Born April 16, 1964, died on May 30, 1997 after a two year struggle with lymphoma, at her parents' home in Edmonton, Alberta. Deeply missed by her parents, Judith and Rod; her brother Rob; family, friends and Rocket, her Afghan. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, June 7 in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship in her name is being established at the University of Alberta for students studying music or environment and conservation sciences. GILMURRAY - Mr. William Joseph Gilmurray "Wicked Willy" of Priddis, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on December 21, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Willy will be dearly missed by his surrogate family, Harold and Deb Francis, Joan Van Bruggen, Louanne McKillop and children. A special thanks to Dr. George Barr and all the special people who helped make his last year happy. GINGRAS - Louise Olivine Gingras (nee Janex) passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family on October 22, 1997 at the age of 80 years, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Louise was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Bruce) Sutherland, Philip Gingras and Sharron Kuiper, Diane (Bob) Stewart, Lorraine Cooper and Michael (Dallas) Gingras; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Louise resided in the Blackie area for many years before moving to Brooks in 1968. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League and was recently distinguished with a fifty year pin and certificate. Louise was predeceased by her husband Adrien in 1959 and a brother Joe in 1978. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers on Sunday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church, 511 - 4 Street West, Brooks. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Mary's, the Rev. Bryan Frank, Celebrant. GALLOWAY - Mrs. Edith Cavell Galloway, beloved wife of Mr. John Galloway of Calgary, formerly of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on July 9, 1997 in the presence of her family, at the age of 80 years. Edith was born in New Brunswick on April 8, 1917, and later moved to Sault Ste. Marie where she and her husband had resided for forty-eight years, moving to Calgary in 1996. Edith had been active in the Eastern Star for many years, where she held the office of Star Point for five years. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother, and dear friend to many. Besides her loving husband, Edith is also survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John "Donald" of Sault Ste. Marie, and Bruce Daymond and Deborah of Toronto; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Ann and Ron Nesbitt of Manitoulin Island, and Judith Margaret and Lawrence Shaw of Calgary; as well as four grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Vivian Hodgeson of Webwood, Ontario. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Elboya Chapel", (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Monday, July 14, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Lewry of Central United Church officiating. GANONG - Charles Harry Ganong, beloved husband of Judy Ganong, passed away November 22, 1997 at the Peter Lougheed Centre at the age of 52 years. As well as his wife, he is survived by their three sons, Shane (Shirley), Kelly, and Rory (Serena); five grandchildren, Travis, Culinda, Stephanie, Nicole and Kathleen; three sisters, two brothers, and many other relatives and friends. Charlie was born and raised in Calgary. He has been a dedicated Firefighter for twenty-seven years and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. GARDNER - Margaret Jean was called home to her Lord and Saviour, June 6, 1997 at Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 81 years. Beloved wife of Mr. Gordon Gardner of Vulcan; loving mother of a daughter Connie (Richard) Klassen of Ponoka; a son Ralph (Denice) of San Clemente, California; five grandchildren, Catrena Klassen and Lance Klassen, both of Red Deer, Michael (Anne) Gardner of Calgary, Bruce of Langley, and Janice of Vancouver; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil (Linda) Warden of St. Albert, Robert and Jean of Edmonton, and Leslie and Shirley of Regina; two sisters, Vernie Budd of Vulcan and Hughena (Peter) Rozena of Calgary; numerous nieces and nephews.
