Veteran WWII, Capt. Ottawa Fire Department (Retired with 35 years of service) in his 84th year on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Fred Saylor beloved husband of 59 years of Gladys MacCabe. Loving father of Glynis Saylor-Stokes (Scott) and Richard (Michele). Dearly beloved Grandpa and Papa of Sharon, Ashley and Samantha: Special Grandfather to Robin, Crystal and Charlie. Survived by his sister-in-law Vivian Saylor and her daughter Wanda Tippet (Chris). Beloved son of the late George and Gertrude Saylor. Predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.), Nepean on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m. Internment Capital Memorial Gardens. Beck, Harry Romeyn
Commander RCN Ret’d., WW II Veteran
On Sunday, May 13, 2007 in his 90th year. Harry Romeyn Beck beloved husband of the late Katharine (nee Swan). Dear father of Penny Remmer (Bill) of Calgary, Rosemary Beck (Gord McCoy) of Kanata, Jill Stokes (Bill) of Moffat, Nicholas (Brigita) of Kanata and James of Salt Spring Island. Loving grandfather of Will (Amy), Jon, Katharine and Elizabeth Remmer; Rory and Ben McCoy; Katie, Pat and Mike Stokes. Dear brother of Mary Allen and Arthur Beck. Predeceased by a brother George Beck and by sisters Louise Beck and Susie Schaus. A career naval officer, WW II Veteran, Harry’s first command was H.M.C.S. Drumheller and his last H.M.C.S. Haida. Following his retirement from the Navy, he served in Marine Pilotage with the Department of Transport. Harry was a long time member of the Britannia Yacht Club and the Naval Officers’ Association of Canada. He enjoyed playing bridge and curling. The family wish to thank the staff at the Empress Kanata and Rideau 2 South at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre for their care and support. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) Nepean, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Richard’s Anglican Church, 8 Withrow Avenue at Merivale Road, Nepean on Thursday, May 17. at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in St. John the Divine Anglican cemetery , Merivale Road. A caring, courageous and inspiring woman, who lived her short life beautifully, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007. Chair of Par Tee Fore A Cure and teacher at North Gower Co-operative Nursery School, Kathy was an outstanding member of the community, nurturing and teaching little people and big people alike. Adored by husband Barry; children Blake and Ali; parents Joan and Charlie; siblings Janet (Steve), Pat (Bob) and Jim (Brigitte); in-laws Joyce, Nycole, Kim, Lynn, the Francois and Cadet families; nieces and nephews Michelle, Andrew, Cameron, Brendan, Julie and Kristine and countless friends. The family is especially grateful to Drs Bence-Bruckler and Anstee and nurse Linda Hamelin. Dear sister of Kitty (Charles) Thibert, Marion (Paul) McGahey, Shirley Anne MacPherson and Johanna Harrington. Predeceased by brothers Gerald Meehan and Donnie Cochrane and by a sister Stella Ristow. Stickley, Kiyoko (nee Matsubara)
passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 15th, 2007, in her 74th year. Beloved wife of Joseph. Loving mother of Raymond (Brenda), Carl, Charles (Debora), and Paul (Leigh). preceded in death by her daughter Eilene. Grandmother of Christopher, Michael (Michelle), Derek (Brianne), Laurie (Matthew), Nicole, Jesse, Virginia, Cheryl, Michelle, Jeremy, James, Angela, Lloyd, Victoria, Daniel, and Kathyann. Great Grandmother to Cadence, Hallie, Destiny, Justin, Jenna, Jason, Eli, and Amilya. She will be dearly missed and will remain forever in our hearts. The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Stoneridge Manor for their attentive loving care during her last few weeks. Bless you all. Dear sister to Don, Ena, Vernon, Helen, Lois, Robert and the late Gwen, Doug, Edward, Ernest and Rosco. Adored grandmother of Corrine, Lorraine, Paul, Catherine, Diane, Stephen, Doreen, Jennifer, Melissa, Philip, Andrew, Jonathan and Matthew; great-grandmother of James, Jessica, Sarah, Benjamin, Kristan, Eric, Jane, Jacob, Clara, Woodrow, Jeffrey, Edward, Hannah, Charlotte, Mackenzie and Bennett. Sister of Calvin, Doris and the late Clarence. Unexpectedly, but peacefully, at Saint Vincent Hospital, Ottawa on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the age of 51 years. Beloved daughter of the late Melville Wells McEwen. Survived by her loving mother Rena Belle (née Moors) McEwen, many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. At Dawnellen’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Fraser, Elgin-Alexander Kirk
Elgin passed away peacefully and comfortably at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the tender age of 3 years with his parents and sister by his side. Elgin’s extended family and closest friends were privileged to share their fondest memories with Elgin before he passed away. Beloved and cherished son of Hamish and Victoria and incredible big brother to Alysston. Loving grandson of Jim and Jean Fraser, Kirk and Catheren Fachnie and great-grandson of Jim and Claire McNeill, Pete Fachnie (Callista Clement) and the late Kathleen Fachnie. Loving nephew of Jessica (Richard Miller) Fraser, Elizabeth Fraser, Julia (Trevor) O’Grady. Dear cousin of Justin Fraser-Miller, Mekayla and Alyssa-Dawn O’Grady. In three short years, Elgin touched the hearts of more people than one could ever imagine and for that his family is forever blessed and he will be greatly missed. Peacefully, Friday May 18, 2007, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Ann Adele Falkner (nee Miner). Devoted father of Julia, Pamela and Peter (Louise Blais). Cherished grand-father of Simon, Pearson, Oliver and Maxime. Dear brother of the late Ailsie (John Davidson). He will be fondly remembered by his niece Kit Davidson and nephew Jeff Davidson of Vancouver, as well as by his cousins in the United States, Julia Falkner-Tompkins and Philippa Schwendimann. An avid sailer, tennis player and curler, he will be deeply missed by his many teammates and friends, in particular, at the Britannia Yacht Club. The Family wishes to thank the medical staff at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for their heroic commitment and compassionate care. On Thursday May 24th there will be visitation from 2pm to 4pm, followed immediately by a funeral service. Visitation and service will be held at the Westboro Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with his ongoing support of numerous charities, donations can be made in his memory to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Tuesday May 22, 2007 in her 85th. year. Pre-deceased by her loving husband Bruce MacFarlane.
