Annette Brooks, resident of Grande Prairie, AB passed away at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie at the age of 75. She was the third of 12 children born to Jean and Anna Normandeau of Terrace, B.C. She enjoyed reading, helping her mother and spending time with the many Aunts, Uncles and cousins who lived nearby. Annette worked as a telephone operator in Terrace, and a cook’s helper at the hospital in Smither's before settling down to raise her own family. She married Glen Brooks in 1955 and while living in Terrace they had 3 children. The family moved to Sunset House, AB in 1965 where they began homesteading and had one more child. She spent a couple of summers as a camp cook while Glen worked nearby in the oilfield building roads and leases. In 1991 they sold the farm and moved into Valleyview where she became a Day Home Provider. Annette had a big heart and a love for children, this was the job she cherished. She became known as “Grandma Net” to the many children that passed through her doors and each child held a special place in her heart. After Glen passed away, she moved back to Terrace for 4 years, before return to Alberta and settling in Grande Prairie near her own children. Annette was a friend to all and loved by the many people with whom she crossed paths with.
She was predeceased by her daughter Tammy, husband Glen, son Dale, her parents, brother Peter and sister Marie.
She leaves behind daughters Carol, Lisa (Dave), grandchildren Conrad, Chauncey and Eric. As well as siblings Yvonne, Florence, RoseMarie, George, Art, Agnes, Lynne, Louise, Gerry and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
As per Annette’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, her ashes will be laid to rest on the family plot in Valleyview during the spring or summer. The family may organize a memorial at a later date.

Safronovich, Donna Jean
On Wednesday November 5, 2003 Mrs. Donna Safronovich of Buck Creek, Alberta passed away at the age of 66 years.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband Joe, after 49 years of marriage. One son Wayne (Joanne) of Buck Creek; two daughters, Kathy and husband Leonard LaBonte, of Ft. Nelson, B.C.; Karen and Brian MacDonald of P.E.I.; seven grandchildren and great grandson Steven; three sisters, Lorena Wagner, Drayton Valley; Ruth and husband Mike Raymond, Eckville; Teresa and Art Boschman of Grande Prairie; numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was predeceased by her brother Russel Simpson.
Funeral services were held in the Buck Creek Community Hall on Saturday November 8, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Phyllis Greenslade officiating and interment in Buck Creek community cemetery.

Daniel Joseph Roch Emond
EMOND, Daniel Joseph Roch - It is with great sadness we announce that Daniel Joseph Roch Emond’s sudden passing on June 4, 2017. He was born June 27, 1957 and raised in Price Quebec with the beautiful St Lawrence seaway in his backyard. He resided in Alberta for many decades and worked for Local Union 8. He enjoyed his friends, music, computers, photography and literature, especially humor and satire. He was predeceased by his father Roch Emond, and nephew Maxime Dufour. He leaves his two sons Justin and Nicholas, instilled with his love of music, humor and kindness. He also leaves his mom Simone Landry in Price Quebec, his sister Sylvie (Renaud Dufour), their children and grandchildren; Stephanie (Alexandre) Ely-Rose, Lea Kim. Roxanne (Simon) and Liam. His sister Louise and her children Michael and Jean Sebastian. Keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and an informal memorial will happen at a future date. His parting words had he been able to chose would most certainly have been George Carlin quotes. Remember him to that end. Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it. ~George Carlin
Walter Anthony Obniawka
(December 9, 1930 - January 16, 2012)
Walter Obniawka passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie at 81 years of age.
He was born in Sexsmith, Alberta on December 9, 1930. He grew up and very much enjoyed farming in the Sexsmith area. His wife Natalie and Walter enjoyed planting trees. He had a passion for life, his farm, his family, and baseball.
He lead a simple life and was always positive and appreciative. He was proud to be from Sexsmith.
Walter’s request was to be buried with his wife and son in the Grande Prairie Cemetery in spring 2012. There will be no service at this time.
The nurses on 3 North at the QEII Hospital were very attentive and supportive with the quality care given during Walter’s time in the hospital.

Tikaila Michelle Erika Hollowell
(January 14, 2012 - January 14, 2012)
On Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 3:21am, Baby Tikaila was born at the QEII Hospital.
Even though our precious child never lived, she will be forever loved by her parents Havilland Hollowell and Jason Philpott.
She is survived by her maternal grandmother Frances Makela and grandfather Terry Hollowell; her paternal grandparents Mike and Christine Philpott; her uncles: Tristan and Tremaine Makela; Hayden and Terris Hollowell, and auntie Samantha Woods.
