Passed away at home Sunday, June 6, 2004 in Picture Butte, Clarence Melvin "Bud" Fiddler, beloved husband of Joan. Bud was born July 24, 1939 in Maidstone, SK. He lived and worked in many places in Canada and the US over the years. Bud and Joan were married August 24, 1985 in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. They moved to Picture Butte in 1999, after Joan retired from teaching and they have resided there until Bud's passing. Besides his wife Joan, Bud is survived by his sons Vern, Gerald, Kevin and Chris, as well as four brothers and three sisters. His parents, one brother and two sisters predeceased him. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at Trinity United Church, 528 Maple Drive, Picture Butte, AB with Rev. Deborah Walker officiating. Mr. Dennis Michael Sadoway of Lamont, AB passed away suddenly at the age of 59 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Dolores; his mother, Anna; two sons and two daughters, Shawn Sadoway (Les Sharp) of Edmonton, AB, Loren (Laurie) Sadoway, Jody (James) Zabel, all of Lamont, AB, Kerri (Kelly) O'Brien of Star, AB; six grandchildren, Jocelyn, Carlene, Harrison, Landon, Liam, and Kaitlynn; five sisters, Oleda (Morris) Ewasiuk of Lamont, AB, Joanne (Bill) Letawsky of Star, AB, Sylvia (Bohdan) Kuzyk of Bon Accord, AB, Grace (Steve) Blashko of Andrew, AB, and Cynthia (Daniel) Taverney of Switzerland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, John in 1991; and both his brother-in-law, Orest Skubleny and his father-in-law, Peter Skubleny in 1993. MACHTANS (nee Mies), Gerda
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of a very special lady, Gerda Machtans (nee Mies). Gerda was born in Dortmund, Germany, March 15, 1940, emigrated to Canada in 1966, and settled in Edmonton, AB. Her life tragically ended December 28, 2010 in Victoria, BC, whilst visiting her daughter and family for Christmas. In mourning are: husband George, daughters Christine and Linda and their families, siblings Margret and Arnold and their families, and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends in and around the Edmonton area and Germany. The Funeral will take place Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at St. Augustine's Parkland Anglican Church, 131 Church Road, Spruce Grove, AB at 11:00 a.m.
Gowing, Kenneth M.
On January 4, 2005, Ken Gowing, aged 59, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully after a courageous one year battle with cancer. Ken Gowing is survived by his wife Monika Gowing, his four daughters and son-in-laws, Lori & Scott Merchant (Calgary), Shelly & Aaron Shapiro (Edmonton), Jody & Ken Rowswell (St. Albert), Julie & Tim Keith (Fort Saskatchewan) along with his six grandchildren and two on the way. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister and is predeceased by his mother, father, three brothers, and two sisters. Ken was born in Turner Valley, AB, December 5, 1945. He spent his life working in Alberta and owned and operated his own business Apollo Satellite for over 20 years. Ken raised his family in Alberta and dreamed of a retirement home in BC. Ken and Monika realized that dream and bought a property in Osoyoos, B.C. a little less than two years ago. Ken lived his dream for a very short time and died in his beloved mountains. Go rest high upon the mountains where we know we can always find you. A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Albert Inn (156, St. Albert Trail) on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, please send a donation to a cancer charity of your choice.
GEORGE VERNON WESTON
GEORGE VERNON WESTON passed away on December 13th at the age of 97 years. George was a resident of Fort Saskatchewan for many years where he and his wife June operated Weston's Nursery and Weston's Flowers. George also worked at the Fort Saskatchewan Jail as a head night guard. Upon leaving Fort Saskatchewan, George spent his retirement years living on the shores of Baptiste Lake near Athabasca. In September of 2005, Mr. Weston moved to Hay River NWT to spend his last months with his daughter Shirley Latour and several grandchildren and great grandchildren by his side.
BERKLEY, STAN
On Sunday, December 19, 2005, Stan of Fort Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years at the Kipnes Centre For Veteran's. He is survived by his wife Mavis; sons, Don, Brian, and Rick; daughters, Lorraine and Dianne; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
