KLASSEN – Mr. Darren James Klassen of Salt Spring Island, B.C., formerly Ferintosh, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004 at the age of 31 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents Bob and Alice of Ferintosh; two brothers Jody (Elaine) of Mayerthorpe and Colin of Camrose; two sisters Cindy (Blake) Syrnk of Ferintosh and Nancy (Jason) Enarson of Ferintosh; six nieces and nephews Jenna, Jordan, Sydney, Kalysha, Holly and Luke; grandparents Bill and Eva Klassen of Herbert, SK. Darren was predeceased by his grandparents John and Margaret Goertzen.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. from the Highland Park Evangelical Free Church, New Norway with Pastor Kevin Birch and Pastor Joel Megli officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Nellie Giles
GILES – Nellie Giles passed away peacefully at the Mayfair Care Center in Calgary on Oct. 25, 2004 at the age of 93 years. Nellie will be lovingly remembered by her son Gordon (Verna) Giles and daughter-in-law Bernice Giles, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Giles, and son Clifford Giles.
A Memorial Service was held at McDougall United Church, 8516 Athabasca St. SE, Calgary on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McDougall United Church.

Else passed away peacefully on Aug. 16, 2004. She will be missed by her husband Willy Hercher of Camrose; her son and daughter-in-law Carmen and Dieter Hercher and their three children Sean, Christa and Kyle of Cochrane; in Edmonton her daughter and son-in-law Trixie and Les Garvey and their children Christopher and Jessica.Oma came from Germany in 1952 to start a brand new life in Canada. She loved the mountains and was quoted as saying, “I love it here, I’m staying!” Now she is on her biggest adventure yet! We will always have many, many fond memories of her and wonderful traditions that we will carry on. Thanks to the ICU, U of A and especially “New Zealand Nurse” Steve; through your caring and compassion you helped us in a very difficult time. Larry Donald Lorenz
LORENZ – Early on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 Larry Donald Lorenz passed away at his home in Camrose at the age of 54 years following a severe seizure from which he did not recover.
Left to mourn his passing are three older siblings: Adele (Ray) Coates of Cold Lake, Ken (Sharon) Lorenz of Spruce Grove, Lyle (Rosemary) Lorenz of Lacombe; nine nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Jake in 1998 and his mother Josie in 1999.
Prayer Services were held on Friday, Aug. 13 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Provost with funeral services Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. and interment in the Provost Cemetery.
In the fall of 1983 Larry moved to Camrose with his parents and lived with them until their passing. For the past five and one-half years he lived in the family home with caregivers providing excellent ongoing assistance. He loved to play bingo, listen to his old tapes and records and visit with friends and relatives. Going out for a good supper meal was something he also enjoyed.
The Lorenz family would like to express their gratitude to all those who provided help and assistance to Larry during his 20+ years living in the Camrose community.
Katherine Rostad
ROSTAD – Katherine Rostad, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at the age of 89 years.
Katherine was born July 9, 1915 at Bracken, SK where she completed her schooling. She then moved to Cana, SK to assist her aunt and uncle and it was there she met the love of her life. They wed in Shaunavon, SK where they operated a gas station and cafe. When they retired in 1989 they moved to Camrose to be closer to their family.
Katherine will be lovingly remembered by her two sons Allen (Jackie) and Ken (Shirley), all of Camrose; two daughters Elaine Reid of Calgary and Marjorie (Bob) Laframboise of Okotoks; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Don (Doris) McLennan of Shaunavon and sister-in-law Ellen Auckland of Camrose.
She was predeceased by her husband Leif in 1994; son Brian in 1986; and son-in-law John Reid in 1996.
Katherine will be sadly missed and ever remembered for her love and kindness to all.
A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m from Weber’s Mount Pleasant Chapel. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to St. Mary’s Hospital CT Scanner Fund, Bethany Long Term Care Centre or the charity of one’s choice.
BERGUM, Jeffrey David
BERGUM – Jeffrey David was born in Swift Current, SK on May 12, 1966 passed away to his eternal home on Aug. 7, 2004 in Surrey, BC after a five month battle with a brain tumor. Jeffrey graduated from grade twelve in Weyburn, SK and went on to post-secondary graduate in textiles and fashion, designing in Calgary. He will be lovingly remembered by his parents David and Bea; sister Kathy (Rick) Davies; his Grandma Mellom, two nieces, Erika and Danielle; many relatives and good friends. Predeceased by Grandma and Grandpa Bergum and Grandpa Mellom. A Service of remembrance was held Fri. Aug. 13, 2004 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2350 - 148th Street, Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief or BC Cancer Society.
WENDY (MYERS) BAKER
WENDY (MYERS) BAKER of Camrose passed away on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at the age of 57 years of age. She is survived by her parents Helen and Al Myers of Fairmont, B.C.; her sister and husband Sandy and Carl Krenning of Camrose; her daughter Crystal Baker of Abbotsford, B.C. and son Craig of Newmarket, Ont. Wendy was raised and attended school in Camrose. Wendy was a loving mother to her two children and was a gifted quilter, pianist and homemaker. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her prior to her M/S years. The family are very appreciative of the loving day to day care that the Bethany caregivers have shown Wendy over the last years. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the MS Society of Alberta, St. Mary’s Hospital CT Scan Fund or Bethany Nursing Home. At the request of the family a private memorial service and interment will be held.

Mr. Carl Nordin
NORDIN – Mr. Carl Nordin of Camrose passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish his memory are his children Dale of Edmonton and Conny of Vancouver. Carl was predeceased by his wife Martha in 1984 and his brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held on Sat. Aug. 21, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Hay Lakes with Rev. Craig Wentland officiating. Interment followed in Our Saviour Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Bethany Group (4612 - 53 St., Camrose, AB T4V 1Y6), Our Saviour Lutheran Church Building Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
