Mary Myers
MYERS, Mary - June 6, 1926 - May 25, 2017 With broken hearts, but with endless gratitude for her life, the family of Mary Annie Myers announces her passing on May 25th, just days before her 91st birthday. Surrounded by her children, Jeanne Reynolds (Norman) of Florence, Massachusetts, Donna Myers of Edmonton, Wayne Myers (Marie) of Sherwood Park, and Lois Gordon (Skip) of Bremner, she passed away peacefully in her own home, where she still lived independently. Mom was born in Bellevue, Alberta in 1926. She married Elmer Myers in 1941, and moved to a dairy farm at Bremner in 1948. There Mom farmed alongside her husband and later her son until her retirement in her early 70’s. As a farmer’s wife Mom had many responsibilities. On top of her household chores, she also raised chickens, turkeys, geese, and ducks; grew huge garden of vegetables; sold eggs; took her turn on the swather and combine; and was an active member of the local chapter of the Farm Women of Alberta. She also found time to knit, sew, crochet, cross-stitch, and landscape. She could handle a miter saw or a sewing machine with equal ease. Her skills as a grandmother were unmatched. Mom’s travels took her to Germany and across much of the United States. She journeyed as far north as Tuktoyaktuk, and as far east as the Maritimes. But the ultimate freedom get-aways for Mom and her friends were spontaneous road trips. In addition to her four children, Mom is survived by one brother, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her dear friends, Eunice Atmore and Dorothy Lorencz. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer, her baby daughter, Mary, and three brothers. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Mom lived a rich and full life and was much loved. The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional care and support provided by Dr. Annette Begalke and Nurse Bonnie Lavigne.
