GERALD WILLIAM THOMPSON, beloved husband of Lauretta Thompson of Pincher Creek, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2003 at the age of 75 years. Gerald was born in Fort Macleod, Alberta on September 19, 1928. In 1948 he moved to Cochrane where he ranched before moving back to Fort Macleod. Gerald and Lauretta were married in 1968 and resided in Pincher Creek in 1971. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Lauretta; his step-children, who were a big part of his life: Joan (Brian) King of Nanaimo, B.C., Stan (Jean) McNab of Fort Macleod and Grant (Sharon) McNab of Pincher Creek; his grandchildren: Carmen, Richard, Bob and Gerry King, Bill and Jody McNab, Renae and Niki McNab and Lesley and David Marsh; his great-grandchild Joshua; his brother Alf (Pat) Thompson of Coleman and his sister Mae (Mel) Clingman of Oshawa, Ontario; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald was predeceased by his step-daughter Lorraine McNab in December 1997 and by his parents Thelma and Roy. Gerald was a very devoted husband and left his legacy of love, hard work and integrity to live on through his family. Gerald's love of the land led him to be a rancher, auctioneer and real estate broker. He succeeded in his life long pursuits making many friends along the way. Gerald will be sadly missed by all who he touched in life.....family and friends. A Celebration of Gerald's life was held at the Pincher Creek Community Hall on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brent Woodard and Rev. Joyce Sasse officiating. TAPAY, Mrs. Marcella
Mary Tapay, beloved mother of Allen Tapay of Fir-grove, AB and Carolyn Megli of Penticton, BC passed away suddenly at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre on Monday, December 29, 2003 at the age of 69 years. Marcella was born on November 27, 1934 to Alexander and Theresa Klemak in Michel, British Columbia. She met a kind, wonderful man, Emil Michael Tapay and were united in matrimony on October 15, 1960. Soon after they were married they moved to the family ranch in Burmis; together they raised their family with love and devotion. In 2001, Marcella moved from the family ranch to Hillcrest where she resided until her passing. Marcella was a kind, loving mother and grandmother who always was there for her family. She loved visiting with all of her family and her friends. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary. In her spare time, Marcella loved to spend time playing a good game of cards and dancing. Marcella will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her lifetime include her son, Allen (Teri) Tapay and family of Firgrove, Alberta; her daughter, Carolyn (Gary) Megli of Penticton, BC; her grandchildren, Amanda and Clinton; her brother, George Klemak of Sparwood, BC; her sister, Margaret (Bruno) Bevilacqua of Sparwood, BC; her brother-in-law, Godfrey Hungar of Bellevue, numerous nieces and nephews and the many friends that she made throughout her lifetime. Marcella was predeceased by her loving husband, Emil Tapay on January 21, 1992; her father, Alexander on May 28, 1962 and her mother, Theresa on August 4, 1990. A funeral mass was held at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Blairmore, on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Vincent Tuan Ha officiating. Interment followed in the Blairmore Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Barney Reners, Bruno Yagos, Terry Yagos, Marcel Brazzoni, Alvin Ondrik and John Reners. Honorary Pallbearers were, Godfrey Hungar, Ed Malmberg, Mike Dziedzic, Ernie Neimor, Harvey Megli, Stan Humphrey, Alex Yagos and Bruno Bevilacqua. JENSEN, MARION BEATRICE
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our loved one, Marion Beatrice Jensen on October 12, 2003. Marion was born on August 12, 1930. She was born and raised in Taber, Alberta. On February 3, 1949 Marion and Ross Jensen were married. In 1958 they moved from Taber to their farm on Rock Creek Road near Lundbreck where they raised their four children. Marion’s greatest love was her family, her animals, and her special knack of making all plants grow. She also loved the outdoors and her life on the farm. Marion leaves behind, Ross, her loving husband of 54 years; her children Doug (Joan), David, Danny (Donna), and Nancy (Carmen) Rinke; her nine grandchildren Vicki (Glen) Smyth, Cindy (Mike) Smith, Sherry (Robert Hansen-Beaton), Tammy (Shawn Darragh), Bev (Mike) Parker, James (Amanda Amero), Dayna (Kevin) Rogalsky, Colter (Heather) Rinke, Jared Rinke (Jennifer Headrick); and one great-grandson Taylor Jensen; her sister Betty Gilbert, a nephew (Darry) and a niece (Darcy). Marion was predeceased by her parents Walter Ray and Mary Elizabeth Myers; and also her grandson Andy Jensen and his family Shelley, Allan and Amanda. Marion is dearly loved and will be missed by all. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Pincher Funeral Chapel, 1101 Main Street East, Pincher Creek with interment at Fairview Cemetery. Diamond
Mr. Charles Roger Diamond of Cowley, Alberta passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord, on Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the Pincher Creek Hospital at the age of 57 years. Charlie, as he was better known, was born on August 28, 1946 to Joseph and Denise Diamond of Cowley. It is of no small wonder that Charlie chose to remain in Cowley; he enjoyed the majestic beauty and loving friendship of this small community. He was no stranger to a hard days work; throughout his lifetime he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with various construction companies. Charlie was a kind, thoughtful and considerate man. He never hesitated to help others who were in need. He was an active member of AA and was a talented guitarist who enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Although Charlie, is now gone to be with the Lord, he will forever remain in our hearts. Left to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life are his two daughters, Fay (Bert) Hagel of Forestburg, Alberta and Brigitte (D’Arcy) St. Onge of Calgary, Alberta; his four grandchildren, Ashley, Travis, Justin and Christian; his brothers, Joseph (LaVonne) Diamond of Lundbreck, Alberta and George (Betty) Diamond of Pincher Creek, Alberta; his sisters, Cecile Murphy of Blairmore, Alberta, Alice Matheson of Cowley, Alberta, Teri (Wilfred) Lencucha of Lethbridge, Alberta, Rita (Rick) Filanti of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Dolores Diamond and Simone Diamond both of Calgary, Alberta; numerous nieces and nephews and the many friends that he made throughout his lifetime. Charlie was predeceased by his father, Joseph in 1964; his mother, Denise in 1985 and his sisters, Babs Diamond in 1939 and Jeanne Pinneo in 1992. The funeral mass was held on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Pincher Creek at 11 a.m. with Father Eric Nelson as celebrant. Interment followed in the Cowley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alec Ceh, Ivan Filanti, Tim Filanti, Garry Hackler, Craig Lencucha and Marlin Murphy. Honorary Pallbearers were George Diamond, Joseph Diamond, Ted Diamond, Tom Diamond, Pat Dwyer, Dale Johnson, Glen Kenealey and Fred Seversen. McCULLOCH
JESSIE McCULLOCH, beloved wife of the late John McCulloch of Lundbreck, Alberta, passed away at Blairmore on Friday, September 19, 2003 at the age of 85 years. Jessie was born at Passburg, Crowsnest Pass on March 12, 1918 and spent her younger years at Burmis. She met and married John McCulloch in 1940. They moved to the Lundbreck area, where she spent the remainder of her life on the farm with her companions Snoopy, Black and her cats. Jessie served as Post Mistress of the Lundbreck Post Office for nine years, was Secretary Treasurer of the Blairmore Senior Citizens Club, enjoyed Bingo and driving her car to visit friends. Jessie is survived by her two sons: Don (Wendy) McCulloch of Kelowna, B.C. and Ron (Corinne) McCulloch of Lundbreck; her two daughters: Bonnie (Wayne) Oviatt of Calgary and Brenda (Flemming) Andersen of the Crowsnest Pass; her 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1981, her daughter Gertrude Alice in 1941 her son John in 2001, her grandson Dean in 1995 and a good friend Keats. A Funeral Service was held at the Pincher Creek United Church on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brent Woodard officiating. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
