Mary Simon (nee Burke) of Cold Lake passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 2, 2004 at the age of 83. Left to celebrate her life are her husband: Fernand (Fred) of Cold Lake, AB; sister: Winona (Cecil) Ewing of Moosomin, SK; son: Robert (Nicole) Simon of Cold Lake, AB; daughter: Sherry-Anne (Tom) Cove of Cold Lake, AB; grandchildren: Tammy Cove, Christie (Melvin) Griffith, Jennifer Simon, and Sonya Simon; great-grandchildren: Todd, Drew, and Camden. Mary was predeceased by her parents Lawrence & Jessie Burke. Mary left her home in Glen Ewen, SK, to work in Regina, joining the R.C.A.F. as a communications clerk in 1942, meeting her lifes mate in R.C.A.F. Stn. Davidson, SK. They were transferred to R.C.A.F. Stn. Tofino, BC, and married in Vancouver, BC, 20 July 1945. Mary loved to travel and had many adventures in Canada and Europe. She enjoyed creating and while crocheting and knitting were hobbies she best loved to paint still life and landscapes in oil. Mary was happiest when spending time with her family and she had a tender heart and was always ready to welcome others into her life. All who knew and loved her will sadly miss her. The family sincerely thanks the Cold Lake Long Term Care staff for their dedicated care. A Memorial Service will be held at the Community Baptist Church, 5616-55 A St, Cold Lake, AB on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to sign a book of condolences at the memorial service. If friends so desire, contributions can be made to Long Term Care, c/o Cold Lake Health Centre, 314-25 St, Cold Lake, AB T9M 1G6 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1200-8215 112 St, NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 9Z9. ALEXIS CHARLAND
On Thursday, June 3, 2004 Mr. Alexis Charland of English Bay passed away at the age of 68 years. Alex is survived by his wife Elise Charland, children Christopher Charland, Daniel (Charmaine) Charland, Glen (Barb) Charland, Robyn Young, Larry (Bea) Charland and Ira (Doris) Charland, 10 grandchildren, sisters Lucy (Donald) Charland and Rita (Larry) Charland and brother Noel Charland. Alex was predeceased by two daughters, Maureen and veronica, and his parents Rosalie and Daniel Charland. Pallbearers were Glen, Larry, Ira and Lee Charland, Farron Andrew and Donald Francois. A visitation was held on Sunday and Monday, June 6 and 7, 2004 at Elise Charlands residence. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Dominics Parish, Cold Lake, AB with Father Guy Chapdelaine as the celebrant. Interment followed at the English bay Cemetery. Northern Lights Funeral Chapel Ltd. and funeral director Kelly Turzanski Serving Bonnyville, Cold Lake and Area were in care of funeral arrangements.
JANE AUDREY JOHNSON
On Monday, April 26, 2004 Jane Audrey Johnson of Bonnyville, Alberta, formerly of Cold Lake passed away at the age of 52 years. Jane is lovingly survived by two sons: Allan Gladue of Cold Lake, AB, Don Johnson (Tammy Guthrie) of Bonnyville, AB, two daughters: Anita (Charlie) Moosewah of Bonnyville, AB, Loretta Johnson (Bret Wolgien) of Cold Lake, AB; her mother: Emma Berland of Cold Lake, AB; four brothers: Richard (Valerie) Berland of Cold Lake, AB, Pat Berland of Cold Lake, AB, Clifford Berland of Fort Kent, AB, Peter Berland of Cold Lake, AB; sister: Florence (Wilf) Peters of Edmonton, AB; six grandchildren: Megan, Trisha, Maria, Elisha, Nicholas, Alexander; as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Jane was predeceased by her father: Maurice Berland in 1993. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Raphael Roman Catholic Church, Cold Lake First Nations, Cold Lake, Alberta with Father David Bernard as celebrant. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorial tributes in memory of Jane may be made to the Lupus Society of Alberta, Edmonton Chapter, #133, 6325-103 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T6H 5H6 or to the Benny Hinn Ministry. JOHN OMER GAGNON
On Friday, April 23, 2004 Mr. John Omer Gagnon of Cold Lake, AB passed away at the age of 82 years. John was a World War II Veteran who served in Europe and a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion. John is lovingly survived by his companion of 37 years: Lea Streifel of Cold Lake, AB; the mother of his children: Melinda Gagnon of Abbotsford, BC; his six children: Marilyn (Robin) Taylor of Prince George, BC, Joan Gagnon (Val Cartmel) of North Vancouver, BC, John (Lorraine) Gagnon of Sumas, BC, Mike (Angie) Gagnon of Maple Ridge, BC, Cathy (Jan) Stewart of Cold Lake, AB, Bev (Bob) Buell of Quesnel, BC; brother: Bob Gagnon of Chase, BC; three sisters: Rita (Luke) Clement of Calgary, AB, Stella Paradis of Calgary, AB, Suzanne Bouchard of Dorchester, PQ; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. John was predeceased by his parents: Joseph & Eva Gagnon; daughter: Priscilla Gagnon & sister: Theresa Kasian. A Service of Remembrance was held on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, Cold Lake, AB with Father Real Levasseur officiating. WILSON REED
On Friday, February 6, 2004 Mr. Wilson Reed of cold Lake passed away at the age of 84 years. Wilson is survived by his wife Mary Reed of Cold Lake, sons John (Nellie) Reed of Walton, Kansas and Jim (Anne-Marie) Reed of Chilliwack BC, one daughter Heather (Tony) Davis of Innisfail, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Wilson was predeceased by his parents Isabella and Edward Reed, two brothers and one sister. at Wilson's special request, there will be no memorial service. Northern Lights Funeral Chapel Ltd. On Wednesday, February 11, 2004 Mr. Stephan Kossey of Cold Lake, Alberta passed away at the age of 91 years. Stephan is lovingly survived by his three sons: Leo (Joan) of Ladysmith, BC, Tony (Judy) of Cold Lake, AB Larry of Chemainus, BC; two brothers: John (Mary) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Peter (Jenny) of St. Brides, AB; sister: Mary Dacyk of Edmonton, AB; five grandchildren: Shelly (Rob) Bjorgan of Whitecourt, AB, Patricia Kossey (Bruce Kaminski) of Edmonton, AB, Valerie (Bob) Fraser of Cold Lake, AB, Michael (JoAnne) Kossey of Nanaimo, BC, Brian Kossey (Karen Behiel) of Nanaimo, BC; seven great-grandchildren: Riley, Nairin, Emmett, Grady, Ayden, Breanna, Brandon. Stephan was predeceased by his wife: Dorothy on October 29, 1992; one brother and two sisters. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 211, Cold Lake, AB with Pastor Phil Crump officiating. Cremation followed. On Saturday, February 14, 2004 Mr. Allen Vernon Foulds of Cold Lake, Alberta passed away at the age of 74 years. Allen is lovingly survived by his wife: Rilla of Cold Lake, AB; two sons: Dewayne (Wendy) Foulds of Cold Lake, AB, Llewellyne Foulds of Cold Lake, AB; brother: Clifford (Vera) Foulds of Williams Lake, BC; three sisters: Ellen Wiebe of Abbotsford, BC, Lila (Jake) Wichert of Kindersley, SK, Eileen Chudley of Kamloops, BC; two grandchildren: Dustin & Kenton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Allen was predeceased by his parents: Horace & Ellen Foulds; five brothers: Alvin, Norval, Elwood, Dennis, William; sister: Elma Hitt; granddaughter: Candace Foulds. A Service of Remembrance was held on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Cold Lake, AB with Reverend David Lehmann officiating. Cremation has taken place.
