A Memorial Service for Les (Lefty) Pliska will take place on Saturday, December 19th, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Foothills Memorial Chapel, Edson, Alberta with Worship Leader Kimberly Roy officiating. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be directed to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Suite 1010, Royal Bank Building, 10117 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 1W8, in memory of Les (Lefty) Pliska.

Frances Bernice Gibson, of Hanna
Frances Bernice Gibson, affectionately known as "Aunt", died March 5, 2005 with family at her side at Sarcee Hospice in Calgary.
Frances was born to Handhills pioneers Fred and Bendina Gibson February 14, 1917. She will always be remembered for her love of cooking, bingo, travel, animals and being with family and friends. She had been an avid bowler, winning many trophies.
She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Looy and Ruby Wylie, her brother Hughie Gibson and neice Sandra Vincent. Frances is survived by neices and nephews-Bendina Miller (Gerry), Marie Rowe (Bill Cookshaw), Richard Looy (Claudia), Bob Wylie (Elena ), Pam Watters (Tracey), Marilyn Adams (Paul Taylor). Lynn Savenye (Frank) and, Lyle Gibson (Anne-Marie). Her great neices and nephews are Lisa Marlin, Danielle Thornton, Judy Penner(Charles), Mark Wylie (Jasmine), Todd Adams, Steven Dobson (Danielle), Cathy Dobson, Joelle Gibson, Taylor Gibson, Germaine Miese-Looy, Cindy Vincent, Cory Watters and Brett Watters. She thoroughly enjoyed her one great-great nephew Jack Marlin.
The family would like to thank her many friends for being her family when we couldn't be there. Our heartfelt thanks and everlasting gratitude go to Dr David Falk and the staff of Carewest Sarcee Unit 1 and hospice for their loving compassionate care of Aunt over the last ten months. She was a member of the Alberta Pioneer Association, Senior's Circle, U.C.W. and the Handhill's Ladies Aid.
Funeral Service to be held at Hanna United Church 11:00 A.M., March 12, 2005 with Reverend Doctor Clarence Sellars officiating. No flowers by request. Donations to Hanna Senior's Circle which provided Frances with many enjoyable hours (519 – 3 Avenue West, Hanna, Alberta, T0J 1P0).

Kendel Sunico Tang
May 23, 1939 - September 19, 2012
Dr. Kendel Sunico Tang left this earth peacefully on September 19, 2012, at the age of 73, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease.
Kendel was born in Bacolod City, Philippines; the eldest of 5 siblings. He earned his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City and pursued graduate studies in the United States at Michigan, New York, and Harvard. In 1970, Kendel completed his doctorate in Educational Psychology at the University of Hawaii. He served as the youngest principal at Cebu American School, and as a department chairman and professor at De La Salle University in Manila. Ken started his Canadian career teaching at Alberta Vocational College (NorQuest College) in Grouard, Alberta. Kendel was a lifetime member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta, and provided counseling services throughout northern Alberta.
In 1988, Ken accepted a Psychology Instructor position at Grande Prairie Regional College and retired in 2006 as an Instructor Emeritus. As a proponent of lifelong education, after retirement Ken achieved a Certified Immigration Consultant designation via Humber College.
Kendel married Virginia Berenato on January 6, 1975 and they emigrated to High Prairie, Alberta, Canada where their two children, Kevin and Karen, were born. In High Prairie, Ken was active in the Lions Club and St. Paul’s Parish, embracing Canadian culture to its fullest, while still staying proud of his Filipino roots and supporting his extended family overseas. In Grande Prairie, Ken held leadership roles in both the Filipino and multicultural associations. The Tang home was a welcome haven for many newcomers to Canada.
Kendel coached and competed in amateur athletics at regional and provincial levels in table tennis and running, and also enjoyed basketball, tennis, and hiking. He had a strong faith life and was active in the church. Ken loved nature, animals (especially his dogs King and Prince), music, movies, and traveling to visit friends and family.
Kendel is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Virginia; son Kevin (Christy Cheremshynski), daughter Karen Christian (Nicholas), grandson Gavin Kennedy Christian, sister Kelly Esporas, nephew Conrad Dupaya, niece Arlene Failma (Corey Rikkers), half-brother Arsenio, other family members in the Philippines and Canada, and many close friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Kwong and Florita, mother-in-law Lina Failma, half-brother Alejandro and half-sister Arsenia.
A prayer service will be held for Kendel on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 7:00pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 1:00pm at St. Joseph’s Church with interment to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Kendel’s name may be made to Grande Prairie Home Care Services. Donations will also be accepted towards a scholarship fund being established in Kendel’s memory.
The Tang family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Dr. Richard Martin, Dr.Claudia Strehlke, Dr. Marie Moreau, Alberta Home Care and the staff at the QEII, Sturgeon Community, and the University of Alberta Hospitals for their care, compassion and understanding. We love you Kendel.
PALAZZO, Concetta Maria
On September 21, 2011, Mrs. Concetta Maria Palazzo of Edmonton passed away at the age of 85 years.
Concetta is survived by three sons, Antonio Palazzo, Angelo (Silvana) and Luigi (Sandra); six grandchildren, Amedeo (Teresa), Giancarlo (Ciara), Maria-Anna, Mario, Marco and Daniela; two great-grandchildren, Luca and Antonio; one brother, Luigi (Teresa) Talarico; one sister, Gina (Antonio) Talarico; sister-in-law, Rosetta Talarico; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in Canada and Italy. Predeceased by loving husband, Amedeo; daughter-in-law, Maria; sister, Adelaida and brother, Raffaele.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church. Reverend Stefano Penna officiating with Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum. MAH, Kelly
October 15, 1968 - September 19, 2011
"But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God, and does not come from us" - 2 Cor. 4.7
Kelly Mah died on September 19, 2011 following a heroic twenty month battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her daughter Audrey, her husband Rick Stroppel, her mother Cooey Mah, and her brother Wayne Mah. She was predeceased by her father Jim Mah.
The Mah and Stroppel families wish to extend thanks to all of the friends, relatives and colleagues who have helped us during these difficult times. Thanks also to the doctors, nurses and other staff at the Misericordia Hospital, The Grey Nuns Hospital, and the Cross Cancer Institute, especially Dr. Katia Tonkin. We also wish to thank Mr. Gene Zwozdesky for his support.
There will be a Prayer Service at the Connelly- McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, on Thursday, September 22 at 8:30 p.m.
There will be a Funeral Mass, followed by a short reception, at St. Alphonsus Church, 11825 - 85 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, on Friday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m.
