Gattozzi, Giovanni 1930-2009

It is with great sadness the family of John Gattozzi announce his passing at the Henderson Hospital on Wednesday May 27, 2009. Loving husband of Assunta (nee De Santis) for 52 years. Beloved father of Connie, Joe (Michelle), Ross (Wendy). Nonno will be missed by his pride and joy, his grandchildren Marie (Peter), Russell, Tonya, Alexandra, Nicole, Johnathan and Tyler and by great grandchildren Kaylie, Andrew and Katarina. Will be sadly missed by brother Saverio (Carmella) of Italy and sister Adela DelFine (Martino). Predeceased by sister Rosa Paventi (Biase). He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. John was the proud owner of the Cavalier Hairstyling for over 45 years. Special thanks to ward 3F Henderson, Dr. G. Fraser, Dr. B. Alton, the Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging Teams at St. Josephs Hospital for their compassion and care. John will be remembered for his sense of humour, outgoing personality and love of his family. The family will receive friends at the BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Road East, on Friday May 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil prayers will be held on Friday at 2pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs’ Church, (corner of Emerson Street and Main Street West) on Saturday May 30 at 9:30 am. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre cemetery to follow. Memorial donations made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Geres, Edward Georg 1928-2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ed at the Henderson General Hospital, Hamilton on Friday November 28, 2008 in his 81st year. Beloved husband and partner of Heather (nee Banks) Geres. Devoted father of the late Susan, Gregory and Cindy and her fiancé John. Loved grandfather of Shawn (Melodie) and Sheena. Dear brother of Irene and her husband Tony. Will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ed was former owner of Ed Geres Sales, partner of Finlay Foods and Finlay – Greenwood and consultant for Gordon Food Services, Canada. He was a long time member of the Glendale Golf & Country Club, Rotary, Greyhound Lovers of Hamilton Wentworth and the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program and partner of Spruce Lane Stable Inc. He will be sadly missed by family and friends both two and four legged. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME , 947 Rymal Road East (between Upper Gage and Upper Ottawa) HAMILTON (905-574-0405) on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. A Service in Memory of Ed’s Life will be held in the Chapel on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 1 p.m. In memory of Ed donations to GLOHW or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

It is with deep sadness that Anna Giammanco’s family announce her passing at Idlewyld Manor on Tuesday January 20, 2009. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Cesare Giammanco. Loving mother of Pina and Pasquale Lucido and of the late Giovanni Giammanco. Much loved Nonna of Anna Lisa Cesare, Maria and her husband Claude. Great Grandmother of Alicia, Jacqueline and Julian.Dear sister of Rosina Noto, Rosalia Aluia, Pierina Belleci and the late Mercuro, Angelina and Graziella. She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Road East ( between Upper Gage and Upper Ottawa), Hamilton (905-574-0405) on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Annunciation Of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church on Saturday , January 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre cemetery , Burlington. The family would like to thank Ida for her years of friendship and support. Gillott, Jean 1931-2010

Peacefully, on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at St. Peters Hospital, Hamilton, in her 79th year. Adored wife of Raymond for 58 years. Loving mother of Paul (Lynne), Steven (Jaye), John (Karen) and Martyn . Devoted grandmother and great-grandmother of 14 beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cherished daughter of the late Florence and George Hanson. Beloved sister to Rita (Brian) and John (Norma) of England. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

At Jean’s request, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON, (905.574.0405).

A heartfelt thank you to many friends at the Mormon Church of Utah and Idaho State. Special thanks to Dr. Bertothy of the Juravinski Cancer Centre for her help and compassion, and a special thank you to Dr. Hattersley and the nurses of St. Peters Healthcare for their compassionate care.

Unexpectedly at the Hamilton General Hospital, Janet passed away April 22nd, 2009. She will be very sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband Bill.
Janet was a loving daughter herself to the late Isabella Warburton. Deeply missed by daughter Karen (Julien) and son Kenneth (Heather). Also missed by her brother Clem (Shirley) of Livingston, Scotland. Grandmother to Graham, his mother Rose, and Emily, and her mother Lynn. Step Grandmother to Zachary and Alexander. She will also be missed by brother-in-law Eric (Bev), and her niece Heather and nephew Brian.
Janet lived a full, wonderful life with many who loved her! As her time drew to an end she fought with all she had as she did in the past few years. Janet was truly one of a kind, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends for years to come!
Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens), BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Saturday from 6-9pm. The “brightest light” in our family no longer shines. Two days before her 83rd birthday on August 3, 2009, Miriam decided it was time to say good-bye to her family and join her predeceased parents Enrico and Cesira Palmese (nee Bobbi) in heaven. During her four year long battle with colon cancer, Miriam demonstrated great courage and resolve. Although she endured numerous surgeries and countless chemo rounds, her humour and wit remained intact. An inspiration to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Loving and devoted wife of 54 years to Mario. Beloved mother to Maria Pia Luzi (Mary) and husband John, and Laura Vivian Johnstone and husband Steven. Cherished Nonna of Andria Marie Luzi and husband Justin Finch. Treasured sister of Vivian Wagner and husband Eddie of Maryland, USA, Giuseppe (Joe) Palmese and wife Concetta (Tina) of Hamilton, Enzo Palmese and wife Maria (pre-deceased) of Naples, Italy, Arnaldo Palmese and wife Bonaria of Sardinia, Italy, Maria Corbo and husband Pierino of Formia, Italy, and Robert Palmese and wife Marina of Hamilton. Much loved sister-in-law of Concetta Guidubaldi and husband Nicola (pre-deceased) and Fausto Giombetti and wife Anita (pre-deceased). Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews in Hamilton, Maryland, USA, and various cities in Italy. Miriam’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Oncology medical team at St Joseph’s Hospital and The Juravinski Cancer in Hamilton as well as the Roswell Cancer Centre in Buffalo. A huge “thank you” goes out to the entire Palliative Care Team at the Dr Bob Kemp Hospice for their unfailing kindness and compassionate care shown to Mom during her three weeks of residing at Dr Bob’s House. A very special thank you to Dr Pierre Major at the Juravinski Centre, Mom’s family physician Dr. Neimanis, and Ellie Slye at the Dr Bob Kemp Hospice. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Rd E, (between Upper Gage and Upper Ottawa), HAMILTON (905-574-0405), on Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. passed away peacefully onboard his beloved boat, Charisma, on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Donald Norman Girt in his 74th year.

Dear husband of Margaret. Proud father of Robert (Susan), Paul (Liana), Nancy Leach (Mike) and Eric (Tracy). Loving Grandfather of James, Shannon, Adam, Andrea and Ben. Also survived by his sister Grace Wagner, and sister in law Helen Girt and brother in law Leo Tovenati. Predeceased by his brother Neil and his brother in law Albert Wagner.

Don was a retired Captain of the Hamilton Fire Department and a life member of the Macassa Bay Yacht Club.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON, 905.574.0405, on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service in the Bay Gardens Chapel on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 1pm. Cremation has taken place. Pastor George Horton officiating.

Peacefully, at the St Joseph’s Villa on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the age of 96.

Loving wife of Elo K. Glinfort for 30 years.

Devoted mother to Brian Forsyth, who passed away in 1990, and mother in law to Selena Dack-Forsyth.

Survived by her beloved stepdaughters, Joan Fairley and Sandra Thornton.

Arrangements are entrusted to BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405). As per Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Those wishing to express condolences are welcome to make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Dorothy’s honour.

Suddenly at home on Monday, February 22, 2010 at the age of 53 years. Always loved and forever remembered by her son Jason and grandson Corey. Beloved daughter of Robert and Margret Glover. Will be sadly missed by her sisters Debbie Male (Brad) and Peggy Messier (Barry) and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her granddaughter Elaine. Kim was a hardworking 30 year employee of Camco Inc.

Golding, Jane Findlay 1944-2010

Golding, Jane Findlay (nee McDowall) Nov 26, 1944 – Oct 17, 2010. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jane in her 66th year, after a long and difficult but courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by Eric her husband of 45 years, daughters Jennifer (Larry) and Joanne (Sean), grandchildren Rebekah, Charles, Rose, Shalom, Aiden and Riley. Also survived by her brother Stewart (Jane) and will be sadly missed by her extended family and her many special friends Jane was born in Hamilton, Scotland and was predeceased by her parents John and Jean and her brother Charles. Jane spent her life helping others. She was very involved with The Girl Guides of Canada for over 30 years, and had worked as both an RNA and an Educational Assistant for special needs children. Jane also spent many years volunteering for the Cancer Society. Happily, Jane was able to fulfill a long held dream of travelling to Alaska with Eric this past summer. Although Jane faced many difficulties during her illness, she maintained her smile and wonderful sense of humour until the end. At Jane’s request there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of Jane’s life will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment of her cremated remains will take place at a later date at Bayview cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905) 527-0405.
