Dave leaves to mourn, his loving family, daughter Jilleen (Kerry Litwin) of Victoria, one son Davey (Stacey) of Drumheller, life partner and friend Sharon (Skogman), Doran and her husband Stu of Kelowna; mother Myrtle Kosko of Calgary; mother-in-law Doris Sprinkling of Victoria; two grandchildren, Justin and Dillen Litwin of Victoria; son-in-law Troy Hempel of Calgary; three sisters, Emily (Don) Lane, Lynn (Marc) Dupuis, Bertha Gottselig, all of Calgary; sister-in-law Linda (Jim) Passmore of Port Hardy, B.C.; one brother Steve (Joy) Kosko of Calgary; sister-in-law Donna Ball of Drumheller; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Susan) Skogman of Okotoks, Clayton Skogman of Edmonton, Larry Skogman of Victoria; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Dave was loved and admired by all who knew and loved him. "HE WALKS BESIDE US." He was predeceased by his daughter Dilleen (Tinker Kosko) Hempel, as well as one brother Bob, sister Mary Anne and brother-in-law Reg Gottselig. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 6, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Fred Sogz as Celebrant. KOSTYNUK - Mrs. Elsie Kostynuk of Calgary, passed away at the Bowview Manor Nursing Home on December 1, 1997 at the age of 88 years. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lana of Calgary; and a daughter Ivy of Vancouver. She is also survived by a brother Chester Johnson of Winfield, AB; three sisters, Ethel Green of Wetaskiwin, AB, Anne McLean of Lethbridge, AB, Irene Fredrickson of Calgary and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1976. BECK - Therese (Terry), nee Piolat. Passed away peacefully in her home in Ladysmith, B.C., on June 22, 1997. She is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Heinrich (Rick); sister Doreen; daughter Lani (Bryon); sons, Mike and Paul (Mary); and by granddaughters, Keira and Erin. Predeceased by brother Andre, and sister Bobbi. Terry, a woman of action and many talents, was born December 1, 1926 in Wolseley, Saskatchewan. Her careers were many and varied. She attended University in Saskatchewan and went to join the war effort ending up in Washington DC as a translator in the Canadian Army. After the war she moved to Vancouver where she worked as a copy boy and a secretary. She met Rick there and they traveled to his home in Denmark by freighter. They settled in Toronto in 1956. In Toronto she worked for a construction company, became an independent seamstress while her sons were young, and then branched into interior decorating. She successfully fought a bout with cancer in the 1960's showing to all her survivor spirit and determination. She moved to Calgary in 1971 and turned a love of plants into a horticultural degree when she was in her fifties. She did television and radio shows as well as a newspaper column on gardening. She worked for the City of Calgary as a Horticultural Technician in the Parks/Recreation Department. In 1989 she left her position as Gardener Supervisor at the University of Calgary and moved to Ladysmith where she spent her "retirement" years. In the eight years she was in Ladysmith she created a beautiful garden from scrub brush, grew flowers for other florists, worked as a Volunteer for the Parks Board, and took up and taught ceramics. She spent her life creating beauty and continuing to learn. She had a great love for work and enjoyed helping others to do the same. "What do you think this is... a vacation?" She touched many lives and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. A Memorial Service was held in Ladysmith. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (6/25/1997).
BEDDOE - Aimee Nicole Beddoe passed away on Saturday, November 29, 1997 while snowboarding in Kananaskis country. She was born October 12, 1979. Aimee was a natural leader, an outdoor enthusiast and a talented artist. As a gentle loving young woman, Aimee enjoyed music and deeply loved her friends and the environment. Like a warm breeze, Aimee's smile and spirit touched everyone around her. Aimee will be sadly missed by her family and friends whom she loved and who loved her deeply. Aimee is survived by her parents, Jane and Steve; her brothers, Owen, Tristan and Charles; her grandparents, Margaret and Jim Venables and Kay and Ken Beddoe of England; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. BEDDOWS - Albert Ernest Beddows, beloved husband of Lucy Beddows of Calgary, passed away at the Brentwood Nursing Home on Saturday, November 15, 1997 with family by his side, after being diagnosed with cancer one year ago. Bert was born on November 3, 1913 in Montreal and moved to Calgary at an early age. He was employed in hotel management. Later, he spent many years with Greyhound as a bus driver, where he met his wife Lucy, spending fifty-two years together. Bert is survived by his wife Lucy; his loving children, two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Fred Laudel, and Carol and Paul Gough, all of Calgary; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Anne of Brooks, AB, and John and Maggie of Mulhurst, AB. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kyle, Garrett, Tracy, Dean, Scott, Ryan, Marnie, Albert and Lee-Ann; as well as three great-grandchildren, Brock, Raelene and Jody. Bert was predeceased by his mother Maggie May Hunter in 1980 and his son Gerald in 1986. BEEBY - Maudie Elizabeth Beeby passed away in the Bethany Care Centre on December 19, 1997. She was born in Calgary on May 11, 1913 and married Gordon Barker on December 18, 1940, and Wilfred Beeby on July 16, 1960. Maudie worked at the Calgary General Hospital Central Supply Room in the 1950's and 1960's and moved to Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia in 1968, where she worked at the Fairmont Campground and as a hostess in Fairmont Lodge Restaurant. Maudie is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Brian Carlson, and much loved grandsons, Jason and Jordan; as well as a niece and nephew in the U.S. and other relatives in Calgary. Maudie is predeceased by her first husband F.G. Barker in 1948, and her second husband W. Beeby in 1991, son Frederick Barker in 1985 and sister Marguerite Neilson in 1993. Funeral Services will be held in the Prayer Chapel at the Bethany Care Centre (south entrance, 916 - 18A Street N.W.) on Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Warren Litt officiating. KOREK - Gladys Hayes Korek, of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Bow Crest Nursing Home on July 21, 1997 at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her son Ken and his wife Donna Korek of Calgary; a sister Florence Smith of Langley, BC; and three grandsons, Douglas and his wife Kathleen of Sundre, Michael and his wife Alana of Edmonton, Jeffrey and his wife Kimberly of Calgary. Gladys was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter in 1993. Flowers gratefully declined.
