Irene was very active with the Holy Spirit Catholic Church Parish and actively involved with the Community Operated Police Service (C.O.P.S.). She kept busy with her accounting business. Irene was a loving and caring wife, mother and sister and will be sadly missed by all. Besides her loving husband, Irene is survived by her sons, Shawn and Robin of Calgary. She is also survived by her brothers, John Drevenak of Pincher Creek and Joe Drevenak of Rocky Mountain House. She was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Mary Drevenak. KUHL - Anna (nee Wallinger) passed away at her residence on October 31, 1997 at the age of 94 years. She is survived by her grandson Ken Yasenchuk and his partner Janice. She was predeceased by her husband Martin and her daughter Barbara. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the friends, neighbors and care-givers who gave her so much comfort at the end. KUROPAS - On Wednesday, October 22, 1997, Mr. Walter Kuropas of Calgary passed away in the Foothills Hospital at the age of 70 years. Walter was born in Jaksmayczi, Peremyshyl, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1951 where he first settled in Lethbridge as a farm hand. That same year he met Ann Harbuz whom he married in 1956. Over the years he worked for the CPR and also in food preparation in the Calgary General Hospital before he retired due to health reasons in 1981. He leaves his loving wife of forty-one years, Ann Kuropas; three daughters, Irene Wood and husband Chris of Edmonton, Sandra Wallace and husband Jeff, Kathy Lattimer and husband Brent, son Jerry and wife Miranda, all of Calgary; also two grandchildren, Adam and Laura Wood. Walter also leaves numerous relatives and friends in Canada and the Ukraine. Friends and relatives are invited to Prayers at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 - 6 Street N.E.) this evening, Thursday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, October 24, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. KUSS - Mrs. Tina Kuss, beloved wife of Adam B. Kuss of Calgary, passed away peacefully at her home on November 12, 1997 at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her five children, Gloria (Cliff), Darlene (Dave), John (June), Stan, Sheree (Larry); and twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. KUTNYAK - Michael, beloved husband of Mrs. Maria Kutnyak of Calgary, passed away at home on September 9, 1997, at the age of 75 years. Besides his loving wife Maria, he will be dearly missed by his remaining family, Eva (Merv), Anna, Hajnal (Brian), Margaret (Roy), Michael, as well as by his six grandchildren. Mike was born in Hungary on January 9, 1922 and immigrated to Canada in 1951, where he met his wife Maria. Originally trained as an orthopedic and specialty shoemaker in Europe, he carried on into a tradition of excellence in wood-finishing and home decorating. Funeral Services to be conducted at the Chapel of FIRST MEMORIAL, 1635 - 17 Avenue S.W. on Saturday, September 13, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Services complete at the Chapel. (9/12/1997).
KUTRYK - Walter A. passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 1997. He was born August 27, 1921 in Beauvallon, Alberta. Walter is survived by his loving companion Helen Walker; two brothers, Demetrie, Edward; and one sister Eilien. He is also survived by three sons, Del (Donna), Gordon (Janice), Blair (Linda); and one daughter Norleen (Vern); twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Joanna Stuckly, Nurses, Nishm, Nada and Joanne and Home Care assistants, Anne, Vicky and Shirley. At Walter's request no formal Services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society (12/5/1997).
DOCKERY - Irene Joanne (Laurie), age 69, passed away October 23, 1997 at her residence. She was born August 7, 1928 in Brooks, AB. She is survived by her mother Eva Laurie of Calgary; a daughter Maureen Clarke of Delta, BC; a son George McCauley (Lillian) of Calgary; six grandchildren, Christian, Colleen Clarke, Lindsay, Eric, Nicholas, Michael McCauley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her father William Laurie in 1970. Calgary was her home for most of her life. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Alberta Branch No. 1. Irene spent many years in the banking industry where she received the White Hatter Award in 1961 for giving the best service and possessing the most pleasant personality. DOMENICHELLI - Katerina (Kay) Domenichelli (nee Nikiforuk), passed away at the Edmonton General Hospital on Monday, November 17, 1997 after a lengthy illness at the age of 77 years. She is the loving mother of her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ron Pelachuk of Calgary; and grandmother to two grandchildren, Trever and Nathan. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister. Kay was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1975.
