ALLAN - H. Stewart Allan passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital Nursing Home on November 3, 1997. Stewart was born in Caley, Alberta on January 20, 1911. He worked in Calgary in radio/television electronics for RCA and Zenith before settling back in Nanton in 1979. Stew was a fisherman, a golfer, a curler, a musician and a "gentle" man who many knew as Ham Operator VE6BE. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Olive; a son Donald (Mary Jo) Allan of Calgary; a daughter Carol (Wayne) Long of Nanton; grandchildren, Steve (Adeline) Allan, and Janice Allan, and great-grandchild Chas Allan Atkinson, all of Calgary; grandchildren, Shauna Walker of Billings, Montana, and Jay Long of Bozeman, Montana; as well as a sister Alberta Coutts, Nanton; and brothers, Bill Allan, Vancouver, and Dave Allan, Mount Vernon, Washington; and sister-in-law Margaret, wife of brother Jack who died some years ago. Funeral arrangements by Snodgrass Funeral Home to be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 1997 at the Nanton United Church. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society (11/4/1997).

EVERY - Paul Adrian passed away on November 23, 1997 at the age of 22 years. Arrangements are in care of LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOMES LTD. "A Golden Rule Member". (12/3/1997).

EWEN - Mr. Hume Ivan Ewen, beloved husband and best friend of Shirley, passed away peacefully on September 4, 1997 at the age of 74 years, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and cancer. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Shirley; his brother Cliff of Victoria; sister Iris Sutton of Vancouver; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Don Jepson of Calgary, and their families, Jim and Ingrid Jepson and their children, Emily and Andrew, Rob and Julie Jepson, and their children, Monica and Carolyn, Donna and Chris Lindeburg; and other nieces and nephews, and his many friends, including his pal Sadie. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Lily Ewen of Medicine Hat, his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Tom Marlow of Victoria, his brother-in-law Bill Sutton of Vancouver, his sister-in-law Kit Ewen of Victoria, and his niece Anita Nicholson of Victoria. Hume will be remembered for his love of life, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor which were shared by all of those whose lives he touched. A Memorial Service for Hume will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Monday, September 8, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Betty Piwowar officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta, 480D - 36 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1W4 or directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, c/o Alberta Cancer Foundation, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and all staff of Unit 57 at the Tom Baker Centre. In living memory of Hume Ewen, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., CALGARY.

DUNCAN - Jean Watson, nee McCammon, passed away quietly late afternoon in Calgary, July 11, 1997 at Bethany Care Centre. Jean was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on July 17, 1907. She taught at Prince Arthur School for many years and was always very active in St. Andrew's United Church Ladies Activities as well as a regular and willing volunteer at the Union Hospital. Her husband Percy predeceased her in 1977 and she leaves two sons, Roger in Moose Jaw and Donald and his wife Doreen in Calgary; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one sister Margaret Lange of Calgary. She will be missed (7/19/1997).

DUNN - Thomas Joseph, born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 2, 1919. Thomas passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on September 13, 1997 at the age of 77 years. Thomas is survived by his sisters, Rosemary (Jerry) Fleck, and Maureen (Alan) Branton, all of Sherwood Park; sisters-in-law, Janine of Edmonton, Ruth (Arnold) Milman of Calgary, and Elsie (Dave) Sullivan of Red Deer; his brother-in-law Rolf Gilberg of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and their families. He was the very dear and special friend to Mady of Calgary. Thomas will be missed by all of his neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Anne, his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth, his brothers, Michael and Bernard, his sister-in-law Vera Gilberg, and his nephew Gordon Milman. A Prayer Service will be held at FOSTER'S FUNERAL HOMES, Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 404 Northmount place N.W., on Friday, September 19, 1997 at 10:30 a.m., with Reverend Fr. Greg Coupal, Celebrant. Cremation to follow. If desired, memorial tributes in Thomas' name may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. R. Sargent, and to the doctors and nurses of the Foothills Hospital. FOSTER'S FUNERAL HOMES, Garden Chapel, Directors. (9/18/1997).

DURHAM - Miles Mathers, born August 3, 1919, in Miami, Texas, died June 5, 1997, at the age of 77. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering on June 1, 1942. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and was honorably discharged in 1943. He began a thirty-eight year career with Shell Oil Company's mid-continental division, where he was dispatched to many parts of the mid-west and Canada. In 1981, he retired from Shell Canada, and returned to Texas where he opened the Houston office of Coho Oil Co. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Jane McHam Durham of Woodlands, Texas; daughters, Peggy and husband Robert Thompson of Calgary, Alberta, Lynn and husband Laurence Torsher of Rochester, Minnesota; son Douglas and wife Barbara Durham of Houston, Texas. A private Memorial Service was held in Amarillo, Texas (6/14/1997).

DURNIE - Elsie May (nee McArthur) passed away suddenly June 25, 1997 while visiting relatives in Sechelt, B.C., at the age of 74. She is survived by her sons, Gordon (Meryem), Sechelt, B.C., and Don (Sharon), Calgary; her grandchildren, David and Dean of Vancouver, and Jeff and Krista of Calgary. She is also survived by her brothers, Frank, John and Bob; and sisters, Dorothy, Hilda, and Kay; also brother-in-law Bob (Helen) Durnie of California; plus many nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Dave in 1988. At her request, no Funeral will be held. Cremation. An Open House will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m. at 2850 Oakmoor Crescent S.W. (6/28/1997).

ALFIERI - Mr. Antonio Alfieri, beloved husband of Mrs. Lucia Alfieri of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Monday, December 1, 1997 at the age of 77 years. Antonio was born on October 19, 1920 in Saviano, Napoli, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in August 1963. His love of life was going to his cabin with his family, enjoying the nature and joy surrounded by him. Antonio was a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Antonio is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosetta and Vincenzo Girimonte, Toni and John Scarpelli, and Maria and Joe Costa. He will be deeply missed by his seven grandchildren, Rosa and Rodney Ayotte, Gabriele Girimonte, Mario and Lucy Scarpelli, Salina and Janessa Costa; two great-grandchildren, Timothy and Andrew Ayotte; a nephew Umberto and Maria Migliaccio; two sisters-in-law, Maria Corcione and Gelsomina LaMarca; a brother-in-law Luigi Rossi; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Calgary. He is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews from Italy. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS and HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), today, December 4, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 - 14 Avenue N.E.), on Friday, December 5, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Valentino Alberton, C.S. Celebrant. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1A2 or to the Canadian Kidney Foundation of Canada, 1717 Macleod Trail S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 2N8. Antonio's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Unit 51 and his special nurses that made his hospital stay very comfortable and to Dr. K. Savoia for all your immediate attention. Not only were you a superb doctor, you were a friend. In living memory of Antonio Alfieri, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS and HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Chapel of the Bells", 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. (12/4/1997).

ALLEN - Beulah Mae (nee Donily). Born July 20, 1913 in Duluth, Minnesota, went home to the Lord in Errington, BC, May 30, 1997. She was predeceased by her husband Commodore in 1976. Beulah Mae is lovingly missed by her sons, Robert and William Allen of Calgary; daughter Hazel Allen of Red Deer, Alberta, and daughter Sylvia Campbell and husband Robin of Errington, BC. Beulah Mae lived her forty years of marriage to Commodore in the Vulcan district until 1976 when she then moved to Calgary. Her ventures took her to Leduc, Red Deer and Vancouver Island, where she lived with her daughters. At the age of sixty-five, Beulah Mae acquired her first job with Cadillac Fairview as a hostess. She enjoyed it tremendously. She is known for her creative talent in flower arranging, wedding decorating and fashion shows. A large part of Beulah Mae's life involved compassion and respect for others. She cared for her husband for two years after his stroke. At the same time she faithfully visited her younger sister in a nursing home every day for many years. Beulah Mae loved life. She loved to smile and to make people feel good. She loved the sun, flowers and being around people. She loved adventure and dared to be different. At the age of eighty-three, she had her first ride on a motorcycle. Join us to celebrate her passing on Saturday, June 7, 2:00 p.m. at her son's home at Trout Springs in Calgary, Alberta. Follow Glenmore Trail to Highway No. 8 to 117 Street, turn south at Elbow Springs Golf Course. Dinner served at 5:00 p.m (6/6/1997).
