HOCHSTEIN - MARCEL J. HOCHSTEIN, born April 16, 1906 and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2000. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Pearl of 65 years and four sons Edwin (Pat), Delmore (Merna), Lester (Doris) and Patrick (Lois). His 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren will remember him for his gentleness and love. Also left to mourn are his sisters Evelyn Hergott of Bow Island and Blanche Bonertz of Pincher Creek, three sisters-in-law Toots Hochstein and Louise Jack of Pincher Creek and Helen Hochstein of Connecticut and one brother-in-law Fred Higginbotham of Pincher Creek. Marcel was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and past president of the Pincher Creek Co-op, Community Auction, REA and Reeve of the M.D. of Pincher Creek. He was instrumental in bringing the first Health Society to Pincher Creek and was involved in the 4-H Club. He helped reorganize the Fair Board and was also a member of the Lions Club and president of Foothills Telephone. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters Irene, Josie and Lucille and two brothers Cyril and Francis. The funeral mass was celebrated at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Pincher Creek on Monday, May 22, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. with Celebrant Father Jack Pereira. Cremation to follow. JONES - RITA CECILIA - In Loving Memory of Rita Cecilia Jones, born April 5, 1936 in Pincher Creek, Alberta. Passed away May 16, 2000 in Golden & District Hospital. Rita was predeceased by her parents and two siblings. She is survived by devoted husband of 43 years, Luther Jones of Golden, BC, her daughters Louise (Eugene), Lisa, Lorraine (Ivan), and Linda, her son Luther (Suzanne) and 19 grandchildren
Norma Bessie HarmonRINGSTAD - NORMA BESSIE (nee Harmon) - Norma Bessie Harmon was born in Consort, Alberta on April 27, 1915 and she passed away on May 17, 2000 at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Leonard Ringstad; by her sisters Florence Dunn, Celeste Riva, Nellie Bowersock and also by her brothers Orville and Harvey Harmon. She is survived by one sister, Opal Hubman. She was the dear mother of Opal Thompson and Rayleen Kinzell. Dear grandmother of Celeste, Greg, Brian, Mark and great grandmother to Daniel, T.J., Jayden, Joey, Amanda and Jasmine. Aunt and great aunt to many. All will miss her greatly. The funeral service was held at the Pincher Creek United Church on Monday, May 22, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Joyce Sasse officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Wuetherick - Kevin R. born October 12, 1973 passed away suddenly and tragically May 16th, 2000. Beloved son of Richard Wuetherick and (Donna McKay). Violet Carney
CARNEY, VIOLET - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Carney who passed away suddenly on August 22, 2000 in the Red Deer Hospital. Violet, or, Granny Carney, as she was known to her many grandchildren and their friends, was 89 and had spent 10 1/2 years living with Clara and Leo and the last 3 1/2 years living at the Sylvan Lake Lodge. Violet, born in Frank, Alberta April 13, 1911, was married to Harry E. Carney, a show attendant, on June 23, 1930 in the Pincher Creek United Church. Violet and Harry lived on the family farm, which was originally homesteaded by John Carney Sr., for 37 years and raised a family of their own. Upon retiring, they bought a house in Bellevue. Harry passed away on July 5, 1967. Granny leaves behind her daughter Joan and her children Danny and Timothy and her daughter Clara and her four children: Regena (Dan) and their daughter Katlyn, Patrick and his sons Kyle and Braden, Jerry and his sons Jeffrey and Stuart and also Clara's son Steven. Granny is also predeceased by Patrick's son Koel who died at the age of 22 months. She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends alike. Violet enjoyed visiting with and meeting new people and had made some lasting friendships in the Sylvan Lake Lodge. A private family service was held in Cowley on September 4, 2000 and Violet was laid down beside her beloved Harry on that date.
WILLIAM "BILL" WALKER
WALKER - WILLIAM "BILL" WALKER passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 30, 2000 at the age of 74 years. Bill is survived and missed by his loving family.
