Raymond Kenneth Peers was tragically taken from us April 8th at the age of 57 years. Ray was born to Ken and Velma Peers at Empress on July 7, 1947. He took his schooling at Acadia Valley and basically lived his whole life in "the Valley." He was blessed with two children, Jessica and Kenny; they were his life...
In his early years after he left school at age 16, he worked for the CNR for a short time, then moved to Cereal taking a job with Cereal Motors for awhile. Then he moved back to "the Valley" where he did various jobs before making the big move to the city of Calgary. In 1974 he moved back to Acadia Valley with his brother Gary and brother-in-law, Don Swanston. They became the new owners of Acadia Valley Farm Supplies. Gary and Don went on to other occupations and brother Dale joined Ray in the garage in 1976. After a few years Ray moved to Rossburn, Manitoba to try his hand at storekeeping, and then to Medicine Hat to do pipeline work. He always migrated back to "the Valley", Acadia Valley was his life... In the latter years with his medical disabilities, he still loved to be useful and looked forward to helping friends on the farm when spring arrived and again when harvest rolled around. He kept himself very busy with odd jobs and being there for his brother, Dale at the garage. He would make many trips to Medicine Hat for supplies and parts on a regular basis plus travel anywhere Dale needed him to go, whether it being picking up parts or towing vehicles. He could always be depended on at any time... He also helped many community members when a hand was needed and he was very involved when jobs were done by the Rec. Club. Ray was very helpful to his parents taking them for appointments or just getting them to "the Hat" to shop. He helped them with household jobs as well as maintaining their vehicle. His presence in the family and in the community will truly be missed...
Ray is survived by his daughter Jessica and son Kenny along with Kenny's special friend Cassie; his parents Ken and Velma Peers; all of his siblings: Bev (Don) Swanston, Gary (Diane), Sandra (Ken) Downes of Vernon, British Columbia, Ina (Len) Hains of Cereal and Dale; eight nieces and nephews Shannon (Gene) Hauck, Brett (Marilyn) Swanston, Lindsey Peers, Jamie (Martin) Hogan, Jocelyn Downes, Carla Downes, Sheldon Hains, Kyle Hains; six great nieces and nephews Hailey and Garrett Hauck, Jake, Gus and Cambell Swanston and Samantha Hogan; and step-daughter Amber with her daughters Brooklyn and Bree-Ellen.
Ray was predeceased by his grandparents Warren and Lizzie Peers, John and Eliza Phillips; uncles Bill, Fred, Roy and Bert Peers, Grant Law, Leslie and Albert Phillips; aunts Irene and Evelyn Peers, Lena Malone, Clara Coles and Annie Banks; cousins Wayne and Keith Peers.
