Vera Victoria May Dunlop, aged 89 years, of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2003, with her family by her side. Vera was born in Moose Jaw on May 24, 1914 . She worked at Swift Meats and as a clerk at Eaton’s for many years. Vera enjoyed gardening and flowers, and loved to sew, but her passion was her baking. Not only family and friends sampled her baking; she took many ice-cream pails full to her doctor, dentist, car mechanic, etc. Vera was also very involved at St. George’s Anglican Church where she volunteered many hours. She had a great sense of humour and always had a joke to share. Vera moved into Pioneers Lodge in February 2000 where she kept active in the many programs there. Vera is predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Annie Archer; husband, Charlie; sisters, Lillian and Eileen; brother, Harry; son, Bryan and grandson, Mark. She is survived by her sisters: Ruby – Surrey, BC; Ivy – Victoria, BC; Elsie – Moose Jaw; and brother, Roy – Regina Beach; grandchildren: Brenda, Wanda and Heather and numerous great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn a special niece Jill (Lance and family), along with many other nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 965 Montgomery Street, on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pioneers Lodge Recreation Dept. 1000 Albert ST. Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Vera, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Allen E. Tressel of Moose Jaw, passed away after a short illness on July 24, 2005 at the age of 78 years. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Dorothy in 1993 and three brothers. Allen is survived by his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. In keeping with Allen’s request, there will be a Private Graveside Service at Rosedale Cemetery. MR. ALEX PASUTA of Moose Jaw, passed away October 29, 2003 at the age of 89 years. Alex is predeceased by his parents, Alex and Annie Pasuta; brother, Steve; and sisters, Kay and Mary. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anne; daughter, Edith of Regina; sister, Anne – Winnipeg; brothers, John – Winnipeg; Mike (Stella) – Campbellville, ON; Nick – Toronto; Jim – Port Moody, BC; as well as many nieces and nephews. At the family’s request, a private service will be held at a later date. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1, would be appreciated. BOB FRITZLER
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of BOB FRITZLER. Bob passed away peacefully at home Monday, February 10th, 2003 with his wife, Rosalee and daughters, Amy and Alissa by his side. He was born in Moose Jaw May 7th, 1950 and remained here until his passing. Bob worked with his father, Albert for seven years painting and decorating until he chose a career as a firefighter, and served the city for twenty-two years. Bob had a great zest for life and had many great friends in the Fire Department, Police and Ambulance Services with whom he shared many great times and lots of laughs. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rosalee, daughters, Amy (Bob) Craig and Alissa Fritzler, his faithful pets, Butchie and Dan; his parents, Albert and Hazel Fritzler; sisters: Joanne (Gary) Finch, Donalda (Harvey) Biden, brother, Tim (Marlene) Fritzler, father and mother-in-law, Glen and Fran Rieder; brothers-in-law: Rodney (June) Rieder and Richard (Kathy) Rieder, special friends: George Paterson, Earl (Cherry) Harding, Penni Applin and special caregivers, Dorothy, Julie and Dr. Mark Brown. IRENE SMITH
MRS. IRENE SMITH (nee Archer) of Moose Jaw, passed away Monday, February 23, 2004 . Born in Shawbury, England May 1, 1929, Irene was raised in Ettington, Saskatchewan where she received her education. She attended Peacock High School in Moose Jaw and worked for Prairie Vegetable Oils and Traders Finance as a Stenographer. Irene married Ray Smith in 1952. Predeceased by her parents, Tom and Annie Archer; three brothers: Wilfred, Leslie and Ken and three sisters: Gladys Mackin, Dee Dickson and Mary Wilson. Irene is survived by her husband, Ray, son, Lorne (Louise), daughter, Barb (Randy) Roman; grandchildren: Pam (Jeff) O’Keefe, Amber Roman (Mike Costley), Lisa (Bart) Hazell and Jason Smith (Deniel Erskine), great-grandchildren: Ethan Smith and Madison O’Keefe, sister-in-law, Fran Archer, brother-in-law, Les Wilson, as well as many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Della Ferguson will officiate. HOWARD DUNCAN
Howard William Duncan of Hearne, Sask. passed away March 20, 2003 at the age of 65 years. Howard was employed for many years at the Claybank Brick Plant and later operated C&D Welding. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Laura Duncan and an infant daughter, Grace. He is survived by his wife, Heather; children: David (Carol), Diane (Steve), Jim (Gail), Scott (Sherry), and Laura (Jerod); brother, Les (Velda); sister, Audrey; fourteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. MARGARET GLEDHILL
Margaret Gledhill, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 30, 2005 at the age of 82 years. She was born on December 6, 1922 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. Margaret moved to Moose Jaw in November of 2001 to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She was a devoted gardener. Margaret loved being surrounded by nature, enjoying walks in the Wakamow Valley and seeing the ever-changing prairie skies. Since moving to Moose Jaw, she was active in the Moose Jaw Art Guild, and loved to spend time at the Public Library and Art Museum. Margaret was a passionate and seasoned traveller, always enjoying new experiences and meeting people. She loved tatting, and was an excellent seamstress and knitter. Predeceased by her parents, and her loving husband, Harry, she will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Mario Deshaies of Moose Jaw; brother, Roy Smith of Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins in England. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday February 2, 2005 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Cremation will follow. Visitation Tuesday evening 7 – 9 pm at the Funeral Home. DORA ROTAR (nee: Filip) of Moose Jaw, formerly of Kayville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2003. Born February 12, 1913, Dora was predeceased by her parents, John and Eudochia Filip, husband, Pete Rotar, son, Jack Rotar, great-grandson, Landen Kulcsar and sister, Anna and her husband, Alex Ivanoff as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Irene (Allan) Ursu; grandchildren: Janice (Joey) Kulcsar, Alana (Jason) Lang, Reena (J) Sotropa, Jarrod Ursu and fiancé, Julie Gehl; two great-grandsons: Cory Kulcsar and Colton Kulcsar; her brother, George (Margaret) Filip; brothers-in-law: Colin Rotar, Mike Podgarenko and sister-in-law, Erna Rotar as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Prayer Service will be held Sunday, February 2, 2003 at 7:30 pm in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2003 at 10:00 am in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Father Stacey Richter will officiate. Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Church Cemetery in Kayville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Kayville.
