KOWALEVSKY, WALTER
1940 – 2006
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Walter Kowalevsky on April 14, 2006, at the age of 65 years. Walter will live forever in the hearts and minds of Rose Lynn, his wife of 44 years, and their two sons, Kris and his wife Margie of High River, and Brian and his wife Laurie of Indianapolis. Time spent with Grandpa will be lovingly remembered and missed by grandchildren Michelle, Kayle, Grace and Gus. Walter is also survived by seven brothers and sisters and their families; Lena, Ruby and Leonard of Swan River, MB; Edward and Lorraine of Edmonton; Peter and Nick of Calgary. Walter was well known and highly regarded by his colleagues in the construction industry in and around Calgary. Whether it be Palliser Square in the heart of downtown, the main grandstand at Stampede Park, or other projects too many to mention, Walter left a permanent impression on the landscape of Calgary. When not at work, Walter’s free time was consumed by his love of harness racing. As an owner, a breeder, and a fan, he was respected and admired by the many friends he made in over 20 years of involvement in the racing community. Walter was passionate about his family, the outdoors, and hockey, particularly the Flames. In recent years, he enjoyed building a weekend retreat at Tie Lake where he loved to explore the mountains with Lynn on their ATV’s, fish, relax, and share stories around the fire with friends. Truly larger than life, he will be missed by all those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation (#200, 119 - 14 St. NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6).
