Siuzdak, Frank
1922 - 2009
The journey has ended peacefully for Frank on September 21, 2009 at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Mathilda for 58 years. Predeceased by his parents Valentine and Veronica of Poland. Lovingly remembered by daughters Gisele MacDonald (Harry Emery), (the late Michel Cousineau and the late Murray MacDonald), Linda Siuzdak, and son Joseph Mueller (Feli) of Germany. Predeceased by daughter Monica Van Dusen and son Kenneth. Will be sorely missed by grandchildren Natalie MacDonald (late Wayne), Aimee Prince (Dave Empey), George (Bolorma) and Michael (Anna) Mueller. Always proud of his six great-grandchildren Clayton, Chelsea, Molly, and Malcolm MacDonald as well as Samantha and Kyle Prince. Frank started a new life in Canada in 1951 and worked very hard to raise his family. He was a longtime employee of the Ottawa Carleton School Board where he retired. Frank had many passions such as fishing, hunting, gardening and above all his favourite hobby was being a member of the Centennial Racing Pigeon Club. Frank may you soar high above us in the skies. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road), Nepean on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. followed by private cremation.

Arnott, Edwin Charles “Ted”
Peacefully at the Rosamond Wing, Almonte General Hospital on Sunday September 20, 2009, in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late V. M Inez Doucett. Loving father Martha Duncan (Rick). Cherished Poppa of Patrick and Elizabeth. Dear brother of Jack (Shirley). Friends may call at the Carleton Place Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 61 Lake Ave. W., Carleton Place on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment United Cemeteries. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Almonte General Hospital/Rosamund Wing or University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

McDevitt, Francis (Frank)
Of Ottawa, formerly of Montreal and Belfast, Northern Ireland, passed away in the early morning on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the age of 84 after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 61 years, Rosetta (Etta Flannigan) and his devoted children, Michael (KC) and Norman (Linda). Grandpa will be deeply missed by his four grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Oliver and Kaitlyn. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Agnes McDevitt and his brothers, Robert (Bobby), Henry (Harry), William (Billy), David (Davey). Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Northern Ireland and the United States. Frank was a member of the Merchant Marine in Ireland and worked as an engineer at Harland Wolfe. He and Etta moved to Montreal in 1954 where Frank worked for Dominion Engineering, SNC and Atomic Energy of Canada. Since 1962, Frank enjoyed the sunsets during his summers spent in North Hero, Vermont. A private family gathering will be held in Ottawa. There will be no visitation. His friends will be invited to celebrations of Frank’s life next year at his two favourite places; his beloved Northern Ireland and North Hero, Vermont. Special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital emergency Unit and the 6th Floor NW Unit of the Ottawa General Hospital who showed such kindness to Frank during his brief stay there. For those wishing, memorial donations to Carefor Ottawa (www.carefor.ca) 760 Belfast Road, Ottawa, ON K1G 6M8 would be appreciated by the family.

Hubbard, Loretta Rachel “Rea”
Peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on September 20, 2009 in her 91st year. Dear sister of Fred (the late Dorothy) of Halifax NS, the late Walter (Marie) of Truro, NS, the late Roy (Nellie) of Saint John, NB, Everett (Bertha) of Saint John, NB, George (Carolyn) of Saint John, NB, Bernie (the late Lillian) of Edmonton, AB, Phillip (Joanne) Allen of California, the late Dorothy (the late Frank) Woodworth of Berwick NS, and Charlotte (Jack) Clarke of Nepean, ON. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd. ) on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 12:30 p.m. until service time in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. At the Osgoode Care Centre on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, aged 85 years. Keith was the only son of the late J. Ernest and Jennie Moodie. Loved husband of Freda McRostie. Father of Susan Brown (George) and Eric Moodie (Kelly). Grandfather of Alexander and Jennifer Brown and Popie of Kendra and Cameron Moodie. Also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Helen and Cecil Moore. Peacefully in the arms of her children on Thursday, September 24th, 2009 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late William Douglas Racey. Dear mother of Marsha Doran (Kerry), Stephen (Vicki), and Hugh (Ardith). Loving grandmother of Kane (Lori), Tyler (Angus), Peter, Patrick (Jessica), Morgan (Mike), Cooper (Jacquie), Jason (Kim), Matt (Norma), Chris (Melanie), Chase, Allister and great grandmother of Damon, Acelyn, Linsey, Mira and Ava. Dear sister of Sheila (John) Beaton. Predeceased by her loving daughter Micki Watkins (survived by Paul), brother Joseph Marshall and daughter-in-law Linda Racey. Retired Principal - Lady Evelyn P.S.
Peacefully, on Thursday, September 24, 2009. Florence’s life was lived as an ongoing ministry devoted to the care and nurture of those around her. In the fields of Christian education and in public school education she enabled children and adults to discover the depths of their potential and encouraged them to fulfill their possibilities in life. Florence served as a Christian educator in several churches in California and British Columbia, and then as librarian, teacher and elementary principal within the Ontario public school system in Oakville, Toronto and Ottawa. Florence was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. George W. Strong; loving and loved mother of Susan (Peter MacLaren), Karen (Bill Robbins), Marylynn, and Whitman (Christine Gross); and grandmother to Logan, Matthew, and Johanna and Catie. Dear sister of, her twin brother, the late Ralph Jr. (Eva Barron) and Barbara (the late Shap Drisko). Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Wednesday, October 21, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Gallinger, Mabel Catherine (nee Young)
May 30, 1928 - September 26, 2009
Mabel passed away peacefully with her dearly loved daughter Kimberley, her precious grandchildren Chelsea and Kyle, and her sister Betty at her side. Mabel lived her life with dignity; with boundless and endless love for her family. Her values and virtues were never compromised. Her joy in life was helping her family to grow. Mabel’s selflessness and generous spirit will be an everlasting memory for us all. Mabel will be dearly missed by her loving daughter Kimberley (Chuck Murphy), grandchildren Kyle and Chelsea Murphy, her sisters Betty and Joan(Charles Ross), her brothers Bev (Marilyn) and Royden (Margie). Predeceased by siblings Thelma, Claude, Sybil, Jimmy, Walter and Eric. Also left to mourn are many and close to her heart, nieces, nephews, and their families. Donations may be made in Mabel’s memory to Extendicare Starwood Activities Department, 114 Starwood Road, Nepean, ON, K2G 3N5. “If you have the choice to sit it out or dance… I hope you dance.”

Juby, Jack Fredrick
Peacefully at Mapleview Lodge, Athens, ON, on Friday September 25, 2009 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Vivian Ardith Shea. Loving father of Ardith and Stuart Juby both of Merrickville, and Glenn (Kathleen) of Arden, ON. Dear grandfather of Benjamin Juby of Ottawa. He is survived by his brother Harry (Olive) Juby of Kingston, and several nieces and nephews. Suddenly at home on September 25, 2009, we lost our sweet David. Gentle and loving, always thinking and doing for others, he will be missed and loved forever and ever by his family and friends. Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Suzanne Taller (Gavel). Son of the late Pearl and Jack Taller. Proud grandmother of Tim, Rick, and Christine, and her four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Cyrus and Ethel Nelson, her sisters Margaret and Dorothy and brothers Harold and Larry. Peacefully, at St. Patrick’s Home on September 28, 2009 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Bill Keay. Loving mother of David (Constance Hudak), Robert (Brenda), Janet Keay Gilchrist (Tony), Marilyn Pleckaitis (Arunas) and Bruce (Karen). Much loved grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Jane will be missed by her many relatives and friends in Western Canada and Ottawa. Peacefully, on September 25th, 2009 at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre in his 94th year, after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his wife Camille (2007). He is survived by his daughters Gail Dingle of Calgary and Joan (Ed Malone) of Oakville, and by his grandson Sean Malone of Toronto. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre for their care and support.
