CAMPBELL - Marise Audrey (nee Tempest), age 74 years, passed away in the presence of her family on November 16, 1997 at the Rockyview Hospital after a courageous struggle against her failing health. Marise will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda Graham (Stew Allsopp) and Jo-Anne Campbell (Kim Kinswater); her grandchildren, Kathy Gullison, Shane Graham, Vicki Graham and Erin Esligar; five great-grandchildren; her brother Murray (Elaine) Tempest; several nieces and nephews; as well as a large extended family together with many friends. Marise was predeceased by her husband Stewart, parents, Frank and Ruth Tempest, and her sister Jacque Thomas. Marise was born on March 3, 1923 in Calgary where she attended Central High School. She met her husband Stewart in Sylvan Lake in 1940, then married him in 1944. Marise and Stewart spent their entire forty-nine years together in Calgary where they raised their family, but some of their happiest times as a family were spent at their cottage at Sylvan Lake. Marise was an avid bowler, gardener and gin rummy player, but her passion was reading. She was a member of the Calgary Gyrette and Samaritan Clubs for many years and was a dedicated volunteer to such organizations as Meals on Wheels and the Calgary Cancer Clinic. Marise was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a popular person with all whom she met and was, and will always be, deeply loved by her family. "A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of Nature" (Ralph Waldo Emerson). The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Hantho and the entire staff of Unit 58 at the Rockyview Hospital. They treated Marise and her family with the utmost of care, kindness and compassion during her five months in the hospital. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1009 - 15 Avenue S.W. on Thursday, November 20, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Samuel J. Stewart and the Reverend Drew Burnand officiating. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society (Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1A2). CAMPOS - Fernando Edgar Campos of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on July 1, 1997 at the age of 44 years. Fernando is survived by his loving wife Linda Marie; his daughter Piper Valentina; and his son Joshua Tizoc; and father and mother-in-law, Vincent and Winnifred Roland, all of Calgary. A Funeral Service will be held at MEMORIES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 12705 Lake Fraser Drive S.E., on Monday, July 7, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta, T2G 1A2. CANFIELD - Mervin Austin Canfield, beloved husband and best friend of Marge Canfield, passed away at his ranch on Thursday, October 30, 1997. Mervin was born in Consort, AB and spent his boyhood in Veteran, AB before moving to Calgary which has been his home since 1949. He has been involved in various facets of the oil business all of his adult life. He first founded Treco Developments Ltd., and later with his partner, the late Don Scott, established Scotfield Oil & Gas Ltd., later known as Myrol Petroleum Ltd. Since then he has maintained interest in various oil and drilling companies. In 1992 he, with Marge, fulfilled his lifelong dream when they purchased a ranch which they named "Dusty Hill Ranch". Here they took pride in raising Black Angus cattle. Mervin will be sadly missed by his loving wife Marge; his daughter Cathy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Doug and Lynn Canfield, and Doran Canfield; and five grandchildren, who brought him so much joy, Courtney, Shelby, Rachel, Charlotte and Dylan, all of Calgary. Mervin is also survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Romey Farwell, Helen and Dave Keffer, all of Calgary, and Marlyne and Eddie Nelson of Okotoks, AB; his mother-in-law, Jean MacGregor of Calgary; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Mel Leinweber of Edmonton, and John and Jean MacGregor of Calgary; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Austin and Stella Canfield of Veteran, AB. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel", (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), today, November 4, 1997 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Riverview United Church (824 Imperial Way S.W.), on Wednesday, November 5, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Ms. Rita M. Cattell officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of the donor's choice. In living memory of Mervin Canfield, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., CALGARY. (11/4/1997).

CAPE - Winnifred Mary passed away at her residence on December 7, 1997 at the age of 86 years. Winnifred will be sadly missed by her brother John Andrew Cape; nephews, Gordon, Steve (Margaret), Russell (Jennie), and Dennis; as well as by numerous great-nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by Betty Anne Buchner. Winnifred was a native Calgarian and attended Hillhurst and Crescent Heights Schools. She had a lifelong love of sports and enjoyed watching all sports. Winnifred was an ardent golfer and over the years held memberships at Regal Golf Club, the Elks Golf Club, and Inglewood Golf Club. Travelling the world was another joy that Winnifred loved to experience. She was employed with A.G.T. for thirty-six years, and was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Calgary. Winnifred loved life and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 1407 - 7 Avenue N.W., on Friday, December 12, 1997 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend R.H.G. Rodgers officiating. Interment to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace. If desired, memorial tributes in Winnifred's name may be made to the organization of the donor's choice. CAPONIGRO - Nicola (Nick) Caponigro, beloved husband of Angela Caponigro of Calgary, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 18, 1997 at the age of 76 years. Nick was born May 29, 1921 in Lacedonia, Avellino, Italy. He immigrated to Canada on September 17, 1958 and resided in Calgary, where he worked as a carpenter. Nick and Angela were married on January 31, 1947. Besides his loving wife, Nick is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Pamela Caponigro of Calgary; and one daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Don Dary of Red Deer; as well as five grandchildren, Michael, Angela and Christina Caponigro, and Michael and Kimberly Dary. He is also survived by three brothers, Michael, Leonardo and Umberto; and one sister Pina Genteluomo. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Donato and Gaetanina Caponigro, one brother Gerry Caponigro and one sister Filomena Patalino. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), today, July 20, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace English and Italian Catholic Church (1714 - 14 Avenue N.E.), on Monday, July 21, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Carmelo Hernandez, C.S. Celebrant. Graveside Service to follow in St. Joseph Section, Queen's Park Cemetery. CARRUTHERS - Earl Laurier Carruthers, born April 30, 1918, passed away at Didsbury Municipal Hospital on Sunday, July 20, 1997 at the age of 79 years. He was predeceased by his wife Marion in January 1988. Earl is survived by three sons, Gene (Verlena) of Crossfield, Randy (Mary) of Chestermere, and Bruce (Dayle) of Calgary; and seven grandchildren, Jason, Tammy (Rob), Angela, Ryan, Melissa, Nathan and Adam. Earl was born on his parents' homestead west of Vulcan, and was an early pioneer in the Vulcan area. Earl farmed until the early 1950's and then started a trucking business which he ran until his retirement in 1983. He continued to reside in the area until his move to Crossfield in 1993. Earl was a lifetime member of the Vulcan Elks and a fifty-one year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Our thanks to the staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, Unit 23, Didsbury Municipal Hospital, and special thanks to the staff at Airdrie Bethany Care Centre for their care and understanding. Thank you to Dr. Collingridge. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Vulcan Legion Hall on Friday, July 25, 1997 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Earl's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. CAMERON - John Dickson Cameron passed away Thursday, December 18, 1997, at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived and missed by Elsie, his wife of forty-six years; children, John, James, Dickson, Janice and husband Peter; granddaughter Janay; sisters, Sara and husband Jim Cunningham, Barbara and husband John Wood; and brother Cam and wife Daphne Cameron. Born in East River St. Mary's, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late John MacKenzie and Martha (Dickson) Cameron. John furthered his education at the University of Saskatchewan, Mount Allison and attended Cornell University on a scholarship. The majority of his career was in the oil and gas industry with Dome Petroleum. During his thirty-seven years with Dome he worked on both domestic and international projects. Upon his retirement he worked as a consultant to the oil industry and took pleasure in being involved in the local film industry as an actor. He was always active in the community, he drove for the Cancer Society for five years and was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.), on Monday, December 22, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. J. Karl English officiating. Graveside Service to follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1A2. In living memory of John Cameron, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS and HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E., CALGARY. (12/21/1997).
