Irene is lovingly remembered by her sons, Earl (Eva), Lorne (Theresa), and his children, Carra, Travis and Chad; her sister Marie Brown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband Carl and her brother Henry Poffenroth. She was a loving wife, mother, Nana and friend and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. WEIGEL - Gentle Ben passed away at home on June 17, 1997 at the age of 59 years with all of his family present. He leaves to mourn, his common-law wife Louise Dalton; and five children, Rose-marie (Lloyd), Darrell (Joan), Karen, Selena (Allan) and Julie (Shane); his loving dear friend Selena Roberts; and nine point five grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Mary (Martin), Virginia (Larry), Bernadette (Audrey) and Katie; two brothers, Joseph (Gayle) and John (Lena); and numerous nieces and nephews. WEINLEIN - Patricia Mary Weinlein, beloved wife of Roland Weinlein of Calgary, passed away at home on Friday, September 26, 1997 at the age of 56 years. WEISNER - Lydia Weisner, nee Stuckert, passed away peacefully on November 20, 1997 at the age of 82 years. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander, two brothers, Albert and Fred, and two sisters, Emma King and Elsie O'Brien. Lydia is survived by her two sons, Gerald (Dorothy), Gary (Janet); daughter Margaret (Robert) Campbell; brother Walter Stuckart; sister Joyce Carmichael; as well as her grandchildren, Debbie (Paul) Hennig, Karen (Colin) Kinley, Steven (Deanna) Weisner, Linda (Dallas) Miller, Jonathon and Stephanie Campbell; and three great-grandchildren. She was an active lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, as well as a charter member and volunteer at the Bethany Care Centre for thirty-six years, and a longtime volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross as well as the Calgary Public School Board. Lydia will be sadly missed. Funeral Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church (204 - 6A Street N.E.) on Saturday, November 22, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Markus Wilhelm officiating. WENDELBOE - Ernest, beloved husband for fifty-six years of Elva Janet Brown Wendelboe, passed away peacefully on December 10, 1997 at the age of 83 years. He is also survived by his loving daughter Jann (Don) Smith of Calgary; five grandchildren, Shannon, Randy (who is presently serving a mission in Marseille, France), Brandon, Tiffany and Jacqueline; three sisters, Eleanor Long and Rosemary Sylvester both of Red Deer, Alberta and Vivian Shew of Clinton, Ohio; a brother Mick Wendelboe of Fairview, Alberta; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary and two sisters, Clare and Betty. He was born on April 23, 1914 in Barons, Alberta and raised in the Starline/Claresholm area. Ernest was employed with Alberta Gas Trunk Line (Nova) from 1958 to 1979 retiring as Senior Meter Station Operator. WERNAER - Helmut Wernaer, beloved husband of Mrs. Mildred Wernaer of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on December 12, 1997 after a lengthy illness at the age of 85 years. Helmut was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1912. He served in World War II and came to Canada in the 1950's. For many years, Helmut owned and operated "The Gallery of Fine Arts" and a framing shop located in Calgary. Besides his loving wife, Helmut is survived by a brother Wolfgang of Germany; a nephew Ike of Texas; and a niece Gisela of Montreal, Quebec; as well as three stepdaughters and their families, Sandra Welsh and Brenda Gray, both of Calgary, Linda Cameron of Nova Scotia. WEX, LABELL - Myra. Died Friday night, November 21, 1997 in her ninety-first year. Wife of the late Moishe Wex of Calgary, Alberta. Survived by her devoted children, Howard and Libby, Ronnie and Rhoda. Loving and caring grandchildren, Mitchell and Jason, Derek and Lucy, Neil and Marni, Stephen and Stanley. She also leaves great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Jenna, Jordan and Amy whom she adored. As well, survived by the devoted Wex family (11/26/1997).

WEERSTRA - It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden death on December 8, 1997 of Thomas Wayne, born May 6, 1950 in Lethbridge.
