Helen was born in 1909 at Spring Lake, Alberta. Helen fulfilled her professional teaching career in local Alberta schools as well as in Langley, British Columbia. She was truly a stimulating and inspiring Christian woman. She leaves to mourn her loss, siblings and their spouses, Agnes Reilander of Lethbridge, Leo and Jean Vos of Daysland, Brother Alfred Vos, OFM of Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Kathleen Rath of Edmonton, Henry and Mary Vos, and Genevieve Vos, all of Calgary. Helen was predeceased by her husband Irwin (Dave) Connolly, five sisters and a brother. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral (219 - 18 Avenue S.W.) today, December 22, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Benedicto Marino, Celebrant. CONNORS - Mr. Elmer Connors, beloved husband of Mrs. Mila Connors of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on September 11, 1997. Elmer was born on May 13, 1926 at Spry Bay, Nova Scotia. Besides his loving wife Mila, Elmer is also survived by his children, Floyd, Darlene Setter, and Richard, all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Meghan and Rebecca Setter, and Ryan and Jennifer Connors. He is also survived by his mother Della Connors; brother Weldon and his wife Mary of Brantford, Ontario; and three sisters, Phyllis and her husband James Rood of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jessie and her husband George Mason of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Kathleen Reid of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Elmer was predeceased by his father Arthur, four brothers, Gordon, Frank, Stanley and Earl. CONROD - Mrs. Vera Conrod of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the Bow Crest Nursing Home on December 25, 1996 at the age of 99 years. CONSTANT - Margaret P., passed away on Sunday, December 21, 1997 at the Foothills Hospital due to complications following surgery. She leaves to mourn her children, Judith Calieri of Mesquite, Nevada, Susan (Chris) Hamilton of Calgary, and Christopher (Kathleen) Constant of Calgary. She also leaves her grandchildren, Lael and Robin; as well as her great-grandchildren, Rachel, Johnny and Amanda. She was predeceased by her son Brian in 1947. She will be missed by all of her relatives and friends in Thunder Bay. Margaret moved to Calgary from her home town of Thunder Bay, Ontario in August of 1969, and worked as Supervisor at the Foothills Hospital Nurses Residence. She later went on to become Director of the Riverside Villa Halfway House for women in Calgary, and later Social Director at the Banff Springs Hotel, as well as Manager at the Pinewoods, Swiss Village Lodge and the Banffshire Hotel. Margaret was President of Soroptimist International of the Banff National Park until she moved to Calgary, due to illness in 1980. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 154. At Margaret's request, there will be a Memorial Service on a later date at the Riverside Cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ontario. COOPER - Marcus Manuel Cooper, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on November 24, 1997 at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his children, Bob, Gary (Betty), Doug, Gloria (Kingsley), Robert (Dora), Maurice and Marlene; his stepchildren, David, Don, Cheryl, Patricia, Steve and Debbie; numerous grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys, Wilma, Evelyn, Verna and Vivian; and brothers, Edward and Elmer; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marcus was predeceased by his wife Marjorie Cooper, his parents, Emma May and Myron, and by brothers, Nelson, Hubert, Albert, Ernie and Henry. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends at the Colonel Belcher Hospital. Special thanks to the nurses and staff on the second and third floors at the Colonel Belcher and in the Telemetry Unit at Foothills Hospital. COPELAND - Jessie (nee Mitchell) passed away September 8, 1997 at the Agape Manor Hospice at the age of 88 years. She was born September 16, 1908 at Mount Airy, Ohio and came to Calgary in 1911 and then moved to the Vulcan area with her family. In 1927, Jessie married Matthew McQuisten Copeland of Glasgow, Scotland and they moved to Calgary where she resided until her passing. Jessie was a thirty year member of Central United Church and a member of the Rebecca Lodge for many years. She was a long-time resident at the Jacques Lodge prior to her illness. Jessie was predeceased by her husband in 1972. She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Maisie) Thompson and Sheila (Cec) Jahrig of Calgary; her sisters, Mary Leonard of Lethbridge and Elma (Ford) Fisher of Cranbrook, B.C.; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Thursday, September 11, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Lewry officiating. COPITHORNE - C.W. (Bill) Copithorne of Bluffton passed away peacefully at the Rimbey and District Health Care Centre on October 30, 1997 at the age of 66 years. Bill was born and raised in the Calgary area where he worked for AGT for thirty-two years as a construction foreman. Upon retiring in 1982, he moved to Rimbey with his wife Peggy to pursue his longtime love of farming. Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed being outdoors with his family. Bill was an active member of the Southern Alberta Pioneers and Their Descendants in Calgary; serving on the Board of Directors, as well as President. Bill was a past director of the Rimbey Rodeo Association and he was very active in the Lavesta Community Association. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. May God rest his soul. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Peggy; two sons, Shaun and his wife Yvonne Copithorne and their children, Barry and Robert, all of Spruce Grove; and Mark and his wife Diane Copithorne and their children, Chelsey, Lyndon and Brooklyn, all of Rocky Mountain House. Bill will also be lovingly remembered by Muriel Philp of Rimbey; two brothers, Ian and his wife Eileen Copithorne of Bluffton, and Rolfe and his wife Dagmar Copithorne of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Louise. CAMPBELL - John (Jack) Campbell, beloved husband of Mrs. Barbara Campbell, of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on September 6, 1997 at the age of 80 years. Born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on February 20, 1917, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a flying officer and flight instructor during World War II. After completing military service, Jack attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Business and Commerce degree in 1949. He joined the Hudson's Bay Company in Vancouver on May 2, 1942. In 1955 he was transferred to Calgary and retired from the Hudson's Bay Company in 1982. Jack was athletic all his life; he enjoyed hockey and skiing, but his first love was golf. In 1945 he married Barbara and they spent fifty-two years together. Besides his loving wife, Jack is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Steven Johnson, and Mary and Terry Gregoraschuk; and his four grandchildren, Ryan and Ashley Johnson, and Alix and Mackenzie Gregoraschuk, all of Calgary.
