SIM - William "Bill" Cyrill Sim passed away peacefully at the Extendicare Scottish, on Saturday, June 28, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Bill is survived by two sisters, Janet McColeman and Isabell Needham both of Princeton, B.C.; nieces, Heather McColeman of London, England, Betty (Scotty) Thomson of Merrit, B.C. and Lynore (Jackie) Krenn of Princeton, B.C. and numerous other nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a special friend Arbie Fisher and her children Randy Fisher, Jaylene (Charles) Methot and Gaylene Fisher and partner Michael Playfair. Bill will also be sadly missed by Joshua and Amanda who knew him as Grandpa Bill. Bill is predeceased by his parents, James and Isabella Sim. During the Second World War, Bill served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and up until his passing, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 1 Branch. Bill was also a friend of Bill W. and long term member of the Garnet Block. Bill had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs of which he had many throughout his life. A special thanks to the Nursing staff and Doctors of the Rockyview Hospital and Extendicare Scottish. Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 1, 1997 at Pierson's Funeral Home, 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E., Calgary, From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Pierson's Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Lewry officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in Queen's Park Cemetery. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Sunrise Residence, 922 - 21 Avenue S.E. Calgary, T2G 1N1. Arrangements in care of PIERSON'S FUNERAL SERVICE. (7/1/1997).

SIMMONDS - Alec Duncan Simmonds, passed away suddenly at Clearwater, B.C. on Friday, October 3, 1997 at the age of 27 years. Alec will be joyously remembered by his wife Jennifer; his parents, Roy and Marilyn; his brother Neil; his sister Vanessa; and grandmother Ivy Pike; as well as many other family members and friends; and we cannot forget "Cujo". Alec lived life to the fullest and accepted and enjoyed each new challenge. He anticipated with excitement the role of parenthood, especially with the arrival of his first child expected on his birthday, January 11. Funeral Services will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 - 16 Avenue N.W. (across from North Hill Shopping Centre), on Thursday, October 9, 1997 at1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Rohrick of the Rockyview Alliance Church officiating. Cremation to follow. In keeping with his love for soccer, in lieu of flowers, Alec would have liked donations to be made to the I.E.S.C. (International Eastside Soccer Club), P.O. Box 20033, R.P.O. SINCLAIR - Mrs. Nora (nee Rea) Sinclair of Calgary, formerly of Vancouver, died on Friday, July 11, 1997 in her 82nd year. Nora was born in Stavely, Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin, her parents, James and Selina Rea, her brothers, William, Alfred and Franklin, and her sister Mabel. Nora is survived by her sister Edna Schrag (nee Rea); her step-children, Ted, Andrew and Margaret; her nephews, James and Neville and her nieces, Ardeth and Sheila. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Stavely, Alberta. The family would like to thank the nurses of Unit 47 of the Rockyview General Hospital for their understanding, kindness and loving care of our dear Nora. In living memory of Nora Sinclair, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., Calgary. (7/13/1997).

SINGH - Vevekanand "Vevek" Singh, 36 years of age, passed away on September 6, 1997. He was the son of Mr. Surajballi Singh and the late Mrs. Saraswatie Singh; the loving brother of Lakhram, Abhimanyu, Karan, Savitri, Sushella, Subhadra, Mandevi and the late Rajkumarie. Vevek will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, who were all dear to him. He will also be missed by his many special friends, close relatives and members of the Guyanese community. On Friday, September 12, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. the Service will take place in the Chapel of Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations to Vevek's favourite charity, The Lupus Society, would be appreciated. Arrangements in care of HERITAGE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICES. (9/11/1997).

SIRIANNI - Mr. Domenico Sirianni, beloved husband of Mrs. Elisebetta Sirianni of Calgary, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Foothills Hospital on December 20, 1997, at the age of 89 years. He was born in Sambiase-Lameziaterme, Catazaro, Italy on July 12, 1908. Domenico was loved and admired by all those who knew him, and he was truly a gentleman who worked very hard at keeping his family together. When his family was together, Domenico was at his happiest, his eyes shining like stars. The memories he has left behind will be treasured always and he will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Domenico was the hero and beloved father of five children, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rosa Sirianni, Felicia and Salvatore Raso, and Giuseppina and Enrico Elia; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruno and Francesca Sirianni, and Salvatore and Dora Sirianni; twelve grandchildren, Peter, Rosa and Mike, Antonia and Carmine, Tina and Vince, Rino, Daniela, Lisa, Rosa, Franco, Felicia, Domenico, and Diana; and two great-grandchildren, Silvio and Jessica; and numerous nieces and nephews in Calgary and Victoria, B.C. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS and HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells", (2720 Centre Street North), today, December 22, 1997 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 - 14 Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Valentino Alberton, C.S. Celebrant. Graveside Service to follow at St. Joseph's Section, Queen's Park Cemetery. SIROTA - Dorothy Sirota, beloved wife of Edward, of Montreal, Quebec, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on July 6, 1997, at the age of 81. Dorothy was the loving mother of Marcia of New York City, Perry and his wife Karen of Calgary, and Lorne of Winnipeg; and the grandmother of Rebecca, Joshua and Emily. She is survived by her sisters, Tauba Segall and Celia Atkins of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Pearl Miro of Montreal; and by her brother Moe of Montreal. Dorothy had a long career as a community social worker, and later as a professor of social work at McGill University in Montreal. She sat on numerous committees and served two terms as a school trustee. In recent years, she wrote a weekly news column on aging. She had numerous hobbies, including painting and needlepoint. She was a devoted friend to many. Dorothy had a gentle and generous soul and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 - 17 Avenue S.W.), today, July 9, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Jewish Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Calgary Jewish Academy. Arrangements in care of the CHEVRA KADISHA of Calgary, 1702 - 17 Avenue S.W. (7/9/1997).

SISLEY - Mrs. Mary Louise Sisley, beloved wife of Mr. Stanley Sisley of Airdrie, passed away at the Agape Manor, Calgary, on November 10, 1997, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 77 years. Mary was born in 1920 in Calgary and lived in Huxley, where she received most of her schooling. In 1937, she moved with her family to Calgary and later graduated from Crescent Heights High School. In 1941, she married Stanley and together, they operated North Balmoral Grocery until 1980, at which time they retired to Airdrie. Mary will be remembered for her devotion to her family and for her love of gardening, horses and nature. Besides her loving husband, Mary is also survived by her family, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol of Sicamous, B.C.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ellen and Mike of Airdrie, and Margaret of Edmonton; seven grandchildren, Kenn, Yvonne and her husband Chris, Steven, Christa and her fiance D.J., Jim and his wife Heather, Nadine, and Kevin. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Katelin, Kelland, Brooke, Jaimi and Tye. Funeral Services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church (130 Albert Street) today, November 13, 1997, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gene Packwood officiating. Graveside Service to follow at Airdrie Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Agape Manor Hospice, 1302- 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2N 1B8. WILLSON - Mr. Edward M. (Ed) Willson, beloved husband of Mrs. Marian Willson of Calgary, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 21, 1997 at the age of 85 years. Besides his loving wife Marian, Ed is survived by his children, Al and Rena Willson of Calgary, Shirley and Ralph Straffon of Cleveland, Ohio, and Maureen and Don Thompson of Calgary. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Rob, Mike, Stephanie, Jessica and Brittany, all of Calgary, Scott and Paige Gilmore of Toronto and Mike and Leslie McConnell of Vancouver; and two great-grandchildren, Nickolas and Mackenzie. Ed was predeceased by his sister Isobel Bennett. A private family Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Elboya Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), today, October 24, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Mutlow of Woodcliff United Church officiating. In living memory of Ed Willson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., CALGARY. (10/24/1997).
