ANTAYA:

At St. Andrew's Residence in Chatham on Friday, March 28, 2003, Mary Antaya, age 97, wife of the late Herbert Antaya (1960). Born in London, Ont. in 1905, daughter of the late Theresa (Whalen) and Charles Walter, she taught at both the public and separate school systems for over 40 years. For her work training student teachers from London Teacher's College, she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth Coronation Medal from Buckingham Palace. Past Regent of the IODE, Major George Smith Chapter, she was also past president and founder of the Kent Chapter of the Ontario Association of Superannuated Women's Teachers, and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Missions Society. Mary was also an active member of The Pines Alumnae and first president of the PTA there, as well as being a member of the Chatham Cultural Centre. She will be sadly missed by a daughter, Mary Jean (Bonner) Willett of Chatham; by three grandchildren, Wayne Bonner of Chatham, Kathy Jamrozinsky and her husband Rick of Charing Cross, and Cindy and her husband Bill Carnie of Chatham; by 11 great-grandchildren; and by 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by two brothers, Charles and John Walter; and by two sisters, Ethel Hazelton and Mildred McHardy. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Parish prayers were said at 3 p.m. on Monday. Cremation followed and the ashes will be buried in St. Anthony's cemetery at a later date. Donations to Blessed Sacrament Memorial Fund or St. Andrew's Residence would be appreciated.

DREW:

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (PGH) on Monday, April 21, 2003, Marguerite Drew, age 91 of Chatham-Kent, beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Drew (1980). Born in Chatham in 1911, daughter of the late Cora (Meloche) and Hammond Myers. Marguerite was a member of the Catholic Women's League (city) and was a charter member of St. Joseph's Hospital Guild. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Reginald Myers. Friends and relatives may call at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S., Chatham, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2003 only. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in Old St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to St. Joseph's Church Restoration Fund would be appreciated.

FISHER:

Herbert Pearson. Herb's family, with deepest sorrow, announces that on Thursday, April 17, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chatham, Herb's valiant struggle with cancer ended. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie. Dear, dear father of Kathleen (Dresser), Anne, Gregory, and Mark, whose beloved wife Anne passed away on March 8. She set a shining example of courage for Herb, and she has gone ahead to smooth his path. Herbert served with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War, and after the war with the Royal Corps of Signals (Militia). He was a charter president and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 609, Bramlea. He was a Bell Canada Pioneer. Herb loved life and every moment it gave him. His joy was his family, his grandchildren, Derek, Sharon, Addison, Garrett, Gregory and Evan; and his great-grandchildren, Jessica and Robert. He shared their lives and loved them deeply. Following Herb's wishes, there was no service and cremation followed. For his love of defenceless animals, his family asks that remembrances in his name be made by cheque to the Ontario Humane Society. Your family prays that it will be forever spring for you, dear one. MARTIN:

And Jesus said, "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am you may be also." (John 14:3) Now in the loving arms of Jesus, Diane Martin, beloved wife of 40 years to Lionel Martin, entered the Kingdom of God, surrounded by her family at her home in Pain Court, on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at age 59. Born in Dover Township on Feb. 19, 1944, daughter of the late Lillian (Tremblay) and Victor Lozon, she was a loving wife, dedicated daughter and devoted mother and grandmother. Diane was a member of the Light of Christ prayer group and The Ladies of Ste Anne. Her love and passion for family life will be carried on by daughters Pam and her husband Roland Griffore of Dover, Shelley and her husband Dave Schyvenaars of London and Lisa and her husband Gabe Tetrault of Pain Court; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Carley, Connor and Caleb, and Levi, Noah, Sara and Anna. She was a sister and a blessing to Madeleine and Tony Callens of Chatham, Betty and Mike Davis of Windsor and Marie and Dennis Griffore, Roger and Pam Lozon, and Bob Lozon, all of Wallaceburg. She will also be fondly remembered by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by a grandson, John Matthew Tetrault. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Pain Court. The Ladies of Ste Anne prayers were said Tuesday at 3 p.m. and parish prayers were said at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Church cemetery , Pain Court. Donations to the London Regional Cancer Centre, the VON or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. "When I come to the end of the Road, and the Son has set me free... Remember the love we shared; miss me but let me go."

VISSER:

Suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, on Monday, April 14, 2003, Martin Visser, age 66 of Chatham-Kent, former husband of Betty Visser of Chatham. Born in Friesland, Holland in 1937, son of the late Folkert and Jeltje (VanderVeen) Visser. Dear brother of Pat VanSligtenhorst and her husband Bart of Tara, Ont., Shirley Visser of Edmonton, and Sylvia Christensen and her husband Wayne of Edmonton, Dick Visser of Kitchener, and George Visser and his wife Carol, also of Kitchener. Predeceased by a brother, Klaas (1990) and an infant sister (1948). At Martin's request there was no funeral home visitation or service. Cremation with burial of ashes at a later date in Duxbury cemetery , Meaford, Ont. Donations to Park Street United Church and the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
