CLEMENTS - Olivia (Lovie) passed away on December 25, 1997 at the age of 84 years to be with her loving husband Speed. She is survived by her son Brenton (Loretta) and their six children, daughter Shirley (Norm) Carter and their nine children, daughter Gloria (Wayne) Dale-Johnson and their five children, and her late daughter Doreen (Michael) Meyers' children. She is also survived by two nephews, many great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Frank (Speed), her son Billy, daughter Doreen (Michael), brothers, Crawford and Courtney Scott, and a niece Edna. Lovie was born on January 31, 1913 in Calgary. She met Speed in 1927 and they married on May 8, 1930, enjoying sixty-five years together. Lovie's family was the centre of her life. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, being known as "mom", (Nana) to many others as well. Her home was always open to those who knew her. Lovie was co-founder of Calalta Figure Skating Club and worked hard to bring indoor skating arenas to Calgary. She also spent many summers as dorm mother for the summer skating school in Kelowna. Lovie spent the past seven months living at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie to be near family. Her family and friends loved her a great deal and she will be sadly missed. Funeral Services will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., on Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. CLENCHY - Douglas Frederick Clenchy of Calgary, passed away suddenly in Nanaimo, B.C. on December 18, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Doug was born in Calgary on January 7, 1925. He served with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War, seeing active duty aboard a minesweeper off the coast of Halifax. Doug joined the Calgary Fire Department in 1948, where he worked for thirty-two years, retiring in 1980 with the rank of District Chief. He had just celebrated forty-nine years of marriage to his wife and best friend Doris on December 16, 1997. Doug is survived by his wife Doris; his sons, Carey, Kelly (Brooke) and Doug (Carol); and four grandchildren, Scott, Tyler, Megan and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother Fred and sister Elsie. Doug was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. We all miss him dearly; his memory will live with us for the rest of our lives. A Memorial Service in celebration of Doug's life was held in Nanaimo on December 22, 1997. CLISDELL - Catherine Emily Clisdell of Calgary, passed away suddenly at her residence on Tuesday, December 16, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Emily was born August 5, 1925 in Timmins, Ontario. She moved to Calgary in 1968 and worked for Health of Animals. In 1973, she married Bert Clisdell and later moved to Kathyrn and to Airdrie where she worked for the accounting firm of Phil Wallis. During the Second World War, Emily served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was presently a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Airdrie Branch No. 288. Emily is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Marie and Kevin Towns, Marilyn and Phil Bates, Isabell Clisdell; and a son Robert Clisdell, all of Calgary; and three granddaughters, Kayla, Brittany and Ashleigh. She is also survived by a sister Anne Magnuson of Connaught, Ontario; and a niece Billie Jeges of Carstairs, Alberta; as well as many other nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her husband Bert in 1996 and five brothers, Albert, Bill, Ken, Jack and Bob. Graveside Services will be held at Airdrie Cemetery today, December 20, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with the Pastor Wayne Mugleston of Airdrie Victory Church officiating. CLOSE - Forrest Roy Close passed away on June 30, 1997 at the age of 66 years, beloved husband of Helen Close of Calgary; father of John (Janet Marie); and grandfather of Dillon and Allistair of Hinton, AB. He is also survived by a brother Harold (Iris) in Sonningdale, Sask.; and a sister Elaine (Jerry) Anderson of Toronto, Ont. He was born, raised and educated in Sonningdale, Sask. and moved to Calgary in 1957. He was employed with the C.P.R. Ogden Shops office for thirty years. COCHRANE - (nee Walker) Ruby Jean of the Beverly Centre passed away on July 10, 1997 at the age of 97 years, beloved mother of Jean Douglas, Port Coquitlam, B.C., Robert (Margaret), Ottawa, Alice, Calgary, John (Anne), Calgary, Marlene (Darwin) Armit, Arlington, Washington, Elizabeth Staub, Calgary and James (Donna) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Stewart in 1968, a son Douglas in 1992, a daughter Mary Louise in 1944 and two brothers, Robert and Reginald Walker of Kinburn, Ontario. Ruby was born in Kinburn, Ontario, April 26, 1900 and resided in Winnipeg from 1923 until 1971 when she moved to Calgary where she lived since. Funeral Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.), on Monday, July 14, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Samuel J. Stewart officiating. DALGLEISH-KEY - Crystal Donna Dalgleish-Key of Calgary passed away suddenly on June 14, 1997 at the age of 13 years. She was a grade eight student at F.E. Osborne Jr. High School. She was an entertainer and enjoyed playing guitar, keyboard and singing. Crystal was a friend to everyone she met. She has enriched all our lives with her flamboyant personality. Crystal will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her mother Diane (Mark) Key; her father Phil (Sylvie) Dalgleish; her sisters, Angela and Sandy; and her stepbrother Stephane. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandparents, Ruby Fagan, and Ernie and Joyce Dalgleish; and her great-grandparents, Gladys Stanley and Ernest Dalgleish; her aunts, Linda (Dave), Debbie (Tom), Wendy, Heather (Restie), and Donna; her uncles, Glen (fiancee Kim), Ernie and Ken (Joanne); her cousins, David, Melissa, Christina, Antoine, Jean-Cedrique, Robbie, Scott, Christopher, Dale, Lance and JR; dear friends, Cora and Karen; and many special relatives and friends. Crystal was predeceased by her grandfather, Albert Fagan and Uncle Bruce.
