. Emma taught in numerous country schools as well as in the Moose Jaw Public School System until her retirement in 1983. She was a dedicated teacher and cared greatly for every student she taught. Her kindness and thoughtfulness made her the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We wish to thank the staff at Ina Grafton Gage Home and Extendicare for the sensitive and exceptional care she received during her residency at both institutions. Funeral Services will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St. W., on Tuesday October 9th, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. MARY "SYBIL" COLLINS
MARY “SYBIL” COLLINS, longtime resident of Moose Jaw passed away August 27, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Born July 11, 1913 near Chamberlain, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband, Doug (Dudley), four brothers and three sisters. Sybil was a teacher and met her husband while teaching in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. She was very artistic and fond of handiwork and oil painting. Her works of art are much appreciated. Sybil cherished her family and friends, and loved many gatherings over the years. Sybil is survived by her children: Joan (Gary) Bauer, their daughter Laura Leah (Jeff) English and their son, Ethan – Calgary; Ron (Bernice) Collins, their children: Kimberly (Jason Meyers) – Williams Lake and Kevin (Alissa Derdahl) – Saskatoon; Allan (Leslie) Collins – Red Deer and their children: Jo-Ann (Chad) Francis – Williams Lake and Mark – Red Deer, one sister, Verna (Charlie) Stewart; three sisters-in-law: Mabel Norman, Margaret Norman, Loretta Norman. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church Chapel, 60 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Dr. Donald Laing will officiate. Cheryl Ruth Meadows of Sylvan Lake, AB passed away peacefully on February 12, 2005 at the age of 59 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her husband Ken of 38 years; sons, Mark (Katherine) of Red Deer, Kelley (Sandy) of Red Deer, and daughter Kerrie (Danny) of Delburne; brother Brent (Marilyn) Davey of Moose Jaw, SK; five grandchildren Jeff, Morgan, Kelli, Amanda and Jaden. The entire family would very much like to thank all the family and friends that came to visit Cheryl in her time of illness. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Red Deer Hospital's Palliative Care Ward. A Celebration of Cheryl's life will be held at W. J. SHIRLEY CASTLE FIESEL (Nee: Wright)
Shirley passed away peacefully Thursday May 24, 2007 at the age of 83, with loving family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence in 1987. Shirley is survived by her loving daughters, Betty (Bill) Grose, and Pat (Mike) Jang; grandson David, and granddaughter Danielle; brothers, Tom (Sharon), and Ken (Gloria); sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Wright and Hilda Weddige; numerous nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. Shirley was born and raised in Moose Jaw. She and Lawrence raised their family in the Blue Hill district, later moving to Briercrest. Shirley spent the past 4 years at the Mulberry in Moose Jaw where she lead a very busy, active, and happy life. The family would like to thank the Doctors and nursing staff of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital for their wonderful care and support. A Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday May 28, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Marilyn Keerak and Glenys Grosenick will officiate.
