Margaret Elizabeth Hermon (nee Patton) - 12/04/2002

Peacefully in Ottawa, Tuesday, December 3, 2002, with her family by her side. Beloved wife of John Stuart Hermon. Daughter of the late Charles O. Patton and Lila B. Patton. Dear sister of the late Dr. J.O. Patton. Will be sadly missed by her son Richard Hermon(Susan Sweeney), her daughter Janet Tipper Kreil (Peter Kreil) and grandchildren James Tipper, Sara Kreil, Julia, Brian and Katie Hermon. Special thanks to Rose McAulay, as well as the second floor staff of Laurier Manor. A family service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the Montreal General Women's Auxiliary.


Rae Francis Hill - 12/05/2002

Following a courageous battle with cancer Rae Hill, in his 59th year, died peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Beloved husband of Dorothy (Gibson). Loving and extremely proud Dad of Tina (and Bruce) Hamilton. Son of the late Rhea (Moreau) and William G. Hill. Brother of Evelyn (and George) Westwood of Kingston, June Hill of Ottawa and Frank (and Sandra) Hamilton of Kamloops, B.C. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Rae was predeceased by two brothers Bernard and Stewart and a sister Irene. Rae had served with the PPCLI 2nd Battalion, with Canada Post and 33 years with OC Transpo. As Rae wished there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 400 St. Laurent Blvd. on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 1pm followed by a reception at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway. No flowers please. In memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, the VON or the Elisabeth Bruyere Centre.

In hospital on Thursday, December 5, 2002 Charles Julien in his 79th year. Beloved husband of the late Lucille Bertrand. Father of Marc, Michel and the late Richard. Dear brother of Paul, Annette and Theresa. Predeceased by brother Noel and sister Lucille. Memorial Service will be held at Notre Dame des Lourdes, Vanier, 435 Montreal Road, on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Doug (Moris Douglas) Lahaise - 12/09/2002

Peacefully at the Ottawa General following a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at the age of 48. Beloved husband of Danielle and father of Matthew and Randy of Richmond, Ontario. Cherished son of Grace LaHaise (the late Moris LaHaise). Brother of Debbie (Ken), Rick, Geoff(Sharon) and Donna. Son-in-law of Daniel G. Robertson (the late Myrtle Robertson) of Hull, Quebec. Friends and family may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, December 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, December 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. I lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be truly appreciated. Many thanks to all the staff of the ORCC and the OGH.

Lois “Edna” Lethbridge (nee Mockett) - 12/08/2002

Longtime employee of CBC Peacefully in her sleep at the Ottawa General Hospital on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at the age of 82. Predeceased by her sisters Bessie Damm and Hazel Scharf. Beloved mother of Rodney (Nadine), Donald (Bev) and Robert (Sharron). Loving grandmother of Tom Roy (Amy), Leah Gillis (Mike), Jim Lethbridge (Leah), Kelly Bennett (Justin), Natascha Lethbridge (Ben)and Anthony Williams. Great-grandmother of April, Sarah, Travis, Tara, Kurtis, Suzi, Joshua and Kayla. Edna will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Tuesday, December 10th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 11th from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Drive on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Thanks to the many doctors, nurses and staff at the Ottawa Hospital for their care and kindness. IN memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully in hospital on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at the age of 90. Cherished husband of Dorothy (nee Brovender). Dearly loved brother of Abraham (the late Sadie) Lieff, Bessie (the late Milton Narod), Joseph (Evelyn) Lieff and brother-in-law of Shirley (Almer Barron) and Jean Lieff. Predeceased by his brothers, Louis, Hyman (the late Pearl) and Morris (the late Pearl) Lieff. Loving uncle of Elissa (David), Norman (Francie), Susan (Joel), Alan (Ann), Josh (Tammy) and their children and fondly remembered by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Community Cemetery, Bank Street, Ottawa. Shiva to be observed at 2027-200 Clearview Avenue. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry.

On Thursday, December 5, 2002, Audrey Locke (nee Scott), beloved wife of the late Dr. Clair J. Locke. Dear sister of Jean Mount of Montreal, the late Melvin Scott and the late Olga Smith. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, on Saturday, December 7th from 11 a.m. until service time in the Chapel at 12 noon. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.

On Saturday, November 30, 2002 at age 91, surrounded by her children, Claire ApSimon, Eric, Denise and Sylvia (Dr. Holger Baumgartner) who arrived from Austria just in time to spend the last hour with her mother. Loving wife of the late Walter John Manning, P.Eng. Grandmother to Joanne (Bob Megens), Paul (Dina Vitale) and Michele ApSimon (Don King), to Erin, Yves and Pascale Manning, to Toki David, Bisi Susanna (Jason Cooke), Toyin Rachel (Fred Grannum) and Seun Patrick Ogunnaike and to Peter-Patrick and Suzi Baumgartner. Very proud great-grandmother to Matisse, Maya and Bianca ApSimon Megens, to Justin and Nicholas ApSimon King, to Juwon Ogunnaike and Jada Grannum and to Ryker and Mika Ogunnaike Cooke. Sister of Paul Montreuil, Quebec. Predeceased by sisters Marcelle Cartier Cerny, Yvette Denis and brother Dr. Fernand Montreuil. A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Congregation, 30 Cleary Avenue, on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 p.m. The family thanks Dr. Graham and all the staff at the Villa Marguerite for their compassionate care of our mother. Virginia Francis McDonald - 12/11/2002

Passed away peacefully at The Glebe Centre in Ottawa on December 7, 2002 at the age of 93 years. Virginia is survived by her children David McDonald of Ottawa and Mary (Jeffrey) Chandor of Oldwick, New Jersey, as well as her grandchildren Heather Jean Chandor and Jeffrey McDonald Chandor. She was also the beloved aunt of Joanne Pelletier-Mattingly of London, Ontario. Virginia is also survived by her brother Donald H. Pelletier of Toronto and her very special friend Gail Pickwick of Ottawa. She is predeceaced by her husband David S.D. McDonald. Virginia was a graduate of the Toronto General School of Nursing, Class of 1931. A Memorial Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, December 12th at 10 o'clock a.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Glebe Centre Building Fund.

Muriel (nee Shouldice) McNally - 11/30/2002

On Saturday, November 30, 2002 at age 81. Loving wife of Nelson. Beloved mother of Brenda (Terry McLaughlin) and Faye (Chris McDermott). Loving grandmother of Paul and Valerie (Bobby Wiggins); great-grandmother of Harley Wiggins. Sister of Gladys Catto, Lorne (Shirley), Ron (Elaine) and the late Elmer.
