BAKER - Reta May (Horsey). In hospital on Tuesday, June 3, 1997. Reta Baker, age 88 years. Wife of William (Bill) Baker. Dear mother of Betty Forrest (Chuck), Irwin (Doreen) Horsey of Calgary, and Joan (Ken) Eades of Calgary. Loving grandmother of Irwin Jr., Cindy, Jennifer, Glen and Judy of Calgary, Gerry, Gail and the late Irwin of Ottawa. Great-grandmother of Shawn, Ashley, Andrew and Brittany of Calgary, Cheryl, Scott, Lee, Paul and Michael of Ottawa. Lifelong member of St. Luke's Anglican Church and life member of the A.C.W. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of the TUBMAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Service in St. Luke's Anglican Church Friday, 1:00 p.m. Interment Beechwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to St. Luke's Anglican Church, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Palliative Care Unit of the Elisabeth-Bruyere Health Centre would be appreciated. (6/5/97)

BAKSA - Mr. Paul Baksa passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on December 26, 1997 at the age of 94 years. He is survived by his daughter Margaret Baksa; stepson Charles Siklodi; four grandchildren, Kalman Herbath, Margaret Herbath, Robert Siklodi, Vincent (Maureen) Siklodi; one great-granddaughter Kendra; as well as numerous relatives in Hungary. Paul was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 1987 and daughter-in-law Sharon in 1997. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at JACQUES FUNERAL HOME, 240 - 17 Avenue S.W., on Thursday, January 1, 1998 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Jacques Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Istvan L. Zachfalvy of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church officiating. Interment to follow in the Field of Honour at Queen's Park Cemetery. JACQUES FUNERAL HOME, Directors. (12/30/1997).

BALDWIN - Mary Elizabeth, beloved wife of Mr. Jeff Baldwin of Calgary, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 9, 1997 at the age of 31 years. Mary was born June 2, 1966 a native Calgarian. She was the second youngest of four daughters born to Alex and Eva Horvath. Mary graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1985. The love of her life through high school until the day of her passing was Jeff Baldwin whom she married in 1989. Even through her physical ailments, Mary was very strong willed and positive. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals and at present there are eight dogs living at the Baldwin home, either rescued from animal shelters or abusive homes. Her love and tenderness will be missed but never forgotten. Besides her loving husband, Mary is also survived by her family, her father Alex Horvath of Calgary; three sisters, Maggie, Eva, Kathy (Joe); father and mother-in-law, William and Leona, all of Calgary; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her mother Eva Horvath in August of this year. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Anne's Catholic Church (830 - 21 Avenue S.E.) today at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Stefan Ganowicz and the Rev. Robert M. Kason, C.S.B. Celebrants. Graveside Services to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association (No. 114, 1212 - 1 Street S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 0G8) or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Calgary Chapter (1324B Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2R7). As a tribute to Mary, Leyden's Funeral Homes will make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements in care of LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOMES LTD. "A Golden Rule Member". (12/12/1997).

BANKS - Dorothy May (nee Harding), passed away on Sunday, December 28, 1997 at the age of 98 years. She was born August 22, 1899 in Shropshire, England. Dorothy's family homesteaded in the Olds area when she was fourteen. She taught school from the one room school house and later the normal practice to substitute teaching in more modern schools in Calgary until her retirement. With an indomitable adventuresome spirit, she became involved in the United Church Missionary Society, the Calgary General Hospital Auxiliary, the Calgary Zoo, the Glenbow Museum, the Alberta Aberdeen Angus Association and was inducted into the Olds College Hall of Fame in 1993. Dorothy loved music, so having accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour, she is now relishing the heavenly music. She will also be remembered for her insatiable desire to learn, her positive attitude and sense of humor. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Sandi Landymore and Susan Banks. "Muggy", as she was affectionately dubbed by her grandchildren, Jim Landymore (with two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Rochele), Ken Landymore (with great-granddaughter Baylee), Steven Landymore and Sharilyn Landymore, will also be joyfully remembered by each one. Dorothy has two living brothers, Hugh Harding of Victoria, and Kenneth Harding of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, as well as many wonderful nephews, nieces and their children. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Rowland and Nellie Harding, two sisters, Joyce as a baby, and Elsie in 1984, as well as her husband Dr. Bligh Banks in 1988. A celebration of Dorothy Banks' life will be held at First Alliance Church, 1201Glenmore Trail S.W., Calgary, on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation and arrangements in care of HERITAGE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICE, "Calgary Crematorium Chapel". (12/31/1997).

McKEVITT - Larry of Calgary, passed away on September 11, 1997 at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Larry is survived by his best friend and wife, Marcelle of thirty-three years; his loving daughter Michelle and husband Darcy Kopp; and special grandson Ryan. Larry has been a longtime employee of the Western Co-op Fertilizer where he thoroughly enjoyed his work and the many friends he acquired there. Larry's love for life included spending special time with family and friends. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and cheering on the Stampeders. Larry is survived by his brothers, Hugh (Marilyn), Ed (Linda); sisters, Sheila Bateman, Alberta (Ken) Macmillan, Audrey (Jack) Whiteley; mother-in-law Cecile Reeves; brother-in-law Dennis (Leslie) Stringer; sister-in-law Joanne (Richard) Wilson; along with numerous nieces and nephews. McKINNON - Mary Marta McKinnon, beloved wife of Angus McKinnon of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Friday, June 27, 1997 at the age of 78 years. Mary was born in Acme, AB but has resided in Calgary since 1936. She was a graduate of SAIT and following this, worked in retail ladies apparel for many years. Mary enjoyed over fifty-five years of marriage to her loving husband Angus. Together they travelled to many parts of the world including an African Safari, Europe and the United Kingdom. The Shriners were a big part of their lives along with the Alberta, Canadian and International Credit Unions. Mary was vibrant and active right up to her short illness that took her from us. We will miss her but we will always remember her. Besides her loving husband, Mary is survived by her sisters Elsie Pekse of Cremona, AB, Ida Yandt of Calgary, AB and Annie Neumiller of Carstairs, AB; her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Geraldine Keim of Acme, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Elizabeth Keim, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel", (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Wednesday, July 2, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary. PACKER - Mrs. Marie Theresa Packer (nee Schwipple), passed away at the George Boyack Nursing Home on December 19, 1997 at the age of 89 years. Marie was born June 5, 1908, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was an avid bowler with the Chinook Golden Age Club. Marie enjoyed traveling throughout the province with her friends, participating in bowling tournaments and was very proud of her accomplishments. She was the loving mother of two sons and a daughter-in-law, C. Gordon and his wife Corinne, and Keith Garry, all of Calgary; two grandchildren, Susan and her husband Bryant Petkau, and Terry Lynn and her husband David Schmidt; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Taryn, Erica, Eden and Evan. She is also survived by a sister Anne Sullivan of Winnipeg. Marie was predeceased by her parents, and a sister Emma Haywood. Funeral Services will be held at George Boyack Nursing Home (1203 Centre Avenue East), on Saturday, December 27, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert William Simms of Rosedale United Church officiating. Special thanks to the caring staff at the George Boyack Nursing Home and special friend Hilda Martin. PARKER - Gladys Jane Parker (nee Mortimer) "Aunt Janey, Aunt Happy", born in Carbon, Alberta on December 26, 1915, passed away peacefully on June 3 1997. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, two brothers and two sisters. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother is survived by daughter Shirley; sister Doreen Slade of Birmingham, England; sister-in-law Polly Mortimer of Drumheller; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and dear nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at Queen's Park Cemetery on Monday, June 9, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to meet with the family at FOSTER'S FUNERAL HOMES "Garden Chapel", 3220 - 4 Street N.W.
