Nita was born in Lacombe on November 27, 1942. She was predeceased by her Dad Jerry Leach on December 22, 1971. Nita is survived by her Mom Kay Leach of Lacombe; her loving husband and best friend of thirty-five years, Harry; twin daughters, Lisa (Dave) of Cochrane; Lori (Rob) of Calgary; son Marty and his wife Sandra, their children, Mitchel (Mitch) and Jared (Bubba), her two precious grandsons whom she treasured. Nita is also by two brothers, Ron Leach (Donna) of Innisfail, Randy Leach, (Angie) of Fernie, along with numerous nieces and nephews. At Nita's request, a Private Family Service will be held at her home on Wednesday, December 3, 1997. WHEATCROFT - James Clifford (Red) Wheatcroft, beloved husband of Olive Wheatcroft of Calgary, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, September 11, 1997 at the age of 80 years. Cliff Wheatcroft, a self-made man with an inventive and entrepreneurial spirit, spent many years as a highly successful cattle broker. His business interests included J.C. Wheatcroft Co. Ltd., Midnapore Land and Cattle Co., Alberta Western Beef, T.W.K. Leasing Co. and Isabella Beef. He was greatly respected by colleagues, family, and friends for his integrity, tenacity and his generosity of spirit. Cliff was an adventurer who was the "captain of his ship and master of his fate". He created a wealth of rich memories including endless summers on the family houseboat, soaring adventures in his home-built airplane, and gentle days of sailing on his yacht in Mexico. His ready laugh, stimulating conversations, and supportive pride in the efforts and achievements of those around him will be greatly missed. He remains an inspiration to all who knew him. Besides his loving wife, Cliff is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, and three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Doug Heathfield of Toronto, ON, Judy and John Dudar of Halifax, NS, Jon Wheatcroft and Laura Evans of Ottawa, ON, Tim and Roberta Wheatcroft, and Mavis Wheatcroft and Patrick Plichon, all of Calgary; as well as fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Margaretta and Herbert Thorndyke of Mallorca, Spain; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cliff was predeceased by his first wife Isabel and his two sons, Kelly and Michael. WHEELER - John (Jack) Wheeler of Calgary (Claresholm), beloved husband of Sharon, passed away on December 15, 1997 with his family at his side. He is survived by his loving children, John, Debora, Sharyl; his son-in-law Chris; and his two wonderful grandchildren, Melissa and Tyler. John also leaves to mourn, three brothers and five sisters in Newfoundland; as well as his brother Hubert in Calgary to whom we would like to give special thanks. He also has left a whole world of family and friends behind. WHITE - Kenneth Murray (Ken) White, P.Eng., beloved husband of Karen White and father of Calvin and Paula, all of Calgary, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus on June 2, 1997 at the age of 51 years, after a short heroic battle with cancer. Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed. Born June 4, 1945 and raised in Red Deer, Ken attended the University of Alberta, graduating in the top five from Mechanical Engineering in 1968. Ken and Karen were married in Ponoka, AB on May 6, 1967 and then moved to Calgary in 1968 where Ken began working for Western Rock Bit (WRB) until 1993 when he left the company as their Vice President of Research and Development. During his twenty-five career with WRB, Ken patented many ideas used in the manufacturing of industrial products. In 1993 Ken started a company, Terra Tools Inc., and sold the manufacturing knowledge to Alberta Basic Industries. In 1995 he became the Acting General Manager of Terra Tools and Walker MacDonald Bits. Ken later became the Director of Operations for A.B.I.L. and Terra Tools, developing oilfield bits, mining bits and industrial products. He was also on the Board of Directors of A.B.I.L. Ken had many talents and interests including restoring a 1927 Chev and a 1929 Graham Paige. He built a post and beam timber cabin in British Columbia. Ken loved wood working, was an avid fisherman, motorcycle enthusiast, and a man with a great sense of humor. He made us laugh even when times were tough. Besides his loving wife and children, Ken is also survived by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. C.A. White of Red Deer, AB; his sister Lori White and Don MacDonald of Sylvan Lake, AB; his mother and father-in-law, George and Kathleen Calvert of Calgary; his sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Cleve Wright of Edmonton, AB; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by all of his grandparents, and Ron Strate, his close friend and cousin. WHITEFORD - Mr. James (Jim) G. Whiteford, CD., beloved husband of Mrs. Phyllis Whiteford of Calgary, passed away after a brief illness at the Foothills Hospital on December 16, 1997 at the age of 78. Jim was born in Dykehead, Lanarkshire, Scotland and immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1928. They settled in Olds, Alberta. Jim returned to Britain in 1939 with the Royal Canadian Engineers where he met his wife Phyllis. They were married in Braintree, Essex, on June 20, 1942. After the war they settled in Calgary and had a daughter Gail. Jim joined the Calgary Police Force where he attained the rank of inspector and retired in 1977. Jim was a founding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 264 as well as founding member and second president of the Calgary Winter Club. He was also a president of the International Police Association, Canadian Representative. Jim was instrumental in the formation of the Provost Corps of the Canadian Service Btn. Since his retirement Jim had been active with the Confederation Park Seniors Centre where he was past president of the Centre, and of the Travel Club, as well as a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge. Since Jim's retirement, he and Phyllis traveled extensively. In the past few years one of his greatest joys was his granddaughter Allison. Jim is survived by a daughter Gail Whiteford, a granddaughter Allison Blake and her father Jim Blake, all of Calgary. He is also survived by two sisters, Jenny and Mary; a brother David; niece Frances; nephews, Kevin and Bryon; and very special friend of the family, Shirley Elder. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Janet, and his brother Robert. WHITESIDE - Mr. Harvey William Whiteside, beloved husband and best friend of Linda, passed away peacefully at his residence in Chestermere Lake on November 14, 1997 at the age of 50 years. Harv was a longtime employee of the City of Calgary Waterworks working as Supervisor of Inspections at the time of his passing. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Megan and Myles. He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Don Lane, Ann and Jerry Johnston; five nephews; his Uncle Roy, and his Aunt Grace MacFadyen. He will also be remembered by his mother and father-in-law, Art and Venera Congdon. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Louise. WHITFORD - Raymond Clayton Whitford passed away at the Strathmore District Hospital on Sunday, November 30, 1997 at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Anna; four children, Cindy (Ken), Tim, Don (Lola) and Clayton; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Lisa, Caprice, Samantha, Amy, Melissa, Kayla and Amanda; as well as two sisters, Betty and Brenda; and one brother Bob. He was predeceased by one son Dennis in 1985. At Ray's request, noFuneral Service will be held. The family wish to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Strathmore District Hospital for their efforts in making Dad's final hours as peaceful as possible. CAMPBELL - Clark Earl George of Calgary, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, September 9, 1997 at the age of 61. "Sailor", as he was known to his friends and family, was born in Sudbury on September 20, 1935. Clark served in the Navy for five years and traveled the world; but he ended his travels in Wabamun, Alberta where he met the love of his life, Madeline. Clark had a long and successful career in the computer business as an executive administrator at McMaster University, and was one of the leaders in the field of computerized medical data processing. After teaching computer courses at the University of Calgary, and being a computer systems analyst for several large firms in Calgary, Clark retired because of illness. Sailor leaves behind his partner in life of thirty-seven years, Madeline; sons, Howard, Mark, and Jeff; daughters, Cathy, Tracy and Beverly. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Emma, Jake, Claire, Katelyn, Maggie and Henry, who loved him very much. Also mourning the passing of Clark are his sister Gail; his stepfather Ed; Aunt Lee; Uncle Charlie; and numerous cousins who will miss him. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 13, 1997 at the Bowness Royal Canadian Legion Hall at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to celebrate Clark's life with his family (9/12/1997).
