BLAYNEY, ROBERT “MARK”
1956 - 2006
Robert "Mark" Blayney of Calgary passed away on Friday, March 17, 2006 at the age of 49 years. Mark was born on October 13, 1956 in the University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton, AB. At five weeks old, Mark and his mother flew to Port of Spain, Trinidad, B.W.I. to join his father Alan, sister Debra and brother Douglas. Three years later, his brother Bill was born. Mark attended British private schools in Port of Spain. After graduation as a Wildlife Technician from Lethbridge Community College, he worked in Fish Creek Provincial Park raising and releasing young falcons. Mark built release cages for the raptors on the cliff side of Fish Creek, where the birds would be fed until they fledged. He loved to camp and fish with his family. He also enjoyed listening to classic rock and classical music. Mark is survived by his parents Alan and Jean; and his brothers, Douglas and Bill. He was predeceased by his sister Debra and her twin Donald. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2. In living memory of Mark Blayney, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 Bannister Road S.E. Calgary, AB T2X 3J3

NEIL ERNEST HAUG
December 29, 1925- March 18, 2005
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of ERNIE HAUG. He leaves to mourn him, his beloved wife and soul mate of almost 56 years, Maxine; his children: Mary Anne (Wes Reid), Ernest Jr. "Buster", Debbie (Ron Lazarick) and Blaine (Sheila Provost); seven granddaughters, four great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Ernie married Maxine Higbee on March 31, 1949 in Waterton Park. He was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors, but who wouldn't be when you grew up and spent most of your life in Waterton Lakes National Park. Ernie was a member of the Lions Club for 45 years and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a businessman in his early years and co-owned and operated the International Service Station and the Bridge Cabins in Waterton Park. He was employed with Parks Canada for 32 1/2 years, retiring to Pincher Creek in December of 1989. A Celebration of Ernie's Life was held at the Pincher Creek Legion Branch #46 on Saturday, March 26, 2005 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ernie's memory to the Lions Care Shuttle, Box 1713, Pincher Creek, AB, T0K 1W0

JOAN LESLIE BEST (NEE SCHOENING)
1947-2005
Joan passed away peacefully in Pincher Creek on January 2, 2005 following a short illness. Joan was born October 12, 1947 and lived and worked all her life in Pincher Creek. Her family continues to live here. Joan loved to swim the furthest, ride horses the fastest and playing outdoors in the winter. Joan was always a friend to everyone she met and she welcomed all into her home. Joan is survived by her husband of 18 years, Edward Best; her son Wade Lunn and her daughter Tracey (husband Darcy) Fisher, and her beloved granddaughter Lauren. Joan comes from a large family: her parents Gordon and Bessie Schoening; sisters: Karen Smith and family, Lorna (Dan) Narkaus and family, Sara (George) Ehret and family and one brother, Fred (Deirdre) and their family, all of whom will miss her greatly. She also leaves many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Joan has gone to be with Johanne Schoening, her Granny who loved her so much. A Memorial Service was held at Eden’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 with Pastor Richard Williams officiating.

DR. R. B. "BOB" BURGMAN
Robert Burnett Burgman passed away peacefully on December 23, 2004 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre at the age of 89 years. Bob was born November 28, 1915 in Melville, Saskatchewan to Albert and Ina Burgman. He graduated in Dentistry from the University of Toronto in 1942 and enlisted in the Canadian Army in the Dental Corps, stationed in Claresholm, Alberta and Aldershot, England. He married Jean Cruickshank, who was born in Hillcrest, in 1943, and after the War, moved to Blairmore in 1945 to begin practicing Dentistry, which he did for 45 years. Bob was active in the Masonic Lodge (he was recently honored by the Masons when he received his 50 year membership jewel), the Shriners, the Elks Lodge, the Canadian Legion, the United Church, the Alberta Dental Association, and was a lifetime member of both the Crowsnest Pass Golf Club and the Crowsnest Pass Ski Club. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He was predeceased by Jean, his wife of 52 years, in 1995, and his brother George in 2004. Bob is survived by his twin brother Bill of Cambridge, Ontario, his sons Dick (Susan) of Blairmore, Ted of Calgary, his friend and companion Kay Kerr of Blairmore, six grandchildren, Michelle (Chris) Birch of Blackie, Alberta, Christopher (Sybille) of Davos, Switzerland, Suzanne and Blair of Calgary, Jenna of Lethbridge and Jon of Blairmore, and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Tyrel of Blackie. By his request, there will be no funeral service, however a Memorial Service will be held on January 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crowsnest Centre in Blairmore. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation Box 455, Blairmore, T0K 0E0 or Crowsnest Pass Ski Hill Society, Blairmore, T0K 0E0. Arrangements entrusted to Pincher Funeral Chapel.

SPRLAK
Thomas Joseph Sprlak passed away peacefully at the Crowsnest Pass Hospital on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the age of 77 years. Tom was born in Fernie and moved to Blairmore in 1942. He worked as a truck driver and heavy machine operator until his retirement. On August 27, 1949 Tom married Myrtle Poch and they spent the next 52 years sharing their lives together. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed his horses and fine rifles, and short holidays with his beloved Myrtle. Tom is survived by his sons Keith (Susan), Terry, and Dale (Nancy) all of Crowsnest Pass, one brother Joseph (Sid) of Claresholm, and his grandchildren Ryan, Sherrie, Shane (Jessie) Amy and Brittany, and great-grandchildren Chase, Taylor and Phoenix. He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle (September 2001), his parents Joseph and Ann Sprlak, one brother and two sisters. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation, Box 455, Blairmore T0K 0E0. Special thanks to the doctors and all the health care workers at the Crowsnest Pass Hospital. At Tom’s request, there will be no service. Arrangements entrusted to Pincher Funeral Chapel.
