Survived by his wife Joan; his mother Maria (Cornies) Andersen of Surrey, B.C.; his sister-in-law Blanche Crichton of Calgary; and nieces, Linda Hearn (Roland) and Lorna Gronberg (Eric), and their children, Shannon, Michael, Ryan, and Paul Hearn, and Jennifer and Susan Gronberg. He was predeceased by his father Carl. Ira was born in Calgary on May 5, 1933 and as a teenager he lived in Vancouver. He returned to Calgary in 1953 and married Joan in May 1954. He was employed at the Calgary General Hospital for twenty-five years. Ira was a very kind, caring, devoted husband and was Joan's childhood sweetheart, soul-mate and best friend. They shared a very deep love for one another. Private Service at Temple Baptist Church. HUMPHREY - Thomas Alexander Wilson Humphrey April 4, 1919 - May 19, 1997 With saddened hearts we announce the passing of the dearest man in our life, dear husband and Dad, leaving to mourn and remember him with great love - Doris (wife of fifty-one years), and daughter Cheryl. He will always be remembered and loved by Irene (Bob) Gibbon of Red Deer; Bob (Margaret) Humphrey of Dingwall, Scotland; Harry (Jean) Humphrey of Okanagan Falls as well as Aldo (Bernie) Johnson; Evelyn Richardson; Flo (Lloyd) Cooper; Hazel Johnson; and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. He was predeceased by brother Woody in 1989 and sister Jeannie. Tom was born in Dingwall, Scotland coming to Canada at the age of four with his parents and two brothers. He was raised in Calgary (Bankview) where he met Doris and was married on August 28, 1945. He worked for Imperial Oil in Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton for almost thirty-eight years. During those years he developed friendships with many wonderful people. He was a special and unique man with an exceptional sense of humor. No one really dies as long as there are people on this earth who love and remember him. "Until we are together again in warm embrace. You will always be so close and so dear in our hearts and minds!!!" Tom was laid to rest in Edmonton on Thursday, May 22, 1997. HUNKA - August 14, 1923 to September 3, 1997. Mr. William (Bill) Hunka of Calgary passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home on September 3, 1997 at the age of 74 years. Bill was born in Andrew, Alberta on August 14, 1923 and was the youngest of nine children born to John and Maria Hunka. He was in active service in England during World War II, as a navigator and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon his return, he graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked for many years as a Petroleum Engineer in Western Canada, Northern British Columbia, Ontario and Iran. His many loves included gardening and wood working, but most importantly, his family. Bill was a dedicated, loving father and a loyal friend. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and his sons, Kerry (Wendy), Derek (Shanna) of Calgary; daughter Janine (Ev) Innes of Okotoks; and grandchildren, Lisandra, Paul, Nolan, Braden and Connell Hunka and Everett Innes. Bill also leaves behind his sister Katherine Huculak; brother Nick Hunka; and sisters-in-law, Jennie Hunka and Kay Hunka of Edmonton. Bill will also be sadly missed by numerous nephews and nieces and by his cousin and good friend Alex Hunka. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Monday, September 8, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. P.H. Burrill officiating. HUNT - Herbert Worth of Delta, B.C. passed away on September 13, 1997 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by his wife Marjorie in 1995. He is survived by his son Dwayne (Virginia); daughter Sheryl (Roger) Everett; grandchildren, Dana Hunt, Kari Grist, Rob Hunt and Trista Everett; great-grandchildren, Madison and Jesse Grist; sisters, Vera Barwick and Gladys Parsons. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m in the Arbor Chapel at Valley View, 14660 - 72 Avenue, Surrey, B.C. Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. HUNTER - Dolores Irene of Langham, Sask. passed away on Friday, November 21, 1997 at the age of 63 years. She is survived by her family, daughter Joanne (Ernie) Wiens, Saskatoon, grandchildren, Dana (Clayton); daughter Gail Beck, Langham, grandchildren, Wayne (Shaeri), Brandy, great-grandchild Mackenzie; daughter Pamela Hunter, Whitecourt, AB, grandchildren, Mitzi (Ryan), Melissa, John, Cody, Shania; son Don (Rose) Hunter, Whitecourt, AB, grandchildren, Shawna, Sarah, Justin; daughter Lesley (Cory) Rosenfeldt, Langham, grandchildren, Shawn, Steven; mother Christina Bellig, Langham; brother Richard (Rose) Bellig, Leduc, AB; two nieces, Tammy, Terri (Dennis) and family; two nephews, Todd (Carol) and family, and Tyler. IRONSIDE - Norman Dafoe Ironside, of Brandon, MB, passed away at the Brandon General Hospital on Sunday, June 15, 1997. He leaves to mourn, his wife June; daughter Cheryl (Ed); son Donald; three grandchildren; and his brother Jack (Irene). As was Norman's request, no Service will be held. IRVINE - Mr. John T. (Jack) Irvine of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully on July 1, 1997, at the age of 75 years. Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife Morag, on April 21, 1996. He will be forever loved and missed by his daughter Alison of Calgary; son James of Edmonton, and his partner Stephen Heatley; son John of Calgary and his wife Janice; son Robert of Halfmoon Bay, BC; and his granddaughter Sarah of Calgary. Jack also leaves one sister Mary Norton of Hamilton and her husband Bert; one brother-in-law Armstrong MacCrimmon of Calgary, and his wife Constance; two sisters-in-law, Muriel Irvine of Toronto, and Alison MacCrimmon of Toronto and her partner Jean Morrison; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James C. Irvine. Born in Schreiber, ON, on July 25, 1921, to Charles and Edith Irvine, Jack served overseas with the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War. He worked for Canadian Pacific Railways and Canadian Pacific Airlines before joining General Motors of Canada in 1955. Jack's career with G.M. spanned thirty rewarding years, and saw him make numerous friends in communities across Canada before his retirement to Calgary and Invermere in 1985. Jack was proud to conclude his career by serving as Commissioner of the General Motors pavilion at Expo '86 in Vancouver. Jack was a most warm, genuine and generous man, who never forgot a name nor failed a friend. A wonderful father and grandfather and a true gentleman, he will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Jack's children wish to express our love and gratitude to Armstrong and Constance MacCrimmon, who shared their home with Dad during his illness, and we especially thank Connie for all her loving care and devotion. ALLIDINA - With great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Fakirmohamed Rashid (Aly) Allidina, beloved husband of Mrs. Shirinbai Allidina of Calgary, at the Rockyview General Hospital on Friday, June 27, 1997 at the age of 71 years. Together with his wife, he leaves behind to mourn him, his son Mehboob (Shyrose) and their children, Adam and Jenna; his four daughters, Shahida (Sheeraz) and their children, Faheem and Rehana, Shaina (Shiraz) and their children, Tanya and Irfan, Salma (Aziz) and their children, Zahra and Alykhan, and Shama (Todd) and their children, Tasha and Katya. Mr. Allidina was born in Bharapur, India, apprenticed with Ford Motor Company in Nairobi, Kenya and worked there for twenty years. He went on to own and operate a Smoke Shop in downtown Nairobi. He moved to Calgary in 1979 and worked at the Four Seasons Hotel where he made many friends and was able to travel to other Four Seasons Hotels in Canada until his retirement in 1984. As the beloved Patriarch of his family, he will be sadly missed by the many he left behind who loved him in life and those whose lives he touched.
