PARKIN
ELIZABETH (BETTY) ANN PARKIN, beloved wife of George Parkin, passed away at Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the age of 64 years. Betty was born on August 3, 1941 at Pincher Creek, Alberta to Margaret and Reginald Cain. She grew up in Pincher Creek and she was educated at St. Michael’s School. Betty continued her education at Business College in Calgary and then returned home to work at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She married George Parkin on May 20, 1961 and raised three children. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Catholic Women’s League. Many students from St. Michael’s will remember her smiling face from Grade 6 camp. In the past few years she was a driving force behind the Children of the Wind Kite Festival, spending most of her time in the kid’s tent. Her helping hands will be missed by the entire community, but most of all by her friends and family. Betty loved to travel, filling her life with new experiences, new friends and new country. He suffered from a chronic lung disorder (COPD) for several years, but remained in his home until the day of his death. Robert was born in Canora, Saskatchewan on October 21, 1913. He moved with his parents and older sisters from Norqway, Saskatchewan to Stettler in 1919. Bob, as he was known to friends, led a very interesting life. In 1988, they moved back to Stettler. After Maxine’s passing in 1991, Rob remained in their home until his death. Robert was predeceased by his wife Maxine in 1991, his father Thomas in 1954, mother Eva in 1951, sister Norma in 1935 at the age of seven and daughter-in-law Mary-Rose Lee in 2001.
