JOSEF KARNER tragically passed away on July 4, 2005. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Josef leaves to mourn three children: Marie (Joseph), Joseph (Joan) and Susan; three grandchildren: Alexandra and Simone, and Brittany, his siblings in Europe: Maria, Berta, Erna and sister-in-law, Traude. He also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews, as well as his pet dog “Mitzi” who will also miss him. Dad was born in Mariasdorf, Austria on July 1, 1933, and he immigrated to Canada in 1954. During his working years he was a miner, construction worker, working for the CP Railway, painted many houses in Moose Jaw, and was also involved in rebuilding St. Andrew’s United Church following the destruction from fire. He had worked many trades…too numerous to mention. Dad had a kind heart and was always giving to anyone who needed help. He loved to build structures in the yard which were admired by many tourists. Josef loved gardening…it brought him peace and joy. He also loved classical music. Now, the Canadian flag at the house is being flown at half-mast in honour of our father. Mom passed away in 2003 and Dad was broken-hearted…but now they are together again. A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, July 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the W. J.
