At Thamesview Lodge, Chatham, on Monday, May 19, 2003. KEN WHITING, 79 years, formerly of Petrolia. Beloved husband of Willa (nee McIntyre). Cherished father of Cheryl and Earl Northcott of Chatham, Richard Whiting of Saudi Arabia and Stacey Martin and Bruce Dilling of Sarnia. Special grandpa to Stephanie, Shawna, Jenifer, Derrick, Justin, Collin, Christopher, Corey and Samantha. Loving great grandpa of Jai-Lynn, Alexander and Andrew. Dear brother of Betty Dupuis of Sarnia, Leona and Lloyd Frayne of Petrolia, Muriel Frayne of Sarnia, Don and Mary Whiting of Petrolia, Stan and Thelma Whiting of Petrolia and the late Ross Whiting (1980). Ken operated a farm agency for Petro-Canada in Petrolia for many years. Ken served his country overseas for four years during World War 2. Visitors will be received on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Terry Burns of New Life Assembly officiating. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery. The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #216, will hold a memorial service on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Gladys Rose

Gladys Rose (nee Barnes), 88 years, of Petrolia, died at the Lambton Hospitals Group – Mitton St. Site, on Monday, May 19, 2003. Born in Wallaceburg, Mrs. Rose was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Florence Barnes (nee Lim) and her husband, Wilson “Nan” Rose (1998). Mrs. Rose is survived by her children, Sid Rose and Doris and Albert Chubaty all of Petrolia, her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Roy, Nicole, Aaron and Nadine, her great grandchildren, Sydnie, Keely, Wilson, Jordan, Leah, Melissa, Michelle, Darrell, Jamie, Ethan, Rodney and Breanna, her great great grandson, Alexander and her neices and nephew, Jennifer and LeRoy Weed of Petrolia, Karen Thorpe of Toronto and P.F. Clement of Petrolia and numerous other nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and her cremated remains will be interred in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia. Funeral arrangements are by the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the C.E.E. Hospital Foundation.

Lauretta Berberick

At Lambton Hospitals Group – Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Site, Petrolia, on Sunday, May 25, 2003. Lauretta Berberick (nee Hahn), 93 years, of Hanover. Loving wife of the late Clarence (1963). Dear mother to Ruth Mary and the late Jim Banks (2002), Julieanne and Jay Bamforth of Aurora, and the late Dr. David Berberick (1989) and Mary of Walkerton. Beloved grandmother to nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Dear sister to Florence Berberich and Stella Cassel both of Cambridge, Mayme Howlette of Elmira, Jean McDonald of Amberly Beach, Rita Berberich of Toronto, Lorne Hahn of Wallenstein, and the late Ed, Bert, Bill, and Bud Hahn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Berberick was a member of Holy Family Church C.W.L., the Hanover Horticultural Society, the Hanover Senior Citizens Friendship Club, and the Hanover Shuffle Board Club. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Hanover, on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Dave Cote as celebrant. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. to the mass time. Sister-in-law to Marilyn Scharf of Orange, California and the late Marjorie Ogilvie. Dear brother of Bob and Renie Hyatt, Elwood Hyatt, Bernice Spearman and Marion Routley all of Sarnia, Lois and Roger Kettle of Chatham, Tom Hyatt of Petrolia and the late Keith and John Hyatt. Alf was a member and elder of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, a World War II naval veteran, and an Imperial Oil annuitant. Doug Currah

The Star that shines the brightest is now ours. That’s our husband, our dad, our papa. Surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the farm he closed his eyes for a peaceful sleep. He now joins his dad Bill (1982), mother Margaret (2003), and gets to meet his Sister Donna (1938). Born February 13th, 1939, Doug Currah of R.R.#3 Oil Springs, attended Ridgetown Agricultural College and farmed his whole life and built numerous pole barns and houses all over Lambton County. Loving him forever and always are his wife of 37 years, Mary Jane (nee McNnight), his son Darryl and fiancee Kim of Sarnia and his daughter and “Darling” Leigh-Anne and her husband and one of Doug’s best buddies and on call partner John Siebert of Kingsville. Cherished Papa to Brittany, Daniele, Julie, Mark Douglas, Chelsea, and Rachel. His brother Don Currah and his wife Carol and their children of Courtright, his sister Mary Margaret Langis of Sarnia, as well as his mother-in-law Simone McKnight of Wallaceburg will all have fond memories of Doug and all the fun they’ve had together. Visitors will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia where the a funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. At Lambton Hospitals Group – Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Site, on Thursday, June 12, 2003. Glenn Tims, 82 years, of Sarnia and formerly of Petrolia. Beloved husband of Cynthia (nee Collins). Cherished father of Cheryll and Sheldon Frank and Sylvia and Baron Blais all of Sarnia. Devoted grandfather to Marc, Ryan, and Noelle Frank and Sean and Jason Blais and great grandfather to Crystal, Olivia, Patrick, and Cole. Dear brother of Helen Burke of Petrolia, Jean Little of Sarnia and the late Doris (1983), Sterling (1988), Karl (1997), and Keith (1998) Tims. Predeceased by his parents Herb and Blanche Tims. Will be missed by sister-in-law Mary Tims. Mr. Tims served his country in World War II with the Perth Regiment. A private funeral service will be held. With interment at Wyoming Cemetery. At Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia on Saturday, June 14, 2003. Gladys Kells (nee McEachern), 95 years, of Petrolia. Loving wife of the late James Kells (1972). Beloved mother of Ron and Noreen Kells of Brigden, Bill and Gloria Kells of Petrolia, and the late June Jackson (1997) and her husband Ralph Jackson of Wyoming. Cherished grandmother to Dianne Jackson of Edmonton, Michael and Pam Jackson of Petrolia, Lesley and Jeff Belanger of Brampton, Jay Kells and his fiancee Mary Jane Kingsley of Petrolia, Julie Kells of Brantford, and Marcia and Bryan Campbell of Newmarket and great grandmother to six great grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Euphemia Kells, Helen McRae, D.N McEachern, and Donald McEachern. Mrs. Kells was teacher in Lambton County for over 25 years. Visitors will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia where the funeral serive will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dear mother of Mary and D. Allan Campbell of Petrolia, Don and Inez Pecena of Alvinston and Lydia and Robert VanEvery of Flint, Michigan. Dear sister of Ann and Don Campbell of Toronto, John and Betty Gaborko of Wyoming, Paul and Emily Gaborko of Petrolia, Virginia Hodgson of Brampton and the late Stefan Gaborko (twin) (1990) and Katarina Hriadel (2002). Also survived by a sister-in-law, Katarina Gaborko of Petrolia, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. BEBINGH - Went to be with his Lord, on Friday, October 3, 2003, at the Lambton Hospitals Group – C.E.E. Site, Petrolia. Derek Jans Bebingh, of Wyoming, in his 84th year. Born in Assen, the Netherlands he was the son of the late Egbert and Berendina Bebingh. Beloved husband of Elsien (Huijes) and the late Jantje (nee Krale)(1986). Predeceased by a daughter Diane Van Barneveld(2000). Dear father of John and Sientje Bebingh of Watford, Alta and Henry Van Vliet of Kingsville, Egbert and Jackie Bebingh of Forest, Rick and Alice Bebingh of Stratford and father-in-law of Henry and Mary Van Barneveld of Zurich. Survived by thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and step children Harm Huisjes of Lethbridge, Alberta, Minnie and Bert Kaldeway of Orono, Harry Huisjes of Stratford, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Also survived by three sisters and two brother all of the Netherlands and was also predeceased by a brother and sister. Visitors were received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wyoming Chapel, Broadway St., Wyoming. The funeral service will held Monday, October 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Peter Moelker officiating. Interment in Beechwood Cemetery, Forest.
