After a two year battle with cancer, Cecil Hoobonoff passed away on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Foothills Medical Centre at the age of 74 years. He was predeceased by his father Peter, his mother Dora and a sister-in-law Helen. He is survived by his brother John, a nephew, two nieces, and their children. Grateful thanks to Jeff and Julia Wallace and family for their care and support. A Private Family Gathering will be held. Robert Joseph Letourneau, beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday August 28, 2006 at the age of 72. Bob was born in Edam, Saskatchewan and raised in Gleichen Alberta. In 1952 Bob met the love of his life, Evelyn Campbell, who he married in 1953. Together they raised 4 children in Calgary. Bob loved competition, especially when it involved golf, curling, pool, Whist, Texas Hold’em and watching sports. Bob was a long time member of the Forest Lawn Legion. Most of all, Bob was a quiet and caring man who loved his family. He is predeceased by his wife Evelyn, 7 siblings and his great granddaughter Kolby. Bob is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his 4 children, Mike (Laura), Sheryl (Allan), Robert Jr. (Susan) and Lindy (Brad), 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters Denise and Cecile, brother Art, numerous nieces and nephews and members of the Campbell family. PARSONS - Robert William “Bill” beloved husband of Nina of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on August 26, 2006 at the age of 67 years. Adina Kinred was born February 21, 1928 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on August 26, 2006 at the age of 78 years. Adina will be lovingly remembered by: her children, Sharon Carlson, Brian (Carolyn) Kinred, Dawn (Hal) Jones; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and by her sisters Eva, Helen and Kathleen and brothers Bill and John. Adina was predeceased by her husband Sid in 1983. LUCAS - James William “Bill”, beloved husband of Mrs. Opal Lucas of High River, passed away in Invermere, BC on August 26, 2006, at the age of 83 years. Bill will be lovingly remembered by: his children, Wayne (Judy) Lucas of Claresholm and Marlane (Don) Valentine of Claresholm; grandchildren, Marla (Maury) McLeod of Claresholm, Brett Lucas of Claresholm, Flint Lucas of Claresholm, Rustin Lucas of Claresholm, Dale Valentine of High River and Paige Valentine of Airdrie as well as 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Larry Lee Lucas. Bill was born and raised in Vulcan, AB. He met and married Opal Deal where they farmed in the area until 1975. Bill & Opal went to Claresholm and ranched until they retired to High River in 1993 onto a quarter section. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held in the Arbor Lounge of Mountain View Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. If so desired, a memorial tribute may be made in Bill’s name directly to a charity of one’s choice. Mr. Alan "Jim" Sutherland

SUTHERLAND – Alan “Jim”, beloved husband of Gladys Sutherland of Calgary, passed away at the Chinook Care Centre on Monday, August 28, 2006 at the age of 94 years. Jim was born in Calgary on February 16, 1912 and grew up on a farm near Shepard, Alberta. He trained as a mechanic and worked for Canadian Pacific Airlines and Gateway Aviation. He was never happier than when he was building or repairing something and used his skills to build his first home, four travel trailers, dollhouses for his daughters, and playhouses and toy boxes for his granddaughters. He was always willing to help his many friends keep their cars in good repair. He also loved to square dance, golf and play cards. For over forty-five years he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2098 and the Alberta Oddfellows Crescent Lodge #81, and volunteered for many years screening elementary school children’s eyes for the Oddfellows. Over the years he toured throughout Canada and the United States, including three trips across the continent. He also visited England and Europe and in recent years enjoyed numerous trips to Disneyland where he went on all of the rides with his grandchildren. Besides his loving wife, Gladys of 56 years, he is also survived by his daughters, Janice Sutherland of Edmonton and Eva-Lynn Probert (Neil) of Calgary, his four adoring granddaughters, Erin, Jill, Leya and Cami, and his sisters, Alice Paton of Vancouver and Vera McLaren (Stewart) of Cochrane. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mabel Sutherland, his brothers William (1979), Arthur (1984), Glen (1988) and his sister Doris Johnson (2005). The family would like to thank the staff of the Chinook Care Centre for their dedicated care and concern. In loving memory of my dear husband, our father and granddad who passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on August 28, 2006. Ken’s memory will be cherished by his wife, best friend and soul mate, Nina. He will always be loved and never forgotten by his three children, Sherri, Shannon and Randy. He had also touched the lives of his stepchildren, Liz and Brian; as well as seven grandchildren. Ken’s skills, wisdom and generosity will be remembered by the many people in the electrical and construction trades in the Calgary, Winnipeg and the Thunder Bay area. There will be an open house on Friday, September 1, 2006 at 12 Oakchurch Crescent S.W. at 2:00 p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects to Ken and Nina. MANZ - Ronald Lincoln
June 25, 1928 - August 29, 2006
Ronald Lincoln Manz passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, which he fought with determination and strength. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jade Manz and Cari Manz both of Calgary, AB; his wife, Joan Manz of Invermere, BC; his only grandchild, McKenzie Manz-Gibson; his sister, Babe (Olga) Fluker of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Arnold Manz and sisters, Gertrude Bavin and Dorie Ross. Ron was born in Edmonton, AB and resided in Calgary for the better part of his life. His last years were spent travelling with his companion, Isabel and being with his family - those things gave him much pleasure. His family drew much happiness and support from Ron and he will be sadly missed. Ron attended the University of Alberta and graduated with a BSc degree majoring in Geology. He loved his profession and his many friends continue to be inspired with his knowledge and enthusiasm for his job, his life and his family. At Ron’s request, no Funeral Services will be held.
