Ross Huebner
Date: January 6th, 2010
It is with deep sadness, yet profound joy that we release our dear brother and son into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ross Huebner, formerly of Fort McMurray passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the age of 52 surrounded by his family.
Those left to treasure his memory are his mom, Irene Huebner; brother, Randy (Claudie) Huebner of Edmonton; two sisters, Wendy (Dan) Pope of Brandon, MB and Pam (Gordie) Brodie of Rosalind. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his dad Bernard in 1989.
Ross was born on June 23, 1957 and raised in Camrose. He attended and completed his schooling in Camrose and graduated with honors at the Camrose Composite High School. Upon graduation he attended NAIT and received his diploma in Survey Technology. He and his former wife (Coleen West) moved to Fort McMurray where they lived and worked for over 20 years.
Throughout Ross's life he was an avid reader and a life long learner. His love of books began at an early age where he would spend hours savoring the books at the "old" library on main. He taught himself computer programming, CAD, helped to create and develop a database and GPS system for surveying at Syncrude. He worked his way to become the Senior Systems Technologist. As a result of his contributions, his name was published in one of Syncrude's books.
Ross had many varied interests that remained with him throughout his life. He began lifting weights at 18, he designed and constructed an amazing yard in Fort McMurray, he had a love for astronomy, a vast and eclectic genre of music and books, he loved to ride his "Fat Boy" Harley Davidson, and his ongoing project to build his chopper. He was a great and creative chef and of course, not to mention his lifelong love for his precious cats.
Ross will be remembered for his gentle but quiet spirit; his love for nature, the environment and the simple things that life affords. His sharp wit and keen sense of humor and his concern for others remained with him even during his last days.
His greatest and momentous eternal journey began when he received Jesus Christ as his Savior and was surrounded by peace that surpasses our understanding.
A Celebration of his life will take place at 2:00, Friday, March 26, 2010 at Calvary Pentecostal Church, 4820 - 64 St., Camrose. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
